Always made “Beetles”our stop for the past 14 years when attending Rochester for annual/semi annual Mayo appts. Especially loved their crunchy, salty popcorn. This last visit the popcorn was extremely oily to the mouth & not as crunchy, which was a total disappointment. I ordered...the battered walleye fingers & onion rings. Fish came swimming in oil as did the rings. Had to peel off the batter so fish was edible. Ate 3 rings & left the rest. Should have refused all! My bad! Had two Rum & Pepsi (they don’t have coke) & I believe the bartender forgot to take the cap off the rum when he made my drinks! I literally hadn’t eaten for 24 hours so this alcohol should have hit me like a ton of bricks, but didn’t phase me, which explains the lack of alcohol. Oh well, Beetles was fun while it lasted, but it’s now over. Won’t return!More

My wife and I were referred to this place from locals we met at Mayo. We had. Never heard of it. We walked in on a very busy Friday night and were able to score a table. Service was a little slow but we understood...because of how busy they were. Our server was very nice and we ordered and got our food in a timely manner. Munching on fresh popcorn helped. Wife had the pork sliders and loved them. I had a Rachel Reuben and it was very good. Now we have a new spot to visit when we come back for our checkups.More

A laid back vibe with better than average menu, great portions, good service. Lots of space between tables even before Covid. Good "after work" stop too!

Food is always so yummy and consistent. The atmosphere is a cool vibe, yet relaxed, with a bit of supper club. Servers and staff are so caring and hard working, we were in on a very busy night. Salad bar is best I’ve ever had...(yes the best compared to many good ones in the area). Every type of eater can find a good meal at this place that fits their needs. A vegan or vegetarian alone would be happy with the salad bar. Many pasta salads and usually a veggie soup. Grilled veggies and a side option for those who don’t like potatoes (crazy, right?). This will now be our regular hang out. Thanks so much for the nice night out. Pictures are the cod meal and the blackened salmon. Thanks to our amazing server chandler for the impeccable service!More

I eat there when I want really good broasted chicken. To my mind its the best in town. They have very good sandwiches, wraps and soups. Popcorn comes right away to your table with drinks. There are always special to consider.

We have dined here before and as most others who are familiar with this establishment, the clientele is on the elderly side mixed with a lot of Mayo employees. Large groups are the norm here because reservations are not generally needed. Yes there is free...popcorn which they keep available all the time. Our recent visit on a Tuesday at 5:45 PM, we found the parking lot to be 100% full. People were making 2 or 3 trips around the lot trying to find parking. We parked a block away in a separate lot. Once inside we found the place to be an absolute mess. Any open tables were dirty and cluttered with dirty dishes and napkins. Popcorn and spilled food all over the floor. We grabbed an open (least messiest) table on the raised level by the windows. It still took 15 minutes before anyone came by. Our server Aleese, was very nice and apologized for the wait. She explained that they were short staffed. We could see that there were no bus-persons, no one to clean the tables. The servers had to do it all, take orders, deliver food, bus dishes and clean the tables. They were all working very hard. When people would finish eating and leave, the table would stay messy until someone else sat there, then a server would have to clean it. Not very good management here. Our food was not too bad. We both had a glass of red wine; malbec $7, cabernet $5. My wife ordered the Frisco Melt which came with a side, she ordered cottage cheese which was hot (should be served cold) from being on a hot plate and next to a hot sandwich, she could not eat it, but her sandwich was good. I ordered the Loaded Burger - mushrooms, onions, green peppers, two cheeses. My side was a baked potato. The potato was a bit under cooked, the sandwich was delicious. So higher marks on a review could be better if not for the messy place, under staffing, the long waits and the sides not being so good. The place stays busy, so I guess most people don't care and the management doesn't either.More

We had five kids and 6 adults in our party on a Sunday evening. The kids had kids meals and drinks. The kids meal is $5.50 and the drink is additional $1.50. Seams pricey to me. Service was ok. Won't be coming back here for...birthday celebrations with the family!More

Beetles has great food, period. The place can be crowded at times and a little nothing organized to the tables, but the chairs are very comfortable and the service is usually pretty good, though sometimes a little slow. But it's all about the food, Best...burgers in town, I think. Also great Club sandwiches.More

A group of friends met for monthly lunch and to "catch up". We all had something different-wraps, Reuben, nachos, fries and cole slaw. The fries are outstanding and some people like to order them "extra crispy". There is a bar so you can order beerdrinks...to accompany your lunch. Casual with lots of windows.More

First time trying this place on a Friday nite. Good points are; plenty of parking, plenty of seating even though it was very busy we found a table (seat yourself) right away. The service here is pretty good and quick. If you are looking for...a sports bar to have rollicking or rowdy good time, that is not likely to happen. The clientele here is 90% geriatric and by our table at least we could here conversations around medical ailments and conditions. So yeah, a large portion of the menu selections have a lot to do with deep fried and cooking oil, just what seniors should not be eating right? Anyway, typical sports bar reminds me of Whistle Binkys only this place has better and more comfortable chairs. It is not overloaded with TVs, which is a good thing. My wife had the Tuna Melt with Sweet Potato Fries. I had the Tilapia (broiled not fried) with Cajun Seasoning and Baked Potato. Nicely done, but a small portion of Tilapia. She had a Corona and I had two Guinness drafts. Beer selection here is rather wimpy but thumbs up for at least having Guinness. Free popcorn while you wait for food. Our server Lauren R. was very attentive to us, but the bartenders are not top notch....Lauren had to wait almost 10 minutes at the bar for them to get my 2nd glass of Guinness.More

Small town midwestern feel, not the type of place I usually go to but we visited my wife's 92 year old grandma and she wanted to go. It was a Saturday afternoon (today) and the place was packed with others just like us...people visiting the...grandparents and the family going out to dinner. It has a bit of a sports bar feel so it was perfect. I could zone out from the family and watch the game as they chatted. The waitress put the game on I wanted at the tv by our table. The food is classic midwestern stuff. Lots of meat, fried stuff, white flour etc. I got a Reuben with vegetibles...it was good! They had non-alcoholic beer for my father-in-law which he likes, although it was just Odoul's Amber, he like Clausthauler or Kaliber. The place was packed, only two waitresses and did they hustle! They helped each other out, were attentive and very nice people. This is a great little place for those visiting the grandparents or to stop by and have a beer.More

Usually a great place to meet for happy hour or go with friends for supper.. Usually the older folks crowd the place by 4:30 for supper each night. Great place for us sports referees to go and watch sports on the 10pm news when we...get back to town from our events. Great central meeting location in town.More
