Good food and atmosphere

Have always been a fan of their chicken wild rice soup. Recent updates and improvements have brought the quality of this restaurant back significantly.

Food is good. Large portions. Service was great. Our server offered recomendations that were spot on. We will definitely be returning the next time we are in the area.

We walked into the Black Bear Lodge and Saloon early for the dinner hour and were greeted warmly. We were seated right by the fireplace and it felt like the waitress gave us special attention. She was very knowledgeable about the food and wine, and her service was efficient even when other diners were seated. The walleye was absolutely fantastic!... More

Stopped by for a quick late lunch. Sat at the bar with business colleague. Greeted by bar manager. Had a chicken club salad which was outstanding. Enjoyed a Gull Dam Scotch Ale, which is a locally brewed beer by Gull Dam Brewing. Really nice relaxing lunch!

The prime rib is to die for! LOVE LOVE LOVE. My husband and I always enjoy and the atmosphere is great. Nice and quiet low light.

The food off the regular menu is fantastic and they have the best gluten free menu in the Brainerd Lakes area. The price is great for the portions.

I've eaten here every trip to the area. Good food, good service and a perfect location near waterpark hotels.

We were seated in the saloon area. Took an hour for meal to arrive at table. Reason was "the dining room was packed" and waitress had to work both rooms. Fish tacos were good. Reuben was "the toughest corned beef" she had ever had. Cuban sandwich was very salty. Would not recommend this restaurant on Friday evening.

I have to eat gluten free and this is the BEST PLACE EVER to get gf food. They have a wonderful menu and even make their own gf buns. The "regular" food cannot be surpassed ANYWHERE. The service is just beyond words. We travel to MN for two weeks every year and we eat at "The Bear" every day. It... More

It's been awhile since we went there, because we were very disappointed in the food. It is a popular restaurant so have to give it another chance.
