I would have given 4+ stars except for the fact that there was a large ant in my wife's salad. My wife took it to the front counter to advise the staff and their response was simply " we are farm to table ". We...weren't looking for compensation but just wanted them to know. The food tasted fine but that casual we don't care response didn't sit well.More

This place is very inviting, with a bright and colorful interior. The coffee is great and there are food options as well.

The entree I chose was the Basque Shepard's Lamb and Beef Stew. This was one of the best meat stews I have ever had. The coffee house works hard to make these Thursday dinner nights special and this is greatly appreciated.

The Blue Heron is a must every time we are in town. The place has a great vibe (although it can get pretty loud when busy) and very high quality soup and sandwich options, great coffee, and does offer bottled beer as an option as...well.More

Visitor center recommended this place and we didn’t want a big meal. This hit the spot. They had a wide variety of items including salads, sandwiches, and baked goods. There was a lovely display of flower photographs which was enjoyable.

Food and coffee is a natural and pure conscious choice that you can feel good about. I find the prices a bit steep, but you will have a free conscience towards health and fair trade.

A marvelous place to meet with friends, family or colleagues over a delicious meal. Fresh local ingredients put together by amazing chefs. Open for breakfast and lunch and occasionally during the evening. Food is wonderful! Atmosphere is friendly.

I ordered the kale salad, and it was delicious. They also offered to make grilled cheese sandwiches for my kids, which was great because they weren't on the menu.

We just stopped for a quick coffee and a sandwich and wish we had been able to try more menu items. The chicken salad was great and bread was best I've tasted. You can't miss with this place.

This is the best place in winona to grab a delicious soup, coffee, tea, desert, salad, or sandwich. They even have quiche and other breakfast items like yogurt and granola and oatmeal. The staff is extremely efficient and kind. My favorite salad is the Pear...and Greens salad with their maple mustard dressing. Their egg salad is delicious and their italian sandwich is wholesome and filling. I go here at least 1x a week and don't plan on stopping. When friends visit from out of town, this is where I always take them for lunch!More

They have a 2 choice dinner, one veg one meat, on Thursday nights. It is counter style ordering and then served to your table. Salad, soup, even bread are extra charge. They serve beer and wine, tho also be forewarned, glass of wine is 9$...and not a generous pour. Most of the choices are of the 'pre-prepared' style, so not cooked to order, just plated. They do offer a unique and varied gourmet and ethnic entrees that vary every week BUT as there appear to be many people in the kitchen including the owners I cannot understand why the service is so incredibly slow, and entree usually comes out cold or near. Everyone is so upbeat and positive there, its like they are clueless though i see other reviewers mention same thing. Its like they are above reproach as a beloved 'home town gem' Well, we keep going back and trying but its only gotten worse. I like to support local but feel they need to tighten their dinner game but have a feeling they would be offended to get or follow up on critical feedback.More

Just had to say, yesterday I had probably the best piece of quiche I've ever tasted. Light. Perfectly cooked--rich taste but still soft and moist. Not at all greasy. Delicate crisp crust, We stop in here several times a year, and always enjoy our food...and the ambiance, but this was special. That's all-- PS Try the maple scones if you get there early enough!More

Food is excellent. The Thursday night dinner though is a problem. The kitchen is extremely slow preparing the order. We got there for the dinner specials at 5:00 PM, did not get served until 6:25 PM. Be prepared for a long wait with no explanation....Better to avoid the Thursday night dinner offerings and go for breakfast or lunch. Giving at average rating, 6 for excellence of food, zero for getting dinner out in a timely manner.More
