A year ago I stayed in Cranham and ate at this pub. The food was very good. Unfortunately since then the ownership has changed and my experience this year was very bad. My partner's pasta dish of mushroom pappardelle had a watery sauce and was inedible, for which a full refund was given. My dish consisted of small salmon cutlets... More

Called in for Saturday lunch, not having been here for many years. Should have been warned when couple at next table, asked for almost untouched plates of food to be bagged up. Ordered Chilli con carne , which was incredibly sweet. Can only assume the chef had made a mistake. Complained to the very young barman, who said he likes... More

We went here after a long day with teenagers walking DoE, and the food was average at best. The pasta was bland and chilli tasted like it had lots of sugar in it, it was a Saturday night and at least half the menu was unavailable. There was no real atmosphere, however the staff were nice. If we knew about... More

We had a nice homely meal there and the food was good old honest fare. The pub is friendly and when we were there there were a number of visitors who were on a walking holiday as well as some who were just having a meal . The atmosphere was jovial and we felt very comfortable.

Arrived after a long 8 mile walk to be greeted by some friendly young staff members who looked like they had had a very busy lunch session as it had turned out a very sunny day. We had a couple of pints of bitter and a filled baguette with chips which did the job so no complaints. But the only... More

Well what a lovely little pub. Set in a very pretty village, its a very traditional pub and eatery with friendly and welcoming staff, locals abd a cozy open fire. We ordered liver bacon and mash with onion gravy and it was delicious, and the serving was large too. Whats more the ales are good and the prices very reasonable.... More

This pub is packed out at a weekend with locals and their dogs. I watched as each person entered through the quaint latched door and was warmly greeted by everyone inside. The same ritual of hugging and kissing everyone in the place played out as each person left. What a friendly community! The pub has an open fire which gives... More

We stayed in Cranham the weekend before and during Cheltenham races and visited the pub several times throughout our stay. The Black horse locals and staff were fantastic throughout and coped really well even though there was quite often 10 of us eating. The food was great and the menu had a good choice. A big thank you to Ally... More

We have been to this pub several times and had some lovely meals, it is dog friendly and a lot of locals frequent the pub. We went as a family the day before Mother's day and there were 5 of us. Beautiful sunshine outside, but the bar was very cold and we were all very cold sitting waiting to be... More

Description
The Black Horse Inn is a hidden Cotswold gem. It is still a real pub not a restaurant in the country. Customers are always welcome for just a drink and a chat with our locals. Our food is all home made from locally sourced ingredients. We prepare the food in small batches to ensure that quality is kept high. This does mean that some popular dishes may not be available during busy periods while we cook some more. Our meals are wholesome pub fare and we are renowned for our hearty portions. Our traditional Sunday lunches are very popular and advance booking is recommended to avoid disappointment,
