Stella's has been a part of the lively Traverse City restaurant scene for a number of years, and I am pleased to say that it continues to maintain its high standards for cuisine and for service. On a Sunday evening during shoulder tourist season, the restaurant, which seats some 180 people was full. Reservations are strongly recommended. Wine selection is... More

Stella is really one of the few five star restaurants in Northern Michigan. My rating of 4 stars is only because Stella competes against itself and the past meals we have had there over the years, which are hard to live up to every time. The things we love: -beautiful atmosphere in a lively fun restaurant that was hopping on... More

Lunch at Stella's is an occasion to remember. The soups are fabulous as are the sandwiches and flatbreads. Their bread is over the top delicious. At in the alcove which is a bit creepy at first but once the staff comes over to chat the ambiance becomes warm.

Very unique because of its location in the old state hospital. This was the forth time we ate there when we were traveling to TC. As before, the food was outstanding, with great service that went out of their way to make sure you were attended to. We love Italian food and their individual approach to prepare your none standard... More

This place was recommended by an employee at Bowers Harbor Winery as not your typical Italian restaurant. The menu is far from ordinary, but our server Moe was fantastic at explaining it and offering suggestions. Since we weren't super hungry, my sister and I split the fresh heirloom tomato caprese and a flat bread fresh pizza. Plenty to share and... More

Stella is situated in the basement of a retired and converted hospital, along with diverse shops and businesses. The seating is suggestive of catacombs, with many subrooms connected by brick arches and providing a welcome sense of privacy. Stella presents an unconventional menu. For example, rather than standard steak, chicken and fish, they offer boar, brains, lamb, and monkfish, each... More

not my thing. Felt creepy to me. My wife agreed. Menu is very foreign with no regular favorite Italian dishes. Ecclectic is the word for it.

This was a fantastic surprise to find such a great Italian restaurant. You will not be disappointed with anything you order here. Homemade pasta is hard to beat. My husband loved his steak. They source locally as well. Thank you for being here Stella's !

My husband enjoyed his lamb entree very much. I loved my mozzarella and tomato salad with local heirloom tomatoes. I did not enjoy my pasta - not that it wasn't prepared well. It is that I find Stella's food a bit too "rustic" for my palette. Our server Stuart was excellent as was the entire staff at Stella's. We requested... More
