We stopped in Floodwood for fuel and hoped to find lunch in this little town. There were only two restaurants open. The burger place and the Portage. We both ordered the broasted chicken and we were not disappointed. It was excellent. The staff was friendly...and attentive. Highly recommended if you are ever here.More
We stayed at the Stardust next door and it was nice to be able to just walk over! Great little bar/restaurant, rustic and great decor. There was a large, private dining room on the other side but must just be open during season. We sat...at the bar and Cheryl was our delightful, friendly server. Small town and probably not easy to find good jobs there. The drinks were great and we had to order the Broasted chicken...I got the 2 piece and my husband the 4 piece so we could have leftovers....it was by far, the juciest, tastiest, best done Broasted Chicken we have had...ever!!! I don't know their recipe but someone knows how to do it right!!! The homemade cole slaw was also excellent and tasty! Do yourself a favor and stop by for the broasted chicken! You won't be disappointed and the price is right! Enjoy....More
We stopped here on our way through town to grab a quick lunch. My burger was average at best. Service was very kind, and prices were average. I have heard the broiled chicken is GREAT - so I’d recommend trying that if you’re stopping.
This is well appointed, and was filled with locals gather in this small close-community.
There wasn’t quite silence when we walked in, but it was like “You’re not from these parts, are you?” (sort of “League of Gentemen” Royston Vasey stuff).
Barmaid wasn’t exactly helpful...and slow in taking our order for draft beer. Asked for a particular type. Answer: “We’ve run out”
“OK - some Bells Two-Hearted, please”
“Nope! There’s none”
We were handed a list. Most beers on it were not available.
We ended up having some Alaskan Amber.... which was surprisingly good.
If passing through Floodwood, my recommendation would be to keep on driving!More
This North woods style spot offers simple, tasty comfort food. The broasted chicken came in 2 or 4 piece portions alongside jojo (slabs of seasoned, fried potatoes), French fries or homemade potato chips and coke slaw. The chicken was crisp, hot, moist and flavorful and...the chips/fries were crisp. The sandwiches were served on thick slabs of bread and featured plenty of protein. The drinks are regularly refilled without having to ask and the service was polite and friendly.More
