About
The McCrery Family welcomes you to Tosi’s Italian, a dining experience unlike any other. What our founder, Emil Tosi, started in 1939, continues today, eight decades later. A family tradition, so very important to Emil is evident throughout the Tosi’s culture from the backof-the house to the front-of-the-house. Each day we honor the legacy that Emil created by using his original recipes, techniques and traditions passed down to us by our peers and mentors, all who have served Emil’s credo. How fortunate we are to have worked with some of the best in the culinary industry, a team of people with a strong work ethic, a mindset of dedication and service, all focused on you, our Tosi’s dining friends.

Great service and food during the pandemic and desserts that were out of this world sums up our "anniversary dinner" delayed nearly 30 years. We found that the prices were reasonable (especially for the quality) and Tosi's is a classic restaurant. There are many dining choices in the area but so many of them now are overpriced burger, beer and party animal places (not our style) so Tosi's did not disappoint on any level. The rest of the story. I used to live there but moved to the other side of the lake. To surprise my wife for our anniversary I drove back for what I hoped would be a wonderful anniversary dinner at Tosi's. Unfortunately I had a brain phart and forgot about the time zone change. When we got there the kitchen was closed! The staff very nicely offered to fill us up with as many desserts as we could stand but our "anniversary dinner" was at the nearby Subway. This time I made sure to get there on time and we are glad we did. I read a prior comment about Tosi's maybe not being a place for a family dinner. I disagree and I believe Emil (if he was still around) would concur. In the Italian tradition families and family dining are very important and as long as kids are appropriately behaving I can't imagine an Italian restaurant that would not welcome them.

A group of six of us were at Tosi’s at the Chef’s Table a few days ago — and it was a memorable dinner !! We had a six-course dinner, accompanied by delicious wines to match each course. The Chef’s Table menu is not on the regular menu, but a creative display of the chef’s imagination and talent. We enjoyed a mixed salad with buffalo mozzarella, shrimp/rice, lamb-pasta, mahi-mahi, beef tenderloin, dessert (A creation of the owner’s wife)… everything was superb! With each course, either the owner of Tosi’s or the chef for that particular dish explained the ingredients and any special info regarding its creation. The service was outstanding and we lacked for nothing in its enjoyment !

Coworker and I went here on the final night of a work trip looking for something nice to end the trip on. We knew it would be more expensive but were looking forward to some good Italian. We however ran into some issues. Let me start by saying that the staff were great, absolutely no issues there. The problem is the kitchen. We went in looking to sample across the menu. We started with two apps: crostini and the tempura zucchini blossoms. The blossoms were dominated by the tempura fry and salt. We could not taste the delicate flavors of the blossoms. The tempura, which should be a lighter batter and fry, was heavy and transformed the blossoms into a mushy wet flavorless center. The crostini was insubstantial and needed more to bridge the whole olives and garlic to the toasted bread. As for the entrees, we tried to get two different types of dishes to compare: classic lasagna and the broiled walleye, a local dish to the Northern lake states. Yikes. Bland. Both of them. The lasagna just tasted like tomato sauce, and not a special one at that. The walleye was over cooked and lacked seasoning or flavor. It was served on a super hot plate that continued to cook the already over cooked fish as it sat on the plate. We got the asparagus soup with the entrees. Had I not been told what it was, and had to guess, it could have easily been mistaked as a simple split pea soup base. There were hints of asparagus, but just barely. As for cocktails, the Michigan Smash was in fact a bust. It lacked follow through on the written menu description of it ingredients. In fact, the most flavorful thing on the table by the end of the meal was the butter that came with the table bread. For $90 this was the worst we ate on our trip.

My husband and I ordered spaghetti with meatballs. The pasta had the texture of leftover cooked pasta, there was not enough sauce to cover the pasta and….the meatballs were dry, overcooked and NOT tender. The kids had tenderloin, which they devoured. Mashed potatoes and veggies served with the steak tasted good however were served at room temperature. Service was spot on!!

Been eating there since mid 90s. Was always the go-to for special occasions. Moved away in 2000 but traveled back and dined at least once a year knowing I could count on a great atmosphere, service, AND food. Restaurant is under new ownership and sad to say standards are not the same. Need to find a née “go-to”.

We have eaten here several times and have enjoyed the food. This time, however, we ordered take-out and were very disappointed by the tiny portions (for the price). The pizza was a good value and the bread was good, but we paid $8 for a side salad about 3” in diameter and 1” deep. We also ordered two pasta entrees, which were about $24 each, and the take-out containers were tiny and half full (and nothing special). We brought a guest on our trip, and we ended up having to apologize to them for the small meal. Thankfully, we had bought cupcakes at the fantastic bakery next door.

Over the years my wife and I have gone to Tosi's for some memerable meals. This week we went for our 47th anniversery dinner. We will not EVER go back. The food was uneatable and I've had better service at the Golden Corral. Really disappointing! The owners should be very concerned about the product the chief is serving.

There could have been more sauce on the seafood linguini. Clam chowder was excellent. The filet with crab - both were tasteless. The filet tasted like cardboard and was a little cold. vegetables were warm but nicely cooked.

We attended a 40th wedding anniversary party here with my relatives and we were not dissappointed. The food was excellent and the only downside is that we had to wait an hour for a table. Five stars goes to the owner of this restaurant though. Since we had to wait an hour for our table, he gave us complementary appetizers all around. In addition, due to the COVID pandemic, he was short staffed and we saw him working very deligently clearing tables and seating people in order to minimize wait times.

This place is a gem! They have the cutest outdoor seating area within the garden-the inside feels so warm and inviting. The service was great-from the hostess, our server and even who appeared to be the owner (he made his way to all the tables) thanking everyone for coming in and asking if there was anything needed. Food was excellent. We tried a few things on the menu and nothing disappointed! We will be back when we are up in St Joe’s and will definitely recommend to others!

I expected serious Italian food. Bolognese sauce is just marinara with meat, no milk. I ordered Chicken Marsala and it was cloyingly sweet and very few mushrooms. They have a very extensive wine list and we had a very nice Montepulciano for $48.

Sally did an excellent job this year. We are so happy to have our all girls get together dinner at Tosis’s. We all had different things, different appetizers and different entrées, but some of our favorites were the Malfatti…the seafood Arrabiata, the ribs were fall off the bone, the tornadoes were cooked perfect perfectly, the two girls eating the gnocchi…We had to tell to get a room because of the sounds they were making that they enjoyed it so much ha ha, …..thanks again Tosis for hosting our annual event. We are so happy that we didn’t get charged extra for our salad or our soup, and we got our bread. The great salted Rye and focaccia bread from bit of Swiss 👍🏻👍🏻and thank you for NOT charging us 3 to 4% for using a credit card thanks Tosi’s. See you next July.

We were really hoping for an amazing dinner but left the restaurant very disappointed. My husband's dinner was cold, we were not made aware of food specials, the minestrone soup was like eating pureed baby food. The restaurant decor and atmosphere was wonderful and beautiful. We will not recommend or go to this restaurant again.

Over 1 hr wait after being on their wait list. Service poor. After seated we ordered and an hr later they come and tell us they ran out of 2 items our table ordered. Bread never brought to table until we asked a 3rd time. When dinner came pasta a vegetables were cold for everyone. Food was nothing special for the price charged. Bill came and 2 items they ran out of were on bill. Had to have bill corrected. Very disappointing.
