A family member from Michigan bragged about the great food and setting at Boone's so we decided to give it a try. First we thought there would be views of Long Lake. The Lake is a distance from the restaurant so it sits on a hill with a forest between the restaurant and Lake. Initial impression on walking inside was it was dark and the seating was more diner style definitely nothing fancy. It was Father's Day but we were dining later so it was not crowded. The two hostesses at the stand told us to just seat ourselves inside or outside. Since the inside was dark and to us not welcoming, we were glad to find a nice picnic table on their huge outdoor deck. It is mostly shaded by the forest around it. That made it very comfortable. Looking at the menu we were surprised at the prices for the meals. For example a Perch dinner which we found other places either under $20 or maybe more was $38. To us everything looked a overpriced. The meals came with bread (a loaf of bread fresh but not hot nor sliced) and salad then choice of starch. I opted for the "smaller portion" of the perch dinner and my husband had the whitefish. Boone's makes up for the price with VOLUME and flavor of the main dish. The serving of the small portion of Perch was still HUGE and the whitefish was also a large serving. The salads were nice and the baked potato was ok. My husband's was fresh but my potato had been overcooked or set too long. I opted to just eat it as it was Ok. Our recommendation is be prepared for higher prices but if you want volume you will be satisfied. We had a lot of warms up to take with us.

The menus has many different items to choose from, but this is the place to go for steak. They prepare it to your doneness request. Nice side salad, side veggies etc. Good service and food is delivered hot.

My husband and I ate here on our recent trip to TC. We came here on a Sunday and appreciated that they were open. Many places aren’t open on a Sunday or Monday. The service was impeccable. I truly wish I would have gotten our servers name. The cocktails were delivered in what felt like seconds. We had the stuffed mushrooms which were awesome. I also had the snow crab and the meat was so sweet. I couldn’t even eat the turf from my surf and turf. They were even accommodating to let me get a ribeye as part of my surf and turf. The server brought out their seasonings for the steak and I appreciated that he did that because I thought the meat was a little under seasoned. My husband got the prime rib. He said it was delicious. We had leftovers for days. Literally the food was good for three meals. The server recommended the cheesecake which we took back to the hotel. He couldn’t decide on the strawberries or cherries so he gave us both. It was such a nice touch and generous. Both toppings were more than we expected. You could tell the sauces were made in house. We will be back. Also, please don’t judge a book by its cover because the decor looks like a supper club.

Have eaten here at least a half dozen times and NEVER leave hungry. Had $50 Christmas gift card and wanted to use before virus goes back to phase 1. ( that's what she says) Actually love the room that the pandemic affords in restaurants, positive note. Wife 12oz prime rib, me 16 oz Ribeye, both AWESOME. $38+$34, 1 $8 Bloody Mary comes w a 4 oz beer. $78 plus tax and tip, OTD 1 C note. Was it worth it? For half price(lol) you bet it was. See you again Boones

One of us had prime rib and loved it. It was medium rare exactly as requested. The Parmesan crusted whitefish was delicious. No bones, just flaky, tasty fish. The waiter brought plenty of bread and butter and made sure our drinks were refilled.

My son and I enjoyed an amazing meal today at Boone’s. We chose to split a 12 oz. prime rib and ordered it with a lobster tail. This was a wise choice as their portions are very generous. Kitchen split our meat for us and we were able to avoid a sharing charge by adding an extra garden salad to the meal. Special touches made a real impression- from the delicious house made croutons for our salads to the warm from the oven, freshly baked bread. Carafes of tea and water were appreciated, as was the heated drawn butters for our lobster. Prime rib itself was perfect, soft and flavorful. Ample cold water lobster tail was of the highest quality as well and did not disappoint. Split a baked potato- again, perfect. Service was efficient and friendly. Wait time, while 40 minutes on a Monday night at 7 pm, was made bearable with an app that makes the process transparent. At any time you can see what your standing is in line; it also shows your party size and how long you have already waited. Great tool! Overall we were wowed and will definitely be back when in the area again.

It was suggested we go here if we wanted beef. And they were right! Went on a Monday night and they were serving prime rib (some places only serve it on the weekend). Ordered a cocktail as we were 'wined out' from tasting all day. Emilia was a lovely waitress and suggested we share a 12 oz prime rib dinner. The chef sliced it in the kitchen, separate plates, 1/2 a potato each. The portions were still huge! The special seasoning was delicious. I still took half of mine home.

Boone's Long Lake Inn is a family and friends’ favorite. We were able to dine inside and thoroughly enjoyed it. The fireplace added to the warm atmosphere! The staff was incredibly welcoming and the service was excellent. The owner went out of his way to greet guests in the well-spaced dining room. The facility was updated over the winter and looks great. My partner enjoyed a Manhattan as a start to the evening. He selected the seafood platter – plenty of seafood – baked potato and Caesar salad. Very pleased! I choose the house cab wine and ordered the lightly seasoned grilled chicken breast complimented by wild rice and mixed vegetables. It was flavorful and just the right amount. Save room for dessert! We split the Turtle Sundae - yum!! So glad to be able to go back to this wonderful place!

We chose Boone's based on their menu, looking for a fine dining restaurant. It felt more like a bar and grill than somewhere worth $60 per person... We ordered escargot, crab/filet mignon, and the full rack of ribs, hoping to splurge. Nothing met our expectations with the meal. The service was good though.

Very large restaurant that has been around for years and is kind of a local institution. An easy 10 minute drive from downtown Traverse City or 20 minutes from East Bay hotels. Dress is very casual even though they have upscale options on the menu. They don’t take reservations unless you have a large group. However, with two very large dining rooms, unless you are come here on a weekend during the summer, there should be no more than a minimal wait. Interior is done up in an up north lodge style but could use some updates. Chairs and tables seem dated. Not sure anything has been updated in the restaurant in the last 20 years. Entrees aren’t cheap but you do get two sides (one side can be a salad), plus bread, with each entree. If you don’t want to pay for steak, lobster, or prime rib, they have a bunch of cheaper options. Good kids menu that includes a fried perch option. All kids meals comes with applesauce and fries. Salad, bread, and appetizer we ordered were good. Biggest complaint were the entrees. I ordered the fried chicken dinner, which was over cooked and the chicken did not taste good. The only option for the fried chicken dinner was a six piece, dinner, which was much too big. My wife got the London Broil, which was different from a normal London Broil. It was not thinly cut and was drowning in its mushroom sauce. Did not look appetizing or taste good.

Outstanding!!!!!! I had the Escargot appetizer and the 12 oz Prime Rib & Perch. The Prime Rib was huge and done perfectly, the Perch soft, flaky and delicious. We had a party of 10 and they sat us almost immediately! Highly recommend the drive out to it, it’s worth it!

Service good after 70 min wait at 5 pm on a Sat nite. Dessert and shrimp cocktail good Prime rib doneness and flavor good but so tough you could not cut or chew . Not CAB or prime meat. Prime rib should cut with a butter knife. Sides ok, not special. Would never return

We opted to sit outside since there was a 40 minute wait for a table inside. Right when we sat down the waitress brought over menus and asked for our drink orders. All 3 of us ordered water. She brought those and then we waited 10-15 minutes and she never came back to take our order. We watched her take 2 other tables orders, but still didn’t come and take ours. She could’ve easily came right to our table after taking an order at the table near us. We even had our menus closed so that she knew we were ready to order.

I must admit I was kind of surprised there wasn't more of a crowd on the Saturday night of Memorial Day week-end. We chose to sit outside. Beautiful view. I ordered the prime rib medium, and I received it well done. The potato fries were burnt, and the mixed vegetables were bland, as well as cold. From the previous reviews, I was expecting the food to be top notch. It was not. Although, the service was excellent, I doubt I will return. The prices don't reflect the quality of food we received.

The food was great and so were the portions (which they better be for the price). The food was everything I expected from the people I had heard from. Amidst what's going on in the world and things being different now, the service was beyond incredible. Only thing that kept this from a 5-star rating happened before we walked in the door. We didn't bring our masks, as everything we heard was that staff at restaurants would have to wear them, but customers would not once everything opened back up. But we called and asked once we saw a lot of people walking in wearing them. We explained our situation and asked if they were required. They said yes for when we weren't seated at the table, but that they had plenty for customers to use if they didn't have any. Cool. Walked in and the second we opened the door the people at the host stand were rather rude about it, "saying we can't come in without masks." We explain to them that we just called and were told that they had masks for customer use at the host stand. They hesitated, like it wasn't a thing, then said, "Yeah, I guess." That was a pretty poor start to our experience. You'd figure the people answering the phone and the people at the host stand (which were not the same), would be on the same page for something like that. Despite that, everything after we were seated was a 10/10 and a perfect experience.
