Sister in law hungry for ribs. Live close by but had never tried. So we decided to check it out. Great service & great food. 4 people in our party. 3 had fall off the bone bbq ribs and I had prime rib. Everything great....Rachel our waitress was wonderful & very helpful with recommendations. This was our first time here but won’t be our last!More
When Jeff had it the food was great. Jeff is living in Florida and doesn't know what a disaster his restaurant has turned into. Ordered a burger with fries---cheap Mc Donalds fries and the burger was raw when I ordered well done. I looked around...at what others had ordered. Noticed it is the cheapest product the business could find and sell it for an inflated price. $12 for cheap burger meat. $14 for "walleye" fish fingers. I can't believe how downhill this place has gone. Covid?? Maybe they are trying to make up the money by serving cheap products at high prices. Folks---this is a burger joint. Go to the Log Cabin or Blacksmith where they care about what they give their customers and you get what you pay for at a good price. I will never go there again even for happy hour(cut that down to two days a week). Jeff, we need you back to fix this mess you left.More
We went for an early dinner with friends. The waitress was terrific! We were the only customers in the dining room with only a few sitting at the bar. We ordered our food and shortly afterward a group of four came in and were seated...next to us -- the rest of the dining room was empty. They moved us when we asked to be moved. (Covid is spiking and we were all very uncomfortable). They continued to seat people close together. We all ordered different meals and we all agreed that the food was not good, except for the baked potatoes. The meats had been reheated and were very tough.More
Dinner for 4 was horrible. 2 waitresses who had to work inside and out. No prime rib at 6pm. Fried shrimp had a thick layer of greasy batter. Steak medallions, which were supposed to be medium rare, were well. Will not be going back.
Never had a meal less than fantastic, they can be at near capacity and still the short wait is worth it.
Looking forward to fish fry Fridays. My first choice was packed, no seating available. Sals was in the area, very disappointed! Mushy oil soaked fish! Fries were hard as a rock and cold. Many better fish frys in the area!
We were staying nearby and didn’t want to go into downtown Stillwater so found Sal’s nearby. What a great find!!! The food was AMAZING and quick to arrive! But the best part of our evening was our waiter Tony. He made our day complete. We...had the steak medallions, prime rib, loaded potato and the famous green beans- everything was perfect!More
We used to LOVE Sal's, and while we didn't eat there real frequently, we always knew we would have a wonderful meal in a terrific and cozy atmosphere. Over the years, we've had had great meals at Sal's, but more recently, the quality has been...variable the last several visits. For Father's day this year, we decided to try one more time. We decided to order Prime Rib take out, and make a little romantic dinner at home. Ordered 2 Queen Cut Prime Ribs, (1 rare, 1 medium), salad, and no starch or veg since we are really watching our carbs. When we arrived at the designated time, they were just packing up our order, and the entree was still nice an hot when we got it home It was early, so the parking lot was only half full, and there were only a few guests sitting in the dining side. The Salad was wonderful - a huge amount of very fresh crispy lettuce, carrots, red onions, tomatoes, etc. and very flavorful dressing. The Prime rib was also a huge portion, however, both were cooked to medium, seemed tough, and they had very little flavor. We were extremely disappointed. Each came with a side of mashed potatoes, which we did not order. In essence, we paid almost $90 for a spectacular salad and and entree that was just average. I know that things change for every business. But the reason we held Sal's in such high regard was the quality of the Prime Rib. Sadly, that seems to be slipping. We probably will return, and hope that they get back to what we remembered.More
What a fun place! We had a party of 6 people on New year's eve for dinner and stayed for the fun after! Portion sizes are great and very flavorful! The staff all looked as though they were having fun serving a full house. Thank...you so much Sals for a great evening/night we will definitely be back!!!More
We had such a great experience on New Years Eve at Sal's! The food is always great, and tonight was no exception. Everyone but two people in our group enjoyed the Prime Rib special. Our server was fun, and attentive, even though she was taking...care of quite a few tables. It was also great to see the Owners interactiong with customers and employees during one of their busiest times! Thank you Sal's for making another family gathering special!More
All around awful. Waitress was rude, not knowledgeable on the menu, and messed up several times. We had reservations for a group of 12 for 7:30 and didn’t get served our food until well after 9:00pm. Dinner special was 2 steak medallions with 4 jumbo...shrimp for $29.99... 4 people in our group only got one medallion and she tried to say that’s how it was supposed to be when the advertisement in the bathroom clearly states two medallions. Steaks were not cooked to order. They were out of loaded baked potatoes - instead of trying to rectify the situation, she said we could ordered the mashed red potatoes loaded, for an upcharge... when it’s their error that they were out. Server let everyone order the jumbo shrimp cooked whichever way they like, then came back to tell us we were all getting shrimp scampi. Food was not anything special. Vegetables were cold, potatoes were bland. And to top it off, she ran the wrong cards to the wrong tabs at the end of the night, even though they were all clearly separated. 18% gratuity was automatically included but there’s no way anyone deserved it that night. I understand that bigger groups with separate tabs can be a pain to servers, but this was just horrible. We have no desire to ever return and will be sure to spread the word on our experience.More
4 of us came here for dinner. We have never heard of it, and just came across it and decided to give it a try. Atmosphere is fun, busy, open, outdoor seating, there's a bar when you first come in, so you can hit that...or go down to the open dining area. All the food we had was excellent! Had some spicy wings, BLT, and 2 had the fish sandwich. Had nice selection of draft beers and wines. We didn't have any desserts (to full), so don't know what they are like, but I'm sure they are good also. Our server was prompt, friendly, courteous and knowledgeable about the menu, but not the beer, but we teased her about that. She was great! Overall a fun night with great food! Would definitely recommend going there.More
The location is off the beaten track a bit, but it's worth the drive. Prime rib - nicely done with the right flavor. Ribs - wow, surprisingly good. All the Appy's were yummy. The patio was nice on a Minnesota summer evening. The highlight was...the service on this most recent trip. Have to love how helpful, timely and attentive that service team really was. It is a pretty broad menu, with lots of choices. Frankly, the food is better now than it was previously. It had been okay - but this trip everything tasted and presented better. We will be back - SOON!More
These folks are the best. Really typical Minnesota friendly and good old American food. We had a group of six and the service was fast.
