This was mom's choice for Mother's Day. We were treated well. We received our food very quickly. My burrito could feed 2 or 3. What can I say? Excellent food. Excellent service. Mom was right.

I was amazed as to how quickly we were served with great food. The portions were large and very tasty.

We were going to an event nearby and were looking for a reasonably priced, casual place to have dinner and a drink. We were not disappointed in our choice. The service was excellent. Nice to have chips and salsa brought to the table without needing to order them. The fish tacos were tasty, and so were the enchiladas, tamales, and burritos. I ordered the medium gold margarita and it was delicious and plenty to drink. The price for the gold margarita was also reasonable. We will be going back. There is a Tex-Mex restaurant much closer to home that we frequent several times every year but I think we will be taking a little longer drive to go back to El Toro when we're craving Mexican food.

8 of us were on vacation and decided to have Mexican. So stopped here for a bite. Service was sloooowwww, 8 different dishes, and people and all said it was ok but not great. Chips for the table were served with meh watery salsa and a strange-tasting white sauce (not queso). Guac was good. Portions are large.

Molly, we appreciate your feedback and are sorry to hear that your experience at El Toro Mexican Restaurant wasn't up to par. We're glad you enjoyed the guacamole but we apologize for the slow service. Your comments about our salsa and white sauce have been noted. We strive to provide great food and service and we'll work harder to ensure a better experience on your next visit. -Your Amigos at El Toro

Food coming out of the kitchen was very slow, when we asked when the food was coming out we were informed that they were short staffed. When it finally arrived mine was cold. Maybe the worse Mexican restaurant we have visited!

Typical Mexican style restaurant decor and setting. What makes the difference is the staff and food. This restaurant hit the mark. Friendly and attentive staff. Prompt service. Great margaritas and tasty food. Did not leave hungry.

Had A combination 30 and was excellent. We were created and seated quickly and the chips were there immediately and fresh and served with top quality salsa and white quest sauce. All was terrific. Plate licking good. Will definitely come back again on future trip here.

We had a couple types of chimichangas (chicken and the fiesta) and they were just OK. The chips were stall and the salsa runny, The sour cream dip was interesting, but my wife found it too sweet, I thought it was good. Four different people waited on us during our visit and in the resulting confusion, they delivered the wrong dish with little remorse. Plus were never very attentive. The person who should be commended, is the young busboy who worked triple time and received little respect from the owners and wait staff!

This is your typical Mexican Restaurant. And there is nothing wrong with that!! Food comes out hot... yummy! Never been disappointed with any of the food here. They have a queso sauce with pico in it.... DEEEELISH! Good selection of vegetarian options as well. Service has also been pretty good every time I've been here. However, if you are looking for Authentic Mexican food... Go to El Hurache!!!! Right up the road on 101/1st Ave. right near the old Shakopee Trading Post. I'm actually salivating right now just thinking about it. Food is to die for, SUPER authentic and the man behind the counter is so wonderful. He will explain every item on their menu. Seriously, you will not be sorry... it is So, so so Good!

El Toro is a great spot, the service and food is always very good and this dinner loved up to the consistancy! We started with the Queso Fundido Supreme and it was outstanding. It is almost a meal in itself! We had El Loro Lindo and Burritos Mexicanos as our entrees and both were hits. The El Loro Lindo is a mix of steak, chicken, shrimp, fajita veggies, and white cheese sauce...absolutely delicious. This is without a doubt the best Mexican food and service in Shakopee.

My wife and I have really enjoyed our visits over the past year. We love sitting at the bar and watching the hard working crew. Their margaritas are outstanding. Food is superb and fast, maybe a bit too fast. The only negative is the older restaurant atmosphere. Give this place a try!

Tried this restaurant while travelling on business. The restaurant is in a nice location, but the interior was a little dark. The service was excellent, but the food was lacking in flavor. I had chicken fajitas and recall the meat was a bit bland and the refried beans were very bland. I'm used to TexMex being from Texas and the full flavor of spiced fajita meat and refried beans. Having said that, I would probably try a different location for Mexican if travelling there again, but it wasn't bad - just lacking in flavor I was expecting.

I would give 5, stars ,the food is excellent, however the server could not seem to get the order right 3 times. I asked for salsa Verde 3 times and he said ya i will get it, after 10 minutes I had to go in the back and get it myself. I ordered a burrito with no rice and add cilantro, when it came it had only had rice and meat, I had to wait another 10 minutes for the food to be corrected.by the time i received my food, everyone at my table was done with their food, I advised him his tip would be 10% instead of the 30 I usually give end told hm to learn a lesson from this,'

Has a very ample menu. I had the chile relleno and enchilada and was huge, it came with beans and rice. Too filling and very good. Highly recommend it.
