It has been years since I have eaten at the Birchwood and I wonder why I have stayed away so long?! I love the neighbourhood atmosphere with its ambience of community friendliness. The expansion added more space and an expanded menu. The staff was both helpful and friendly. My friend and I had Buddha tea and a BLT sandwich for... More

We had a very nice breakfast at the Birchwood Cafe. The line almost chased us away, but the place is a well-oiled machine, so the wait was not too long. The coffee and scramble I had were awesome! My husband had the savoury waffle and enjoyed it too! The bike parking was very convenient.

I've had some great meals at The Birchwood Cafe, so last night's experience should probably not be taken as characteristic, but it was certainly disappointing. The place does like to crow about locally sources ingredients, so the NY Strip, new to the menu since I ate there last, should be a natural extension of things they do well. Left to... More

My husband, grown daughter and I had a late breakfast on a Monday morning. Food was spectacular. I had the heirloom BLT with sweet corn coulis. Daughter had beans and rice. Husband had waffles. Not a crumb was left. Service was prompt. Menu very descriptive and true. Atmosphere was fun. Menu is seasonal. Loved this place - will be going... More

Came here for my wife's birthday breakfast. It was very busy as we knew it would be. Wish they had a quieter room since talking was a challenge. Our eggs Benedict, green side salad and quiche were very tasty! I'd recommend the Benedict for sure!

Always a pleasure going to this neighborhood treasure. Friendly staff, great service and extraordinary food selection! Go there for lunch and bring dessert home. I love that they sever carbonated water on tap, and its completely to patrons. Try the pizza. Oh...and lots of vegan and gluten free options! Give them a try...if you have not already...you will not be... More

I drove by this place a couple of times, always seeing people sitting outside, a busy place, which is a good sign, before stopping in for a coffee. And since then I have stopped by each time I pass by. The coffee is great, as one would hope. The atmosphere is progressive / lefty, youngish, a bit too much for... More

Birchwood Cafe is located in a residential area of Minneapolis, easy to miss if you're not looking. Don't be dismayed if the line is long, it'll move quickly. Once inside the food is served with Liberal political sensibilities. The Birchwood Benedict is the specialty of the house, but other egg dishes and sandwiches are superb and reasonably priced. On-street parking... More
