The atmosphere is fun and laid-back. The service is great, with friendly and knowledgeable servers. The food was out of this world! I can not wait to head back to Duluth and stop by Fitger's Brewhouse Brewery and Grille.
We sat in the very neat small lounge/bar across from the main restaurant area. Inviting atmosphere and the drink menu seemed extensive with many "crafty" sounding options. I ordered from the fall menu - cinnamon old fashioned. I received a drink minus the two garnishes...listed on the menu and it was served in a small rocks glass. Right before the bartender (Nate) gave it to my husband he added a piece of ginger to it, and told my husband he didn't have the cinnamon stick garnish (I don't think he knew it was also supposed to come with an apple slice).
When I first saw it on the bar, my husband asked me if it was my drink and I insisted it couldn't be based on it looking like a shot of something in the tiny glass it was in without the garnishes. The rock's glass was very small - suitable if I had ordered a shot of liquor or asked for something, "on the rocks", but not a cocktail like an old-fashioned. The taste was ok, but really the only true flavor I could tasted may have been the St. Germain.
I was really disappointed in the presentation, a bit on the taste and certainly in the lack of care from the bartender to serve a drink he couldn't prepare as listed. When we asked about this his response was that he had been gone for 2 weeks and he was told to serve it in this tiny rocks glass. For a $10 drink it wasn't ok. He said he'd make me a regular old-fashioned in a regular old-fashioned glass. OMG, it was one of the worst old-fashioned drinks I've ever had. Burning with booze and bright cherry red from the cheap maraschino cherries he muddled in the bottom. Then, to add insult to injury, when he brought me that drink he took the original one! BAD SERVICE, bad execution, bad drink.
If they are trying to present themselves as a craft cocktail bar there is a vast amount of improvement needed.More
Has patio and indoor seating (although unclear if indoor seating complying with social distancing measures). Great beer selection. I had an excellent IPA. Menu has many (clearly marked) vegetarian options. I tried one of the wild rice veggie burgers. The burgers are made in-house. It...was not amazing, but much better than the veggie burger options that most regular (non-vegetarian) restaurants provide (I'd rate it a 7/10). My partner had the artichoke chicken sandwich. It was chicken sandwich with artichoke spinach dip. He gave it a 6/10. The sandwiches came with fries, which were good. The service was good.More
Fitger's is such a unique, multi-floor and multi-purpose property that it really is a must see while in Duluth! My husband and I enjoyed beer/cider in the Barrel Room. We ordered a pork sandwich and chicken sandwich which were average (thus the 4-rating). We then...hit the shops which include shoes, clothing and kitchen items.More
This was a really cool restaurant with awesome craft beer! This is not fine dinning or healthy food, but if you’re looking for a sloppy, greasy, bad for you but tastes so good meal, this is the place!! Great location in an old hotel right...on the lake! We used call ahead sitting to cut down on the wait time as this is a popular spot. I would visit again!More
Had a fun dinner with friends, as they recommended this place. Great beers on tap and quirky and yummy food options. Particularly good was the elote dip, with sweet corn and creamy but spicy poblano and cheese and blue corn chips!
We waited 10-15 minutes and no one came to our table. I went to the bar, thinking this might be the way to order. Was told that someone would come. We immediately ordered beverages and food - for fear they would disappear and not return...for another 10-15 minutes. The food was VERY slow in coming. Apparently, they needed the time to overcook the burgers. They were successful on that count. On an up-note, the french fries were perfect!More
