Stopped in for a late afternoon lunch and the food was so fresh and delicious! Everything was beautifully prepared and the staff was very attentive and did a great job accommodating our table. The French onion soup is excellent!
My husband and I stopped in for dinner. We went early to avoid the crowds. Both entrees we had were prepared perfectly. I had the perch he had the walleye. I substituted the fries for rice pilaf. We had craft cocktails that were excellent. And...the cheese we shared was delicious. We will be going back.More
We enjoyed dinner on the outdoor deck with a party of 6 adults. We had to wait more than 40 mins for a table outside. They were not taking reservations that day. The view was worth the wait. The seating was limited due to covid...and the tables were well spaced apart.
One of the favorite menu choices was the White Pizza with arugla, goat cheese, figs, and balsamic reduction-not for everyone, but really good to us! The calamarie appetizier was a hit, the maple-glazed bacon sprouts were a little intense. Ribs and salmon got good comments.
The service was good. Our waitress was new, but very attentive.
A bench would be a nice addition just outside the restaurant door for those longer waits.More
Just so, so. We were excited to try this place, but slow and sloppy service was what we found. Average food, average portions, bigger prices are the standard fare here. So, just be ready to deal with this (Ocotber 2020). Nothing really stands out, just...average tavern fair and on the expensive side. Service was just average so not sure what is going on here as there were only four tables in use on our 2pm lunch visit on a Friday.More
When a restaurant is short handed it should be expected that the manager would help out the kitchen staff. Obviously whomever was the manager opted out or was unqualified to help the 1 cook. Poor service and food.
Well the wait staff was friendly and the Bells Two Hearted Ale was very good, but it was downhill from there. The calamari had breading almost a quarter inch thick as dod the Lake Perch. Note that the menu specifically described the perch as lightly...breaded. Well it wasn't. It was way too thick and as you might think, oily. When I mentioned the breading to the store manager on duty he said well that light breading thing is wrong-so they knew about it.
It is unlikely that I will go back there for a while.More
Despite traveling to Traverse City frequently, Labor Day weekend 2020 was our first visit to West End Tavern. The service and food were both excellent. I would highly recommend the parmesan crusted whitefish and lobster mac and cheese!
Despite Covid restrictions and a rainy holiday weekend night we were seated within 30 min. Beautiful restaurant and view. Due to the rain they were only seating indoors. Our waitress was great and the food was wonderful. The walleye sandwich and BBQ burger were great...as well as the cheese fondue with bread. We will add this place to our list of places to go again.More
