About
Across from the entrance to the Soo Locks the Lock View isn't just for tourists. Local people regard our whitefish as the best with our saying "the fish you eat today slept last night in whitefish bay". We prepare our whitefish and walleye many different ways: pan-fried, broiled, lemon-pepper, Cajun, deep-fried, Cajun deep fried, Cajun broiled, and lemon pepper broiled. We are more than family friendly and with two floors of seating; we can easily accommodate large groups! Open May- October!

This is as far as you can go before crossing the bridge into Canada. (At the writing of this review, the border was still closed).
This is a great, historical restaurant located near the Soo Locks. The wait was 25-30 minutes for a table, we we walked around the area until our table was ready.
Our server's name was Kyle and he was friendly.
We had the cheese curds, ribeye and walleye with salads. All the food was really good. I asked for the walleye to be seasoned with cajun seasoning. That was my fault. I shouldn't have asked for that. Don't do it. There was too much seasoning on the fish filet and I had trouble actually tasting the fish. I still ate the fish and everything else was really good.
I would go back and eat there.

Recommended by the Plaza Motel desk, we enjoyed great fresh perch and whitefish dinner at the Lockview. Tile floors, pine board interior provides a feeling of the UP and a focus on food. Our meals were notable, delicious and of substantial portions. The waitress was full of information; we asked lots of questions. Fine dining, it is not, good food it is.

We had the Whitefish dip, Whitefish chowder and whitefish basket and all were so good, especially the dip. It was served with water crackers which was perfect to not overshadow the dip. Loved it. Not fishy. Served with capers and crackers. The restaurant is only open mid May through Mid October so check before going. Mandy did a fantastic job.

My family ate here June 18th and 3 of us had the whitefish, original and Cajun fries were both super delicious! My daughter loved her burger and son loved the sirloin steak. I had a side salad with blue cheese dressing, I think they mix in dill.....so delicious! They were following the steps for COVID-19 by providing disposable menus and children cups, staff had on masks and were great. Definitely will try to get back here.

Great homemade Cinnamon Bun, excellent coffee, and Eggs cooked to perfection for a very fussy eater. Go in the morning, grab breakfast, and stroll right across the street to see a ship navigate through the Michigan's Soo Locks. The Boat watching is FREE for one and all.

My Father n Law exclaimed to our server that he's been coming for the whitefish for over 60 years.. Has Lockview been around for 60 years? Doesn't really matter, it's delicious; the staff outstanding! We stopped for both lunch and dinner this day in late August; we had the same server for both meals. She remembered us and even recalled most of our drink orders, there were 7 of us! Regardless of our stay in the Soo, we will always visit the Lockview.. it's the best in town!

Went there probably too close to closing time but, the staff was still friendly and the service was great. I had the Mushroom n Swiss Burger and Poutine fries. The burger was cooked to perfection and was huge 1/2 lb at least. The fries were a generous helping smother with gravy and cheese curds. Just the way poutine fries should be. Not a dry fry. Loved everything about the place; the staf, atmosphere price, and food.

This restaurant was highly recommended by the Sault St. Marie Lock boat tour. We went there later in the afternoon and after going through the first local restaurant we went to for whitefish, we end up here and so glad that we did! Though the place is old and could use some updating, it is clean. We sat on the first floor by the window and enjoyed eating our fish and chips and watching passersby. What a treat!

Wanted to try Clyde's Hamburgers, but they were closed for the season. Next we tried Antlers, but they were closed until 3pm for lack of staff. So, we thought let's try #1 on TA, but we decided we'd pass when we saw it was "Car Hop" only. So heading back into town we stopped at Lockview and it was a WINNER! Everything that the table had, White Fish Reuben, regular Reuben and the White Fish was very good. Our wait person was very friendly and personable, and our food was delivered promptly. I would not hesitate to return to try another great dish.

Picked this place based on previous reviews, and we were not disappointed. The food was excellent, and the service was great! My husband recommends the Port Hole with 2 eggs, and I recommend the Monte Christo sandwich. Both selections were outstanding, and prices at this establishment were well worth the food we got.

We ate here twice. The food was delicious and served in a timely manner. We each (there were 7 in our party) ate something different and all praised the food. In fact, we loved the selection so much we came back a few days later and ate here again, again eating something different. What I really appreciated was when the Hostess, a lovely young lady, got the ramps so my wife could enter the restaurant in her wheelchair and how she prepared the table for here convenience. I had a steak the first time and the Perch the second time. We will definitely eat here again when in the area on our travels. The waiters were prompt, efficient, professional. They made sure to accommodate my wife in the wheelchair. Price was about normal for meals. Can't complain about anything at this restaurant.

We got in late to our campground and ordered our from here for dinner and were not sorry we did! Their homemade whitefish chowder and fish tacos I couldn’t get enough of. Unless you have a giant stomach though, I would suggest splitting their cheeseburgers between two people as they are HUGE! We decided to try the poutine as well (French fries smothered in gravy and melted cheese), as it is a U.P./Canadian thing....they were ok (little kids really liked them), but they were not the adults favorite.

This place is in a time warp, but the food is very good. With every place else there is a staff shortage, so service is a little slow but it still worth it. The restaurant has a very nice nautical theme and has some cool antiques. And it's close to the Locks Tower. The Perch is really good as well as the Whitefish; it's all fresh, never frozen.

Lockview is aptly named situated right across the street from the locks. We dined here on a Tuesday night, and the food was very good. We began with a crab dip that actually had large chunks of crab. My wife had the whitefish dinner prepared broiled. The taste was excellent. I had the walleye dinner prepared Cajun style. The spices were great and did not overpower the taste of the fish. Our service was outstanding (thanks Matt). I recommend stopping here whenever you get the chance.

I am giving two circles as there were three of us, one meal was good, one fair, and one poor. We were seated quickly and service was average. My granddaughter had the crispy chicken with bacon and cheese sandwich, which she said was good. I had whitefish chowder which was flavorless and almost no fish. It was more like a thin gravy. My wife had the steak salad which was lousy. Lettuce was poor quality, steak was overdone and full of gristle. It was so tough it could barely be cut with a knife.
