This is one of the best restaurants that we visited when we went on vacation with the family. The atmosphere is very familiar and cozy. The meals are very varied, from the most traditional Mexican dishes, desserts and drinks.

We stopped here for lunch and we ate in the bar section in the back with table service, and the bar area is very nice. I had the three taco meal and chose chorizo, barbacoa, and asada. My wife had the vegetarian chile relleno. The...food was plentiful, but not over the top, and very tasty. The chips and salsa were excellent as well. We had lime and mango margaritas and they were delicious as well. Our server was new, but VERY attentive and helpful. We got our food quickly and it was reasonably priced.More

Checked this place out for lunch this week for the first time. Very good good option in NE Minneapolis for authentic Mexican food. Food ordered in a cafeteria type line so service is quick the the food quality excellent. Will definitely return.

We recently visited this restaurant during a visit to Minneapolis. Being from Southern California, I didn't expect the food to be very good. It wasn't. The service was the worst. We sat for at least 15 minutes and very basically ignored. We were about to...walk out when our waiter decided to show up. He took our drink order then promised to be back with chips. It took him 10 minutes, but not before serving chips to three other tables. When they did arrive, the chips were stale and the salsa very watered down. When the food did arrive, it was cold. The only compensation we were offered was my wife's cousin got a free shake. It would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Go to Taco Bell when in Minneapolis if you want Mexican food.More

Stopped by for Cinco de Mayo. They had a special Cinco de Mayo menu. Each entree was offered for $10 and Margaritas for $3. The meals were very good but the Margarita was very bad. Very very bad. The server was very slow even though...there were plenty of servers on the floor. The server also was unfamiliar with the menu and how items were priced. That made it very confusing.More

We've enjoyed the great weekend buffet as well as food from the window where you choose your items and watch them being made. The stews on the buffet are so very flavorful. Us gringos need to suspend our expectation of meat that has been de-boned...and savor the flavors here. Very family friendly.More

Went to Maya Cuisine for the first time last weekend. The atmosphere is cheerful, the food was PLENTIFUL and the service was great. We had the brunch, and for the price, it was excellent. If you like authentic Mexican/Mayan food, this is the place to...go. Every kind of hot food, tacos, churros (which I love) and desserts. The soda is included, too. There were a lot of people there, but plenty of room at the food stations. Go there!More

Pleased with our first visit here. Table service in rear of building, pick up at front. I had Puerco en salsa verde and it was good; my wife had chile relleno and was a bit disappointed in it. Our companions enjoyed their meals. Server was...attentive. We arrived a bit before 7 p.m. on a Saturday and maybe a couple of tables occupied but by the time we left most tables full.More

Great food and an extensive help-yourself salsa bar. Maya has great food and large portions at a great price. My favorite is the taco salad with either veggie (fajita + potato), spicy chicken, or pork. The spicy chicken is slow cooked, juicy, tender, perfect. A...meal can be had for about $10 and the portions certainly allow for leftovers. Two people could easily split an entree for a lighter meal. This is the first place I have tried beef tongue (lengua). It is really tender and quite tasty. I have done both the counter service and sit down. There is also a very extensive brunch that I have looked over but never ordered. I think it is around $16 but had a ton of awesome looking dishes. The best thing about Maya is the salsa bar. It is help yourself and contains sour cream, jalepeno, onion, radish, and an array salsas. Maya is my favorite Mexican food in Minnneapolis, and favorite restaurant in northeast MPLS.More

I took my family here, after having twice enjoyed this place with a friend. I still love the array of salsas on offer. The taco salad is my new favorite; it's a little less messy to eat, and so big, one can easily get a...second meal out of it. We went on a Sunday and there also appears to be a Sunday brunch/buffet that looks very good. I did not ask about the price, but would consider trying that sometime also. Parking: Street parking. I just got back from Cancun and was CRAVING Mexican food. This was every bit as good as what I ate in Mexico. The fixing were fresh and the correct temperatures. Hot hot, cold cold... In addition they had a salsa bar so you could...help yourself to whatever you wanted (had a great ghost pepper). Also available were beer and soft drinks Next time I’m in Minneapolis I’ll go back...YUM.More

Maya is one of the cornerstones of Central Ave in NE which features a number of ethnic cuisines and grocery stores. The portions are huge, the ingredients are top notch, the staff is friendly, and service is quick. What more could you ask for? There...are two dining options at Maya, ordering at the counter and finding a seat in the front half of the restaurant or take it to go, or table service in the back half of the restaurant which is a bit fancier (and more expensive). The front half menu is traditional Mexican offerings of tacos, burritos, quesadillas, tortas, etc. In the back its prepared dishes, with a heavy fish and meat entree offering. The back half has fewer vegetarian options I found. The veggie burrito is my go to because the fajita style veggies are so good, especially the large slices of potato. The veggie burrito is also the only one that you can get a huge dollop of guacamole in for no extra charge.More

Not sure, but it's not really the place you need reservations. You can walk up to the counter and just order.
