Excellent food and service. I strongly recommend the heirloom grain salad with grilled shrimp. Two of my favorite things about this restaurant are the ease of having communication at your table, even during the busy lunch rush and the superb bourbon selection at their bar.

I like nothing better than being in a new city and finding a busy restaurant that feels like I'm hanging with the locals. Zelo is that place. It's great looking inside with terrific lighting, nice layout, simple white tablecloths on the tables and just the...right amount of customer buzz. I detest the term fine dining so I won't use it here. Zelo is upscale but not trying to be anything more than it is. The menu has something for everyone and the prices were very reasonable for an upscale restaurant which is probably why it's been around 20 some years (our server shared that tidbit). Reasonable prices, simple white tablecloths, top shelf service and great food, well it's hard to find all of that in one restaurant anymore. Our server, Jesse, made us feel right at home, she didn't hesitate to recommend dishes when we asked (and she was spot on with her suggestions) and paid us just the right amount of attention. I had the seafood linguine and it was full of shrimp, scallops, mussels and fish in a delicious broth. I almost licked the bowl. My colleague had the butternut squash ravioli and she raved about them. We finished our meal with a creme brulee and a lemon something that was superb. By the end of our meal we were almost sorry we had to leave, the experience was so satisfying. My colleague and I are here, in Minneapolis, on business and we both agreed that we'll make a second trip to Zelo tomorrow night and maybe try a collection of the small plates. Bravo Zelo !!More

Ate a late lunch here. Service was good and attentive and the food was lovely. I recommend this for anyone looking for a good, handy place to eat in the city centre.

The food we had was amazing! We tried the risotto and chicken fettuccine. The ambience was good and it didn’t take much time to be seated even for a busy Friday night. Will definitely go back.

This place is amazing! We ordered the Walleye special (comes with roasted Potatoes, wild mushrooms, sautéd spinach and a red wine butter sauce). It was delicious!!! Delicious!!! Dessert also fantastic!!! Caramel custard & Budino (warm, flourless chocolate cake). Erika was incredible! Super nice, great service...and gave wonderful recommendations!! We are staying downtown on S. 7th and this place is walking distance. We cannot say enough good things about this place!! Don’t think about it, just go!!! ❤️More

I went for Valentine's Day and was very disappointed in the service my date and I received. ALL night our server, Sarah, was leaning on our table to talk to us. You could feel the whole table move every single time. Since it was our...first time dining there we had high hopes because my significant other and I both love Italian food. Unfortunately, upon greeting us, Sarah failed to tell us anything about Zelo, including the specials that were available that day for the Valentine's holiday. We actually had to change our order after finding the special card and reading it ourselves. When we ordered our wine she joked, "And you guys are of drinking age, right?" instead of actually carding us. My date and I are both 29 but if you have to question someone's age, it is more professional to just ask for an ID. We constantly had to ask for basic service such as: plates so we could eat our appetizers on, plates so we could split our entrees (upon ordering we told her we wanted to split everything), and to clear the crumbs off the table after bread service. For some reason, our server thought it was acceptable to give us their tiny little bread plates to split our entree, so I had to ask for actual dinner sized plates. She was fumbling through her shirt just trying to find her crumber. Things were falling out so she had to step away. Not very classy. She also tried to blame the dirty table on her server assistant because it apparently is his job. My personal opinion, if he missed something, it was Sarah's job to catch it, correct it, and not make a scene of the situation. The guest shouldn't have to. Very shortly after dropping desserts on the table, she dropped our check. I absolutely hate when restaurants allow their servers to do this. Let people enjoy their entire meal, and drop the check when they are completely finished, unless the guest asks for the check sooner. I very well could have ordered a digestif. She was back and forth from our table taking payment from us while we tried to eat our dessert and talk. She came to grab the book once, and my boyfriend had not done anything with it, so she said, "oh sorry I'll be back." And after running the card, she came to retrieve the signed copy of the receipt but my boyfriend hadn't signed it because we were trying to eat, so she she apologized again and said she would be back. It was incredibly intrusive and made us feel like we had to hurry up and leave. I enjoyed the food which is why I would only choose to eat in the bar if I ever returned. You definitely do not receive white table cloth service at this restaurant. Nothing TOP NOTCH about it.More

We made a last minute decision to try and get into a nicer restaurant at 7 pm on a Friday night in Downtown Minneapolis. Zelo was very friendly and accomodating. They found us a tableright away and the hostess and waitress were both very friendly....I had a filet mignon steak sandwhich you could write home about. On a fresh baked roll that was not soggy and with a modest amount of cooked onions the steak was so tender that it melted in your mouth - fantastic. The crab cakes appetizer give a decent portion with two three inch cakes and the salads are good and pretty large portions. They have some nice wine selections but they are a little pricey. Very good food, good friendly service and a good atmosphere. Best of all they have complimentary valet service. No searching for parking or long walks.More

Often when you read reviews on here you get a mixed bag of opinions. My opinion is very favorable. I seldom venture into the downtown area. We had tickets to a show and wanted something close and to try something new. Service was excellent. Our...server was helpful and prompt with our order and bringing out the food. Our water glasses were never empty as someone was always looking after us. Food from start to finish was very good. The warm bread and butter was simply the best. For a main course I had ravioli and my wife had the linguini primavera. Both were very good. We had plenty of time so we shared a desert, the budino, chocolate cake with gelato. As with the of the other courses, excellent. We love Italian food and are pretty fussy. Zelo exceeded our expectations and help make a perfect evening. We will definitely be backMore
