We had two breakfasts, one dinner and pie. We were a party of 4 and everyone's meal was excellent every time. The pie is to die for.

You have got to stop and enjoy The Rustic Inn Cafe! The food is amazing and the pie is spectacular. I had the cranberry turkey club that includes soup or salad and a slice of pie for $18. The sandwhich was on homemade cranberry bread....The soup was tomato soup. All of the food was outstanding!More
We ate dinner here, and on the recommendation of someone we talked to as we waited for a table, we had the Wildrice Meatloaf. It was the best meatloaf ever! Perfect blend of seasonings. The fresh baked honey wheat bread that came with it was...also excellent. For dessert I had the Carmel apple pecan pie and my husband had French apple...wow!!! Stopped back this morning for breakfast...the breakfast skillet we tried was amazing, as we're the pancakes. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give them a 20!More
Honestly, best pies of the North Shore..they actually make them right there unlike the other very popular pie place........ SO SO SO GOOD.
We enjoyed our dinner (meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy; walleye) -- it was tasty and served in a reasonable time. The 5 layer chocolate pie was very creamy and good.
My wife had the Hot Beef and mashed potatoes. I had a turkey burger. Awesome food. Great staff. Will come again.
You simply HAVE to eat here! There is not a bad thing on the menu and the PIES are out of this world. Service is friendly, the dining room is cozy, there is a sweet and fun gift shop attached to the café where you...can browse while you wait. Outdoor seating in the warmer months.More
My wife & I went up the North Shore to break up a cold boring winter day. We thought it would be nice to stop for lunch at a little cafe before we headed back home. What a mistake that was. First, it was very...cold and uncomfortable inside the place, it was almost unbearable. Next, I ordered a simple Hot Roast Beef Sandwich & my wife ordered a Caesar Salad. My wife's caesar salad had a very funny taste to it, it had very little dressing, which also did not taste like a Caesar salad dressing. My wife made the comment that the only thing that tasted good were the croutons! On the other hand, I laughed at what was served to me as a Hot Roast Beef Sandwich. Chunks as dry roast beef with next to no gravy over both the so called mashed potatoes and the very dry beef. We drove an hour and a half and wasted your time eating here. Very Disappointed!More
We ate here after visiting the Split Rock Lighthouse and it was a great choice. The pies were AWESOME! I had a Walleye cake for appetizer and it was enough for a meal. Delicious with great house-made tartar sauce. My wife had the peanut butter...pie and I had the assorted berry pie. Both were great. I mean really great. I was surprised that they didn't have any gooseberry pie there, which is what I really wanted. The staff seemed a little frazzled and it was busy but the service was decent and they were friendly. Great gift store attached. Really nice stuff in there.More
We were in the area to explore the parks and tried to stop here for lunch twice and failed. We had our dog with us so things were complicated by needing dog friendly places. Day 1, it was really busy with a long wait. We...were told we could order to go to eat outside but decided just to try somewhere else bc we thought it would take too long to get the food with the big crowd and we were starving. Day 2. Wasn’t as busy as it was a weekday. My fiancé told the hostess we had a dog and asked if we could order to sit outside. She said sure but it was a 20 min wait. Didn’t make sense bc the big deck was empty and we were only trying to order to go but we waited. She came out about 15 min later to bring us inside, we reminded her we have a dog and we’re trying to eat outside. She said they weren’t serving on the deck and they didn’t do to go orders, she had put us down for a table inside. She seemed annoyed and dismissive with us. We contemplated just putting the dog in the car since it was cool out but with the bad communication we were getting and the unwelcoming hostess we decided it wasn’t going to be worth it. Moral of the story, not dog or people friendly, confusing changing rules, bad communication skills, no outdoor seating. The food looks great but I will never try to go here again dog or not bc I simply didn’t feel welcome at all.More
Excited to end our North-shore trip with dinner here. Dismayed and deflated. 15-20 wait to be seated, ok-but-hostess seamed uninterested in taking our name. Waitress seated us, took our drink order and food order-timely manor. Wanted ranch with onion rings, waitstaff never came back so...we could ask. Main meal was slow to arrive. Others around us seated much after us getting meals. We had the specials, pasta delicious, Steak dinner not so good. 1/3 of the steak was gristle. Steak was quite tough. Not a good choice. Potatoes we ok. Waitress busy, no real attention. Wanted a glass of water. Never was offered or provided. My wine glass was dirty. I wiped off the lip marks on rim and drank anyway. Whole Pie to take home. Delicious. Credit card surcharge added before we could offer cash. Payed cc anyway. Over all just ok. Experience less than.More
Well worth the stop and probably my favorite restaurant that we ate at along the North Shore. We waited about 20 minutes to be seated. The food was delicious but their current menu is different than what is on the website. You definitely have to...try some pie if you’re here. We had the cherry peach crumble, peanut butter, and five layer chocolate and all were amazing! The inside and outside of the cafe is so cute and comfortable. Will definitely plan to stop here if I’m in the area again.More
I called yesterday for the current hours. Double checked the website this afternoon. We drove over an hour. Arrived at 4:02, with a 7:00 closing time. Sign on the door said closing today at 4:00, short staffed. Not a surprising problem in this economy, but...please keep your website updated. Went in to grab a piece of pie, people right in front of us got seated, we didn’t even ask. Asked for a piece of cherry peach pie, he said they were out so I picked something else. The customer behind me asked someone else for cherry peach and got it. He hadn’t even checked. Then he kept the change without asking, no big deal but awkward. Disappointing there was no dinner, but it was a beautiful drive anyway. We will be back with an updated, hopefully improved, review.More
The first night, we arrived too late to be seated. The second day, we waited an hour to get a table; it was definitely worth the wait. Like most restaurants along the North Shore, they are short-staffed. My friend ordered the ribs and loved them....I ordered the bacon cheddar burger. It was also good. We both bought slices of pie to eat later. They have the capacity to seat more people but don't have employees to serve them. Stop and eat! It's worth the wait. The employees work hard.More
Awesome meal and pie! As with everywhere they are short staffed so there will be a wait for a table, there is a very nice deck where you can sit and wait and a fun gift shop to look around in. We had the Reuben...and a hot beef sandwich, both were excellent! Great variety of freshly made pies to choosy from. Highly recommend this gem!More
