Our first time at Joan's after wanting to go there for a long time. In short, superb. The decor is a bit mid-century, pleasant and understated. The service is friendly, efficient, comfortable, like family, with Joan (the chef) frequently bringing dishes to the table. Our waitress was wonderful, friendly, knowledgeable. Our dishes were all really wonderful to superb: gnocchi, fois... More

Our family had a "pre-Christmas" feast here recently. Several friends had recommended Joan's so we wanted to see for ourselves what was so wonderful. Located along a stretch of Snelling Avenue that would not be none for fine food. The restaurant was converted from an old pizza joint with a decorating style you might call mid-Sixties Mad Men. Small and... More

My wife and I had our first dinner here recently and we were both please with our meals. We had limited time for dinner on this occasion so we didn't stay for desert/coffee. I will say that this is a $$$ or $$$$ restaurant but feel it was worth it. We enjoyed the crab toast along with the corn dumpling/crunchy... More

Made reservations via open table. We arrived a little early and we seated immediately. There were four of us. We had an appetizer for the table, which was crab bites and excellent. Then main courses were pork chops, filet and Sea bass. Also had an excellent side dish of yams in a sauce. Everything was according to wishes and was... More

Really have been looking forward to eating at Joan's as the reviews are always over the top. This place is small lively and well decorated. Staff was attentive and just the right amount of "friendly " BUT, while the different courses were very picturesque and ok taste wise , boy were they expensive and rather simple in preparation. The scallops... More

Extremely rude. Arrived a few minutes early with my in-laws aged 80+ . Nowhere for my father-in-law to sit. He uses a cane. I borrowed a chair so he could rest until our table was ready. Hostess said he would have to move as the table was needed, (the party had arrived). I would have been happy to move if... More

We were excited to get into a restaurant we had heard a lot about. After waiting several minutes to get to our table that was already set, we waited at least 10 minutes to even be approached. When we ordered some drinks, it took another 15 before we saw them. He showed up without any menus and took another 5... More

Read reviews on this place so we decided to give it a try. Amazing! What a surprise. Every course of our meal was a culinary experience. Service was excellent. Good wine list and nice choice of wines by the glass. A bit noisy, maybe not an eye catching building, but the food and the service was memorable. We will be... More

The food was amazing! Very tiny restaurant, make sure have reservations. My only complaint is that it is very noisy. If your looking for a quiet intimate atmosphere this is not the place.
