You'd think in the 'Modern Food Era' that Minnesotans would know good food- the foody revolution has been around for 10+ years now. Well, they don't. Ted Cook's was the worst BBQ I have had in my entire life. I would've rather bought ANY grocery...store, premade q/ Floyd's etc.. were leaps and bounds better. I had been wanting to try Ted's for a long time, it was just so expensive. So, had the money and went. The ribs I got, besides being very dry (didn't taste like they were made recently) were SO smokey, even the sauce(which was meh) couldn't cover it up. If you could solidify smoke and eat it= That is EXACTLY what it tasted like. I spent 38 dollars, mostly meats. I threw most of it away after having tried all the different types. I was drunk and really hungry and could only put down about 1/3 of what I bought. Not only wasn't I full, but had no other food and it was late, and blew almost 40 bucks. How bad does something have to be to not be able to eat it DRUNK. I was so Pissed Off I thought about going back the next night and smashing all their windows, a thought that's never occured to me in my 52 years of buying dinner out. It ruined my night on a level that hadn't been done in awhile. So, go if you like horrible bbq, from a dude that has no idea how to cook it and I doubt ever samples it to see if it's any good. My co worker and myself got there first thing when they opened. We both had the rib tips dinners. I hate to say they were dried out. I understand why they sauce the heck out of them. These tips seemed they were done the day...before. The jojo’s were ok. Nothing to really write home about. The best about the meal was the Peach Cobbler.More

Messy messy messy. Think I got some sauce everywhere. I had the lunch special and it was a lot. Pulled beef sandwich, slaw and those skinny fry chip things. Recommend this place if you need a quick lunch joint.

I used to be crazy about this place...but probably have visited for the last time. we found the pork and beef ribs really salty. The guy working the till didn't ask what our side choices were and I'm not there often enough to be aware....The Jojo potatoes are nice, fresh home made potato chips.More

My favorite Rib joint in the Twin Cities. I love the sauce and the JoJo's. Always get an extra order of each. My wife likes Beef and have tried that on a couple of time and maybe it's the sauce for me but loved them...too. Still I have only been disappointed with the Pork slabs a few times. Nobodies perfect. I always get the dinner so I get my two pieces of bread, white and wheat, and cole slaw. Tradition lives on.More

The ribs SOLID, the potatoes AWESOME, but ask for an extra piece of hot corn bread! The flavor EXCEPTIONAL! This place is take out only... so be strategic about driving to a park or just chow down in your car!

If you have a love for a Carolina style BBQ, then Ted Cook's is the place in the Twin Cities to get your fix. It is a takeout only setup and the food is amazing! Try the beef brisket, as it has the best smoke...on it and the sauce is fabulous!More

I love bar-b-que. I even have a mission to find the best in the area. I went to this place twice, less than a year apart. The food, take-out only, is definitely good. I tried it twice just to make sure the first time was...just an off-day but both times it just missed that complete range of tender, moist, smokey and meaty. Perhaps 3 perhaps 4 stars. I did not mind that the interior and ambiance were close to the seedy side as I have been to a few great places in Missouri with the same personality. If you do not have your sights set too high it is fine.More

Be aware this is a take out only BBQ joint and the food is awesome! I intentionally drive a different way home so that I don't have to smell it when I drive by because it smells so good! The rib tips and pulled pork...are my favorite along with the potato chips (more like half dollar fries) and the peach cobbler dessert.More
