Food terrible . Used the take out service and didn't get the entire order . The taste of that burger will live with me forever. Had to brush teeth 3 times to try to get rid of taste. No point in toasting the ciabatta if...the food then drips with fat . Think it was ciabatta ?? Hard to tell when soaked 😬More

We booked a table for 2 at the last minute for a Sunday roast. We both had the roast pork. The meat and the vegetables were tasty and cooked well. We both had Yorkshire puddings - Mine was flat and half the size of my...Wife's. I did complain and the Waitress did bring me another normal sized one which was good. I am not sure how the plates can be sent out of the kitchen looking very different (despite being the same meal). The service overall wasn't very good. There seemed to be lots of members of staff and the pub was busy (every table was full) but we had to wait quite a while for someone to take our initial order and then there was a long wait to pay at the end too. The waiting staff weren't really on the ball. We had heard some good things about the Puffing Billy but our experience wasn't all its cracked up to be unfortunately. An OK place if you are desperate for a meal.More

Booked in for a Sunday Lunch. I ordered the lamb, it was awful! Half of the 'meat' on my plate was fat. Yuk. The whole meal was luke warm, the Yorkshire pud was cold and doughy. When I cut into the potatoes a flood of...oil spilled out onto my plate. This is supposed to be a quality place to eat. They were very busy, service was mediocre. I fed back my disappointment to the wait staff who said she was sorry to hear that. No-one (management) followed up, which was the least I expected. Needless to say we will not be returning. We are local people. The Saddlers, Lympstone offers so much more, fabulous carvery, and it's cheaper. Smarten up PB, you're going to lose your customers.More

Six of us ate lunch at the Puffing Billy a few days ago. All of the food was excellent (especially the steak and stuffed chicken breast!). Service was fast and friendly and the ambience good. Covid measures appeared good too. Value was particularly good with...the 25% offer in October. Can thoroughly recommendMore

Family of three. Dropped in here last minute wanting a quick midweek supper based on trip advisor comments. Great and Friendly staff. My son had the sausage and mash - loved it! I had the moules and my husband the fish and chips. Was great...value. Great food. And great team members...what’s not to like???More

Stopped here for lunch on the way back to London from Cornwall and it was excellent. Spotlessly clean and great Covid procedures - the sanitised individual packages of cutlery was a nice touch. Really good for children. Each of our 2 year old twins got...a little activity pack with their own set of crayons. Great service and really friendly staff. The food was also very quick to arrive which is just what you want with toddlers! Not super gastro in terms of food but pub grub of an excellent standard and just what we wanted. Would go for lunch again.More

Came across Puffing Billy on a random day out . The place was extremely busy as it was a nice day. The friendly staff found us a table with no problem. The food we ordered was freshly cooked and delivered hot . we enjoyed the...clean friendly atmosphere with excellent service. We liked it so much we returned a week later after completing a lovely Llama walk in Sidmouth and knew it would be a great end to our day. once again found the food and service excellent. we highly recommend a visitMore

Oh dear. A great disappointment - despite staff trying to do their best. The atmosphere was all wrong - cold, rushed and joyless. The place was clearly very busy - usually a great thing, but the staff were simply overwhelmed. Service was so slow and...food, frankly uninspiring. Perhaps I should not have expected more. Maybe this is simply what Covid does to a place we have long admired. If so, I’d rather stay at home and watch Nadiya on the telly. At least she brightens up one’s day.More

Very nice evening meal . Excellent service and very well COVID organised . Food could have been a bit hotter but both starters and mains were delicious .
