I called for reservations and was told one was not needed. I asked if they were having an evening special and was told yes, however she did not know what it was. We arrived around 5:30 and there were only two tables being served. We were the third. We were seated and menus given. The first words, from our waitress were, what they did not have on the menu. We viewed the menu online and were all set for Steak and Ribs, which were not available.
We had a dinner beverage and decided to leave. We had to run down the waitress to pay, apparently she also works in the kitchen as well as wait tables. I gave this an AVERAGE rating giving them the benefit of doubt.

Great food and place for lunch. Cordial waitstaff! Black bean chili was excellent. Will definitely go there again.

It ranks among the worst food experiences in all my travels. The room is very warm and pleasant.
The ribs were dry and flavourless. The corn side dish was pasty and overly sweetened. Coleslaw was not fresh. Very few options for gluten free. Food came out cold. Will not go back!

The staff was friendly and the food good. I had the pan fried walleye and it was quite tasty. It came with salad, potato choice and vegetable. It was a quieter time, but everyone was quite helpful.

This is the 3rd year our ski team has called well in advance for reservations at the restaurant. Each year, the restaurant has been understaffed and extremely slow. This year, the staff told our group someone had changed our reservation numbers. (We’re fairly certain that they confused our reservation with another group). Regardless, the staff appeared irritated with the large group we had. And, just like past years, it took over TWO hours to get food! Not ok. On top of that, the waitress/staff acted put out with our business. All of this - the failure to plan appropriately for large groups, mediocre staff, and extremely late food means we will NOT be using this restaurant again.

Our group of six was staying at the nearby Giants Ridge Villas and were there on bikes so were sort of captive, as we had not brought supplies for cooking in our lodging. The desk person at the Villas recommended the Sleeping Giant Restaurant/Bar as a quicker, less expensive alternative to the Lodge. I couldn't the Sleeping Giant on Trip Advisor so am submitting my review here instead. We ate there for dinner and breakfast. Both times, we waited for about a half hour before getting beverages and then another long wait (30 minutes in the morning, almost 60 minutes at night) before our food came to the table. Both times, the table servers were sweet, under-trained, and generally sort of clueless, and both seemed to be covering way more tables than they could manage. It's in a big, open area with tables scattered over a lot of floorspace, and the space is attractive, but the staff didn't seem to have much of a game plan about seating people, getting their drinks, or getting the food out. It took so long to get a requested second beer that I hiked over to the bar and got it myself. Once we were finally served, the food was nice--I enjoyed my walleye dinner and felt like I'd worked up quite an appetite by the time it arrived. I assume that the Lodge dining room is better organized. Plan accordingly.

We went to The Lodge at Giants Ridge as a family get away. We had a total of 7 people and stayed in a 3 bedroom. The room was beautiful, with plenty of space and a awesome kitchenette to use during our stay.
The people were awesome, Doug at the front desk was the kindest, so helpful, we orginally booked a 3 night stay, but were having so much fun, we extended another night, and he helped make that happen at a fantastic rate.
The Bar/Restaurant was really nice, had everything we could have wanted.
The actual snowboarding was so great!! The runs are perfectly groomed each night and are like brand new each morning! Much appreciated!!
We most certainly will be visiting again next year!!! Looking so forward to it!!!

Went to The Lodge after a full day of skiing. On Saturdays they have a special on Prime Rib. It is fantastic! The service was phenomenal, and the food was great! Big dining room with lots of space. Great place for kids and adults!
Highly recommend it!

We ordered the prime rib special (which was very good) and chicken nachos. The chicken nachos consisted of mostly chips and lettuce, with little cheese and other ingredients, but since they were half off during a happy hour special, we didn't mind. The drinks were reasonably priced. The food was prepared quickly and our waitress was very nice. The restaurant is cozy and has big windows for looking out at the ski hills. Old and interesting pictures are hung on the walls of the restaurant and hallways.

Stopped for lunch, big ski resort with a nice lodge. Service in the restaurant was great and so was the lunch. I will want to come back here again when we can spend the weekend.

This was our third time visiting for a family ski vacation. The last two years we book far enough in advance to get a very nice 4 bedroom suite. This year we were unlucky enough to book on the same weekend of a X country ski race. So we ended up with 4 smaller rooms to hold our entire family. When we checked in, they placed our family spread evenly throughout the resort, not even attempting to get us close together even though multiple family members asked for the rooms to be close. Not only did the Cross country ski race cancel, our 6 cars were about 1/2 of the cars in the parking lot but still they would not give us rooms close together or even allow us to upgrade to multiple room suites to be close together. Maybe it was coincidence, but for my troubles they gave me room 233 which is directly above the bar and stage of the band that plays very loud. Even when the band was not playing, my kids could hear individual voices of the patrons of the bar talking loudly. So when I went down to complain that my young kids couldn't sleep, the man told me because of the mass amount of cancelations, they could change me to a multiple bedroom suite at no charge...... I was both happy at the accommodation and furious as this one room could have held 3/4 of my family and we would have had a huge table for common meals to eat together. This room was available the entire time and even though we asked for this type of room, multiple times they would not allow us to change! Did I also mention that the rooms were not clean and in one of the rooms the glassware was all sticky and the sheets contained small curly hairs...... That even though the guest numbers were very limited, the pool ran out of towels..... Our last night at The Lodge at Giants ridge was spent talking about where we should go next year in place of Giants Ridge........

We have had Thanksgiving dinner at Giants Ridge for a number of years prior to this, Thanksgiving 2016. This year, the Thanksgiving buffet location was moved from The Lodge to the new event center, Burnt Onion. In addition to location, there also was a change to no longer to accept reservations any time but on the two-hour block (i.e. 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m....). The consequence of this decision was significant. There was a large crowd waiting to check in all at the same time for seating, crowded beyond the waiting area when we arrived about five or ten minutes ahead of our setting. Necessarily, the servers all received all of their tables at the same time, and thus the room all was moving to the buffet line at the same time. Staff scrambled to keep the buffet line adequately stocked with plates and food. Reservations are required, and we had made ours early due to a guest in our party who is disabled and needs some consideration for where we are seated. By the time we reached the head of the queue to check in, our reservations had been given away, our name crossed off and replaced with another, the size of the party crossed off for a different size group (although our confirming phone number not crossed off, nor apparently confirmed). After some time, we were led to another table that wouldn't accommodate our parties' need, but thankfully that table turned out already to be occupied. Our eventual table was a large round table twice the size of our party. Our server was friendly but immediately let us know that her eight tables were more than she could manage. We did receive our initial beverage requests, and--true to her word--no refills or clearing of plates until we were settling the bill, nor could we get a spoon needed by one guest, none of our set-ups having spoons. The food was good, better than many buffet offerings. The new setting is a single, open space, is pleasant and light-filled, but was more challenging for conversation. The view of the ski slope from the back windows is striking. Access for people with disabilities is to the side of the building and up an elevator; the main entrance is up an extended flight of stairs. Table arrangements were such that access to the buffet line or ancillary food stations takes navigation and wending, likely not maneuverable if someone uses a walker or other support. While this location in no way works anymore for our family with this year's changes, it could be a good option for a group for whom the limitations we experienced--noise, service, access--would not be relevant.

We had lunch before golf. Service was good. BLT's were just fine. The salads had some bad lettuce. Would not go out of my way to eat here but if golfing at the Legend it's just fine.
