Small little place in a shopping center.
We ordered a large chickpea soup, cedar planked salmon and a chicken shawarma dinner with hummus instead of rice. Changed the large chickpea soup to a lentil soup, which will take about 10 minutes. We asked for our salad at least since we are both quite hungry. At least they are flexible here.
Our waitress was friendly, she makes the soup fresh for us. She said everything is freshly made or order. Takes a bit of time since everything is made fresh 20-25 minutes or so.
The salad looks so good, fresh, tastes so robust with their dressing and so yummy.
The chicken shawarma dinner looked so good and my cedar planked salmon looked so appetizing. The chicken was nicely seasoned, hummus was good, somewhat chunky. The salmon was perfectly baked.
The veggies with my salmon was nicely grilled.
The lentil soup was done and came after our meal, which we expected since we knew it would take some time to make from scratch. It tasted quite different, wasn’t my thing, my husband liked it though, agreed it wasn’t what we expected.
The service and food here were quite delicious.
Do bring a warm coat, it’s cold and drafty every time the door opens here.

In American urbia and suburbia there is no longer the road less travelled. We must rely on the diamond in the rough, meaning where is that independent restaurant among the chains? The bookstores may be gone forever, but there is still a courageous type of food lover and entrepreneur willing to bring us their special gift: good food with love.
That is exactly Sahar at Lolo Potluck has done.
She has brought Egypt to Troy, Michigan and she is happy to tell you how it got there.
Duck in and order at the counter. Sit down or take out. Or, UberEats.
The ambition of the menu which covers Egypt, but somehow mixes in mozzarella sticks and calamari and goulash.
I went with the Egyptian fare which was probably a first for me. When in Rome...I went with the Egyptian Koshary ($9.99), a blend of pasta, rice, lentils, and chick peas topped by crispy fried onions. I don't know if this is how they truly eat in Alexandria, but i trust Sahar.
Bon apetit.
