I just moved to Bluff Ave and am close to the Donut Connection. I have tried two different breakfast sandwiches and they were both Awesome ! I'm going over there right now at 5:00 am on A Saturday to get A cup of coffee and A Apple Fritter. Great place !

Yes, it’s small and dated, but what makes this bakery special is the warmth and friendliness of the owners as well as the customers. The donuts are very good—my favorite is the apple fritter—are very reasonably priced and the coffee is good. There is a drive-thru for quick pick up if you need to keep going; however if you have time, you can chat with other people while enjoying your donuts. This place is under new management (almost a year); the new owners take great care to make their customers happy.

I like to pick out my own donut selection. They also have fancy donuts/pastries. Delicious coffee as well.

I have not been here for a couple of years and as I understand, it has new owners. I did like the donuts here in the past and decided to treat the family to some donuts this morning. I got a dozen donuts around 6am. When I got them home, I noticed ALL of the donuts were cold...not cold like from the weather (and it wasn't that cold out so it couldn't have been from that anyway) but cold like they had been refrigerated. I also could tell they were refrigerated since many of the donuts had that moisture/humid look to them like they were in the fridge. Note, I did not expect them to be warm, but I DID EXPECT them to be baked that morning=fresh. I assume they do have fresh donuts later in the morning, but apparently if you are early in to get them, you get yesterdays that did not sell and they pass them off as freshly made that day. Looking at the donuts and tasting them, they for sure were not made today, definitely day old for sure, no question. None had the fresh taste, all tasted stale. Also, the peanut donuts had little to no peanuts on them. Same for the coconut donuts, little to no coconut. The powdered sugar filled creme donuts had little creme in them too. Maybe this place used to be good years ago, but with the old donuts being sold and skimping on the ingredients I would go elsewhere for your donut craving. I will not be back!

Hi there! we change ownership 1 year ago and now I guaranty you we have much much better donuts. We make them fresh every day and we don't ever sell any one day old donuts. We also either donate them or trash them. I hope you will give us a try. Thank you

I learned of this place when a co-worker started bringing me their donuts. I fell in love because they were so good, especially the Vanilla Angels. So almost every time I am in town, I have to get a donut, or maybe two ;)
About a month ago I came in late in the day and asked for my Vanilla angel. They were out up front but the woman disappeared to the back and returned with the donut! Then this Saturday I went in and again asked for 2 of my Vanilla Angels. They were out but the guy said, I am going to go make you some, I'll be right back. A few minutes later he came back with my donuts and wished me a great day. These guys are so incredibly sweet and treat the customers so well. And if that isn't enough, the donuts...yum. I am going to be back again and again!

So was looking for a specific type of donut, cherry filled, or maybe a cherry filled bismark. Daughter likes them, I like a happy daughter. Kind of a win-win, right?
And fortunately for me (I thought), Donut Connection has them on their menu. Yeah, they weren't open when I found them on the internet, but they're open early, things are going to work out great!
Maybe not... You see, if you go to their web site, and look under products, you'll see Donuts. And if you look under Filled Donuts, you'll find Cherry. And that's exactly what I wanted.
But they don't actually sell cherry filled donuts. They sell raspberry. Hey, it's almost in the same color palette, right? And that's really all that matters, isn't it?
Have no idea why they don't list the actual products that they sell, but to get up early, to buy something they don't have is disappointing.
Won't be back, unless I can confirm they have started making these.

Really, how can you go wrong? They are delicious.. .they are cheap... and they are right in a convenient spot in Shakopee. They have all the usuals... cake donuts, flavors like chocolate, blueberry, vanilla, they also have long johns, crullers, donut holes.. fancy donuts on the Holidays. ( I bought one chocolate donut shaped like Rudolph on Christmas Eve) Just go and check them out. You really, honestly can't regret eating a donut.

As the other reviewers have said, the building is dated.. It gives a 70's feeling when you walk in the door. The doughnuts are awesome though, I've never not had a good one and we come quite often. Whether you eat in, or go through the drive through, the service is great and things are served quickly.

It's not fancy, but has a wide selection and fresh donuts daily. Love making a stop in for a dozen when I'm in the neighborhood. Much better than grocery store donuts!

My son and I stopped in on our way back from a morning doctors appointment to get a couple donuts. The outside is a bit outdated and that continued on into the inside as well. The place is in a sense a dive, however I like places like that. The service was great. The coffee ok, regular drip coffee nothing fancy. The donuts really good. We tried a couple Apple Fritters which I am still craving, a maple long john which was fantastic and a sour cream cake donut again very good. If your into good donuts this place is a must.

Because we owned/operated restaurant business more than 30 years before, we have enjoyed eat outside around since we moved to Shakopee area on 1999. Although our daugher does not like the dirty celling in dinning room, we enjoyed Donut Connection more than once a week
because the preowner (a old nice lady) make you are so welcomed.
Since the old lady is gone everything changed. The dirty celling is still dirty, and we are not belong to here any more.

So I love cake donuts, but if you like raised or fancies, you'll also love Donut Connection! We've tried many different donut places and keep coming back to Shako for these tasty ones. It's not a very new or updated place but it's always busy with people eating in and enjoying the newspaper and a cup of coffee. The staff is always friendly and prompt with our order, even with a morning rush. Try it out sometime!

We have gone in a few times for a treat in the morning, and have not been disappointed by the doughnuts ever. :) Coffee is just regular drop coffee, nothing fancy, but the taste is good. Overall very good!
