Do not judge a book by its cover. The road appeal of this place does not draw you in but the flavor and quality of the food is well worth a visit while in Traverse City. The homemade jam and biscuits is amazing!! I wouldn’t say the staff is overly warm and friendly but come with friends and family and you won’t be disappointed in the food.

The front of Frenchies doesn't look inviting, but go down the right side to peruse the menu, then step to the window and ring the bell. A lovely lady will ask how many and direct you to the back covered patio to be seated viewing the flowers and greenery. There's a chalk board of breakfast items, which are served for lunch as well, and a printed menu for lunch and drinks. The pastrami sandwich was huge and rated tops by my husband. My warmed chicken sausage-spinach sandwich on fresh bread was also delicious. Set aside the time to sit back, relax, enjoy the ambience, owner, and vittles!

Sometimes the owner can be grouchy. The food is outstanding and what food is all about. So many pretentious places opening in TC and they have fancy trendy stuff and the food is average, and service staff lacking service. Frenchies, you go in with expectations and they always exceed them. He is an artist and a restaurant I will frequent often. On a scale of one to 10 it is a 20, but again, don’t expect warm and fuzzies from the owner. Kinda like the soup natzi personality, but I guarantee you will love it. It is REAL!

Girls trip! My three friends and I drive 4 hours out to traverse city and we’re so excited for our first stop to be here! We arrived at 1:15 and the place closes at 2. There was 2 orders ahead of us. The inside was closed so you can only order to go. There happened to be only one cook making the food, no problem we patiently waited. One of my girlfriends ordered her sandwich then came my other friend. When it was time for my last friend and I to order we we’re told “we are closed “ . Waiting around for 45 minutes I really thought he was being sarcastic. I said”we are with them and you are making each order one by one “. What Happened next I can’t even put into words. We were told “ so you want me to stay after and cook food for you“ . I said we drove 4 hours and are together and been here since 1:15! He said I don’t care. My husband owns a restaurant and would never ever treat anyone this way ! Mind you he was screaming and sooooo rude! Like a miserable human !! He was a monster actually ! He then shut the window in my face (almost slamming my hand ) . I said ok then can I have a knife ? We were going to split the sandwiches my other two friends got at least ! He said “no” and put up the closed sign right in my face ! I called him a jerk and told him I can’t believe this ! He then went around closing the other windows of the restaurant and shouting “f you”. At this point my friends and I were like “let’s go , this is the behavior of the crazies that end up pulling out a rifle or something “. I will never ever support this place ! I walked over to the store next door after and the guy there said “yup he’s a miserable soul “. Mind you when my 2 friends ordered there food if they dared asked a question about the menu he gave them the biggest attitude. Do not support this jerk! Also the food that we did order was nothing special at all !

What a place! My girlfriend and I came here while visiting and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! A true hidden gem, I had their freshly made OJ that was sooo good! She had a chi tea that was also to die for! The food was excellent! Most notably the biscuits and jam stood out the most, what a treat! Will always be a must visit when we come back!

An amazing little breakfast nook. This is the one you are looking for. Had the Huevos Rancheros and Salmon Omellete with (yes) a side of delightful pastrami. Delicious fresh baked bread. The coffee is termed the "cup of mud" which is fitting. Good and thick. Not over-priced. Delightful.

Wonderful food and happy customers. Monte Christo is great as is the special for the day. Just down the street from a nice bread shop and near by to the Bay.

It’s pastrami, pastrami and pastrami T Frenchie’s, home of the guy nicknamed Mr. Congeniality. He was great when we were there but my bf is a bit of a regular. He loves the place and I do, too.

Best Manticristo sandwich and Juaho Rancherso eggs anywhere in Michigan. Food very good. Very small place with inside outside garden seating. Off Grand Traverse Bay in Michigan

This was the best omelette I have ever had. It’s so quaint. Made to order. Everyone was so nice. Coffee was amazing. The garlic potatoes are so worth it.

We were meeting family members for breakfast & googled a restaurant with outdoor dining. Frenchie’s website listed breakfast at 10 AM, outdoor dining, good reviews & convenient for all to meet. We met before 10 & was waiting for it to open. Since they said they had outdoor dining, one of family member walked to the back to check out their garden patio to see if they could seat 5 people which included a 3 year old. The weeded, overgrown walkway did not have any signs posted to indicate it was closed (DO NOT ENTER, KEEP OUT or etc.). A man came rushing out the door yelling that there is no self seating. I apologized & returned to waiting in line for them to open. Before they opened the window to order, they posted a handwritten sign with the menu items which was not the same as their website. When we got to the window to order, we asked to sit in the garden patio even though it was a “DUMP”. The same man said it was closed. We said their website stated they had outdoor dining. He rudely said the “website was S___!”. Needless to say, we did not stay to eat & told him we were leaving because of his rudeness, He became Belligerent & he came running out the door very confrontational. We would avoid this establishment if traveling through Traverse City because the place was a dump and the personnel was so rude & belligerent. We know & appreciate this is a difficult time with COVID 19 but it is no excuse for his behavior.

We ate there yesterday...we have eaten there on prior trips to Traverse City and in our view it has clearly declined in quality of food and service. Showed up just before 11 am (brunch seating) and were told it was a 15-20 minute wait but we observed there was open seating both indoors and out back, this little place perhaps a 2/3 full at best. We asked if we could have a cup of coffee while we waited and were told "when I can get to you...we are very busy." It did not improve from there. When seated we discovered they were out of a "few things" including chorizo (which appears in a couple menu items), tots and biscuits. Only after asking did we learn there were some breakfast specials; most items came with mediocre "home baked" focaccia(?) bread. The coffee was neither fresh nor tasty (full of residue). In fairness, once served, the mains were tasty and came hot...after waiting close to an HOUR for our breakfast. No joke. Lastly, can't they tear out the awful weed patch in the back seating area and plant some simple flowers or herbs? It would improve the "rustic" ambiance considerably.

On a road trip, we were starving for good food. Pulled in here based on the amazing reviews. While the food was good, it was not amazing. I don't see the big deal with the pastrami sandwich. It was a smallish amount despite getting the big sandwich. The honey mustard sauce dominates the taste. The coffee was really good and the servers were really nice with the kids. It's a small and cozy place. So come if you are here but don't go out of your way.
