What a fun place! We got there right when they opened at 7:30am (on a Thursday) and had our choice of tables. 15 minutes later, they were full (at appropriate COVID capacity) and folks were waiting outdoors. Interesting and lively decor and fun staff. Kept our coffee cups filled. The ‘newspaper’ that you receive has the menu inside. Tons of omelets, crepes and even some low carb items (thank you!). I had the smoked whitefish omelet and it’s a bit strong and salty. Has cheddar cheese in it and I think a different kind of cheese would be better. A side of bacon is very reasonably priced and it was nice and crispy. There are a few tables in the front room, some booths along the side and more tables in a back ‘room’ (I think it’s a temporary, plastic sided room).

This was a bright spot on my trip. The food was wonderful. I was in Saint Ignace for two days, and I ate here both days. I had the Lobster Eggs Benedict, the coconut French toast, and several Almond Joy lattes. I plan to eat here every time I come through the Upper Peninsula. I live three hours away and it is tempting to drive back up there just for breakfast. It’s that good. If you go on the weekend, I recommend getting there early. On the first day I got there a little bit after 11 AM, and everyone after me was turned away because the kitchen was so hot that the cook was not able to keep going. (It was an extremely hot day. It was 86° outside. They said it was 110° in their kitchen.) The next day, I got there around 10 AM, but as I was leaving, I heard them telling people that they were not taking any more names on the waiting list. There was a long wait with people standing outside and sitting on the benches. It is worth the wait, but don’t risk being one of the people who gets turned away. Plan to get there early and enjoy your meal. I sat inside the restaurant on my first visit and I sat on the back screened in porch area on my second visit. I liked the back room better because there was a breeze going through there but both seating areas were comfortable and full of eclectic decorations. Joe wanders through the restaurant and visits with everyone. He talked to me both times that I was there, and he is very friendly. He is clearly knowledgeable about the area and I heard him answering numerous questions from other travelers.

We were in St Ignace September 12, 2020, & this was about the only breakfast spot open. Jammed! If you aren't comfortable dining out during COVID, skip this spot. Great menu, great food. My one complaint was that the place was packed with people. Tables were not six-feet apart, to pay you had to stand right next to people dining as well as others looking at souvenirs and others trying to pay. I felt I was putting myself & others at risk I would go back once COVID is a distant memory because it seems like a place I would like.

We have been driving up from Cheboygan for years to enjoy a great meal however after driving there today (paid bridge fare both ways) when we arrived at 11:44 am (open until 1:00) waited in line and then told they closed early. There were many people eating and available tables. We try to support small businesses and have in the past enjoyed eating and visiting here. When you have posted hours, be open those hours!!!

We stopped for breakfast I know that I have to have a mask if I want to eat inside I wanted to eat outside. The waitress would not even let me tell her the number of people in our party she held her hand up and would not even talk to me outside without me having a mask on and then she offered me a mask made in China. Who wears masks made in China?? I walked away. I will not eat there. I highly recommend that you do not eat there. They are way above and beyond outrageous and the prices are very high

We had heard of Java Joe's and decided to try this restaurant. Had a great breakfast! It was a very busy place and we had to wait awhile for the food, but it was worth the wait!! The broccoli cheese omelet was out of this world! My.husband got a western omelet and the waitress asked of he wanted salsa and sour cream and it was wonderful! We will not hesitate to go back!! An added luxury was they servef it in a pot and a beautiful tea cup and saucer.

We saw the reviews for this place and thought we would try it out. We were somewhat disappointed. Waiting outside in 35° is not that pleasant although the owner brought coffee out which was a nice touch. We observed her being extremely rude to a waiting customer. In fact if it had been towards me I would have left. The place is small and crowded. Which was expected. Twice, we had the owner shouting over our table to a waitress. I mean like right on top of us. My corned beef hash omelet was good. My wife’s French toast was under cooked and soggy. Overall the place was just a little below average. I’m not sure how it gets such good reviews. She did mention it was the end of the season and she was losing her patience.

We had breakfast here. I'm not a fan of traditional restaurant breakfasts and Java Joe's had a number of appealing choices for non-egg-eaters including a parfait with homemade yogurt and granola, which was yummy. The typical bacon and eggs were good too. The decor is super cute, with lots of eccentric teapots. The owner chats with all the diners and gave us some great advice for our visit to Mackinac Island.

We had our evening meal here, 4 minutes by car from our hotel. We were offered and accepted a table by the window ,too many mosquitoes to sit on the patio. A decent number of meal and drinks options. Attentive waitress and our meal came without too long a wait, the restaurant was 75% full. The cost of our meal and alcoholic drinks was comparable with other dining experiences. The restaurant it's self was decorated with an obvoius Mexican theme.

Reading about Java Joe’s Cafe in the book 100 Things to Do in the Upper Peninsula Before You Die, we knew we had to stop for breakfast in St. Ignace, Michigan on our road trip. Such a fun place, that offered a lot for our eyes as well as our stomach. The shelves were lined with funny figurines to unusual coffee and teapots. The service was excellent, but with COVID expect a wait. This is a popular coffee shop. Food was delicious. We had an omelet and the cherry crepes. It was a bright stop on a misty day!

We ate breakfast there two mornings of our vacation. My son said they were the best pancakes he's ever eaten. They have unique items on the menu along with some great coffee treats. The decor is unique and enjoyable. Waitresses were very friendly and attentive. No complaints! We would go back again!

We arrived at 11am on a Wed in July . The friendly hostess sat us promptly & then went back to her hostess stand and looked at her phone until another customer had to be seated. The servers were hustling and were very busy. But neither one of them would acknowledge us with a smile or eye contact. We felt ignored waited almost 10 mins before one of them spoke to us. A quick greeting acknowledging us would have made us feel welcome. Also the hostess could have brought us water & coffee instead of looking at her phone. The food was served within a reasonable amount of time, but it was not hot and it tasted average like from Gordon Foods. When it was time to pay, we had to wait in a long line. There is one cashier to check out the to go orders & the in house diners. The décor is kitschy & cute, but I don't recommend eating there for breakfast.

We were seated right away when we arrived. Loved sitting outdoors. The weather was perfect. The drinks we ordered came right away but the food took a very long time. The waitress explained they were having problems with the grill. Coffee was replenished frequently. The owner came out to visit with everyone sitting outside. He is a very nice guy and really cared about the people coming to his place. The food was very good. We plan to return tomorrow before we leave town.

Awesome food, lovely service and great location. We stumbled upon this place to grab a quick bite and fell in love. Service: Joe and Sandy are fun, warm and welcoming. They do have a small kitchen - so make sure to budget enough time when you visit the place. Food: We ordered a bunch of omelets which were tasty and had sumptuous portions. The menu has something for everyone. Highly recommend for a hearty breakfast/brunch before you head to the Mackinac Island. Ambience: the place has a very nice, cozy ambience. The outdoor dining area is great for lete groups Overall - awesome experience. Great food.

This is a very small restaurant. Due to COVID 19, it was about a 20 minute wait to be seated. When seated the tables were very small and it took a bit for wait staff to get to us. They have one very small bathroom and it was a wait to use the bathroom. When we finally placed our order it took a while to get our food. The food was cold when it finally arrived! This place was highly recommended but was a bit of a disappointment!
