This is a great little restaurant and well worth visiting if you are in the area. We were really pleased to find it and also by how good it was as it's fairly easy to miss The atmosphere is very welcoming and the host is really helpful and can speak some English (or Spanish) if you're French isn't that good.... In this rural area it is difficult to find a variation of restaurants that serve good food. We wanted to try somewhere new and we found Le Gourmand via TripAdvisor as it already had excellent reviews. We were not disappointed. The food was delicious and cooked perfectly. We tried the meat selection platter - be prepared its a big meal!... More

Very friendly host speaks good English, open on a Sunday lunch nice atmospheric incredible meat cooked on an open fire brings your meat to the table before cooking it , can't wait to try the menu de jour next time we're here

The restaurant is nicely decorated having been renovated on the old laiterie of the Beurre de Baignes site. The buffet starter is simple and efficient and the steaks cooked on the wood fire are excellent. The menu has a good choice but it never changes which is quite a disappointment if you visit regularly.

I live only a mile away from this restaurant and I have to discipline myself not to spend all of my lunchtimes in there! The Menu du Jour is 13 euros and is, simply, excellent value for money. A self-service buffet begins the meal with an excellent main course, a simple desert, wine and coffee. When I first moved close... More
