Drove past this place for years thinking it was a dive bar but, boy, we were wrong. Upscale very good food. Decor is nothing fancy. Jambalaya had a definite cumin spice to it but was very good flavor nonetheless. Chicken cordon bleu had a wonderful...butter cheese sauce on top. Great veggies on the side. They recommend reservations and I understand why as it was packed. Will try again.More

If I could give more stars, I would! The Tipsy Bear is an absolute gem. The menu is upscale without being pretentious, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is very comfortable. My husband had the prime rib sandwich and fries, and I enjoyed the...beef tenderloin kebobs. We devoured the cherry creme brulee, which was a daily special. We’ve been to all 50 states and eat out often, and the Tipsy Bear’s menu stacks up against MUCH higher-priced establishments. The ingredients were clearly high-quality and fresh, prepared and presented with attention-to-detail. The service was efficient, without making us feel rushed. And the owner made a point of visiting each table, including ours, to greet customers and answer questions. Living more than 90 minutes away, we’re not locals but we will be sure to return to West Branch specifically to dine at the Tipsy Bear again soon!More

The food is never disappointing as with many other local restaurants unfortunately. Fish is very good. My only suggestion is the decor and such need to updated, it looks dirty. It would cost too much; paint and some updated decorative decor would work.

Our group of 14 was fortunate enough to choose the Tipsy Bear Bistro for a recent family birthday event. We sat in the semi-private room and it was just perfect. Maddy was our server and she was the best, and her support staff were all...very friendly and attentive as well. The owner popped in a few times to make sure that we had everything we needed and to thank us for being there. All 14 of us agree, and that's not always easy to do, that the outstanding food, exemplary service, and quaint atmosphere made our experience there an evening to remember.More

Hadn’t been here in several years. It used to be one of my late husbands favorite places. His best friend was visiting so I decided to take him there. The food was every good as I remember! I had the chicken tortellini and practically licked...the plate! The service was a little slow, but we weren’t in any hurry. The owner came out and talked to everyone. My friend was very impressed that that happened in such a small place. I won’t wait so long Togo backMore

On a positive note, after several visits, the food continues to be very good with a notable chef. The service and ambience are not of the same quality. The atmosphere is very casual and waitresses seem to take little interest in their level of service....The restaurant itself could use much updating. If you are primarily seeking quality food with little else then pay a visit.More

The food is always good there, but the entire place needs a badly needed deep cleaning and facelift before we come back again.

We were recommended this place by a few people and decided to stop in. So glad we did, we had nachos, tortellini, and chicken carbonara. Everything was so good! Topped it off with vernors and captains. Our waiter Devin was awesome, helpful, and attentive. Would...definitely return.More

A bit surprised by the upscale menu. Place looks like a typical small town restaurant on the outside but the food and drink offered inside where very nice and reasonably priced. We'll be back next time we're in West Banch.

Tip: call in advance to get a reservation. Be aware that using a credit card will incur a 4% charge on top of the bill. Keep in mind that most restaurants build this in but the Tipsy Bear is upfront about not doing so. After...receiving a tip that the Tipsy Bear Bistro had good food, we drove 30 minutes to the town of West Branch. Tipsy Bear is a small building located next to the railroad just outside the main downtown area. The building is rather non descript and the interior somewhat plain but what the building lacks in appearance it's clear that the energy and effort has been put into service and the food. We've now eaten there twice and had stellar food and service both times. Our first meal was the Ribeye Steak Boursin & Fries and the Grilled Chicken Tortellini. The steak was cooked perfectly and simply the best steak I've had in years. My wife had the Tortellini which was also flavorful. Dinner was topped off with the German Chocolate Creme Brulee which was absolutely fabulous. Our second meal was the Crab Stuffed Salmon Napoleon and the Shrimp Macaroni and Cheese. As someone who finds that I can cook salmon better than most restaurants, I was blown away at the wonderful taste of the Crab Stuffed Salmon. Finished with the German Chocolate Creme Brulee and their lemon torte cake. While the torte was very good, both my wife and I agree that the creme brulee is the best we've had so far. Service was helpful, friendly and timely. The 2nd time we sat at the bar at the entrance of kitchen where the staff gather on and off during lulls. It was clear to me that there is a general sense of comradery. Our food came out within 10 minutes of ordering both times. Any real downsides? I use the bathroom at restaurants to get an idea of their overall approach to cleanliness. Needs some work. - Food: 5 stars - some of the best food I've had in a long time - Service: 5 stars - Atmosphere: 3 stars - Cleanliness: 4 stars except for the bathroom, 2 stars Bottom line: We are going to revisit the Tipsy Bear Bistro every chance we can. Highly recommend!More

My appetizer soup (that was more like a chili) unfortunately was just average. I had the Korean kabob on a bed of rice that was very good and priced accordingly. Food came out quickly with great service. Large wine selection with craft beer available. Quaint,...up north atmosphere with plastic table coverings and paper napkins. Indoor/outdoor seating with full bar. Unsure if they had Wi-fi. Street and side building parking. Bring cash if you don’t want to pay a 4% credit card fee. Sorta takes away from the style of the establishment and might be better just to be worked in the cost of your entree. I would return.More

All of the food we ordered was just ok. We had the prime rib sandwich, chicken gyro, steak salad and a grilled cheese with tomato soup. The soup was good, but the other dishes were all very light on the meat, leaving us all unsatisfied...for the $55. Also they charge an charge to use a credit card.More

Friends recommended this place and it was well worth it. We had the beef medallions and they were cooked to perfection. We went early and didn't make a reservation, it looked like they would be needed during prime dinner time. Will definitely go back.
