A family business that is a deli. Remarkably everything reinforces a feeling of being in a place like the Carnegie Deli in NYC. Fine deli sandwiches with superb corned beed and pastrami. Two cole slaws-- one is a vinegary tangy one that can't be beat. Service is effective, personable, but not fake-friendly. Soups are consistently fine-- motzo ball soup, pea... More

We recently went to Cecil's for a late lunch on a Friday (1:30) and then again for a late brunch the next day (12:30). Everything was great! On the Friday, we had the borscht, the New York style (1/2 lb) corned beef on caraway rye, and the potato latkes. The plan was to share all and take home what we... More

We live nearby and frequent Cecil's for the wonderful Ruben sandwiches.....Well NOT any more...! Three of us went there a week ago to have the Ruben,,,,,It was absolutely disgusting ! The bread seemed stale and over fried and rock hard,, The pieces were very small like ends ...The corned beef was rubbery and you could actually stretch it....Really...I am not... More

Went for lunch. I ordered chicken soup which was delicious and turkey on pumpernickel. From the description in the menu I expected a sandwich piled high with meat. It was just an average sandwich. We sat in front area so it was hard to get someone to wait on us. The staff was rather stretched. I'm from Chicago so I... More

Coming from Chicago, we know delis. This was good, but no Chicago. Very friendly service and old-fashioned atmosphere. Large menu. Sandwiches good but not piled high, like in some delis. Prices not too bad. Enjoyable.

I have been coming here since I was a kid more than 40 years ago. I moved away but come back every time I am in town visiting. I just finished eating and had another great meal. I will keep coming back!

Cecil's Restaurant & Deli is an institution in Highland Park, St . Paul. Their Reuben's made w/a cream base vs. 1000 island sets it apart from every other place in the twin cities & beyond.

Wonderful little gem in St. Paul. Lots of wonderful menu options for sandwiches, salads and breakfast too. Think NY style deli! Baked goods including bagels, rye bread and cookies available also. We have also had Cecil's cater an event for our family and we were impressed with their response times and service.

If you are going for lunch, the restaurant is completely full by noon so plan accordingly. I ordered the Rueben sandwich which was delicious and very flavorful. The coleslaw was fresh tasting and would highly recommend as well. My son ordered the plate with two chili hotdogs and fries. He was rather disappointed in the chili topping on the hotdog.... More
