I highly recommend the cod bowl for lighter fare and my husband loves the pineapple chicken bowl. Both were very flavorful and you felt like you were eating healthy. We have been here often and the food has always been very good. The atmosphere is...always warm and welcoming with a fireplace going all winter long and several different types of seating. Almost exclusively decorated in a beautiful dark cherry, I think it is the most welcoming restaurant/bar in Mankato. The prices can be a bit high and ordering little extras like a tarter sauce will cost you. I would not really call this a “family” restaurant due to alcohol being served, however the place is usually pretty tame so it wouldn’t bother me to eat here with kids. The staff have always been top notch. If you are coming to town for a concert and looking for a place to eat (or drink) I would get there early.More

We were from out of state and went to a concert at the Mayo Clinic Event Center 10/30/2022 and picked Pub 500 based on star rating and proximity to the venue. This place did not disappoint! We both had the pulled pork and both rated...it an A+. It was so juicy and flavorful. We didn't have to wait for a table, or food came out quick and the place was beautiful! We will definitely be back If we are ever in Mankato again.More

I loved our waitress and hostess. We had to wait for a table as the place was hopping and our hostess kept us informed about how much longer we'd have to wait. She was friendly and informative. Our server was wonderful as well. In fact,...our server and hostess are a huge reason we're giving Pub 500 a four star. The food was just okay. Nothing to write home about. It's obvious that this is more a place to come and get a few drinks and hang with friends. I ordered a dark beer and it was delicious as was my husbands hard cider. So, basically, if you want a good meal, go somewhere else, but if you want to just hang with friends and have a few drinks, this is the place.More

Our servers were super friendly, efficient and welcoming. We sat on the terrace and were served our drinks promptly ( often times I’ve found that outside service suffers in many restaurants when most customers are inside). The food was delicious and interesting. The concept of...serving sandwiches as a “ bowl” option allowed us to omit the bread. Perfect for us! We had our pup with us and everyone was very gracious in allowing us to choose the right table in the corner. Very dog friendly place. Big thumbs up and recommended. We will go back.More

Love every opportunity I get to visit Pub 500!! It has a fun welcoming environment that has that consistent, comfortable feeling. I particularly would like to recognize how hard the staff worked upon my recent visit. Despite all that’s been thrown at the restaurants lately...it’s nice to be able to get back out and feel welcomed back! Missed that pulled turkey with those chips you literally can’t stop eating. Brought home a blood orange sour mix it was so good, still can’t believe you can do that now!!!More

Best restaurant food I've had all year. They take safety seriously and I appreciate that. The salmon was excellent! I took pulled pork to my neighbors and they raved about it! I'll be back next time I'm in town. The price was right too, very...fair for the quality. Service and food were excellent.More

Nearly twice the price of Blue Bricks the food service took nearly an hour and it was tasteless and dry - other than the walleye sandwich the rest of our food was a step below frozen microwave meals. At over $130 for 2 children and...3 adults we were expecting much, much more - terrible in every way.More

Good social distancing practice here. Food was overall good. Our 11 year told requested for me to rate this place a 10 he had the hickory burger and loved it. Good attentive service.

We met our son and daughter in law at a half way point in Mankato. We chose Pub 500 because of reviews and outdoor seating. We were given a tiny laminated symbol to put into our cell phone to read the menu. Our phones weren't...working correctly and we are old! On my way to the restroom I spotted numerous paper menus. I grabbed two for the party of 4. The manager had the nerve to stop by our table, direct us to the laminated version and shame us for using the paper menus!! When I said we are old, he commented "You can learn new tricks" Very rude for a businessman trying to re-build an eating establishment in a dwindling town without college students! In the twin cities restaurants are bending over backwards to establish their clientele pre-Corona. Not so in Kato! The service was also not up to par. Our waitress (in booty shorts) came for our order within minutes of getting the menu. Dah! Who has time to even look, let alone make a decision. Perhaps she is new. She never asked about Coke refills. I had to flag her down and even then didn't ask anyone in our group if THEY wanted one! Luckily they didn't. The food....The fish and chips were good but so greasy my arteries are screaming!!!!! Two of us unfortunately ordered that and will need to see the cardiologist. They could at a minimum, drain it before you serve it. They provide ONE paper napkin so you can't even pat the grease off and server was who knows where?!? The other outdoor server appeared to be fabulous to her customers---very attentive, saw refills coming out, checking on them. Get it together, Pub 500 before it might get busy. And manager, be nice to old people with smart phones, we aren't a savvy as you in Kato!! I did see others with the real paper menu and didn't see you stopping by their table! We left booty shorts a very good tip despite her incompetence/inexperience.More

The hostess and waiter were extremely attentive to our distracted group of chatterboxes! Everyone loved their meals! The fish sandwich was out of this world!

Food was great, they have vegan options! That was my original reason for visiting and it was a perfect choice. However, the jewel in the crown was our server Ashtin. She is warm, engaging, genuine, knowledgeable, efficient, and has a great sense of timing. I...have traveled the world, dined in all kinds of restaurants, and I must say she is one of the best servers I have ever had. Shout out to manager Jay too for being friendly and helpful. I will visit Mankato again just to enjoy Pub 500!More
