Our family has been eating Bessie's homemade pasties for 30 years! Not only are they the best I've ever eaten with the flakiest crust ever, but we always brought a cooler full of frozen pasties to eat throughout the winter. I was heartbroken to see...that the business was sold in early 2022. I thought there was supposed to be a sandwich shop, but there's currently nothing in the empty building.More

We tried our first pasties at this establishment and it did not disappoint. The crust is like a delicious savory pie crust and the chicken filling and gravy were yummy. We liked the cole slaw. It was a nice day and we were able to...eat at tables outside. We have had other pasties on our trips but so far Bessie’s are our favorite.More

Saw signs everywhere for pasties so knew we had to try them and Bessie's was close by. Beef is the original and there is chicken. There was actual chunks of chicken in the chicken one and not much beef in the beef. Lots of potatoes....Had it with the gravy and coleslaw. Think you need the gravy. Crust was very good. I liked them but my sister didn't. They are pretty good size. I have nothing to compare them to but thinking these are a good representation of a "pass tee". The gal at the counter was very friendly.More

The pastie was very poor. Barely any meat. All potatoes and the carrots were just shreds. We had pasties 4 different places in the UP and this was definitely the worst.

Delicious Pasties! We were hesitant since we’re picky about our pasties but this did not disappoint. So happy we stopped!

Nowhere near British/Cornish pasties or even from other colonial countries like New Zealand. There are way better pasties in the upper Peninsula with better price. I paid like $16 for a big pasty called (yupperman) but it is barely bigger than a regular from Roy's...Pasties and Bakery at Houghton which sells at < 1/2 price. Too much potato and little beef cubes. Ice cream is a better choice there.More

This was my first time having a pastor and it was delicious! Get it with the gravy. I had beef bc the chicken was sold out. I can’t compare this place to any other pastie place but I would definitely recommend it. Trip Advisor said...it was closed but when we drove by we noticed it was open so definitely call first.More

We liked the authentic pasties. We preferred the chicken over the beef. Debbie was super helpful. We took 3 pasties on the go and were given plates and plastic ware.

We ate here and they were the best pasties we had on our entire trip. We ordered to go and ended up sitting out on picnic table out front. Our kids loved them, and asked to go back! Would stop here again, and even order...frozen ones to bring home!More

The Pasties are Awesome. Do not let the appearance of the building scare you away. Or the Grumpy Guy that waited on us., Hope he was just having a Bad day, and is not like this always. Grin and bear it !! the Pastie is...worth it.More

These were the best pasties I’ve ever had! Don’t let the curb appeal fool you, the food is fantastic! I wish I could make crust like that.

When we go to the UP we like to get the famous pasties. This place definitely has the best ones and can definitely see they are homemade when your server comes out all covered in carrots.. They offer different kinds too which is nice. They...also come with gravy and coleslaw. If you get chicken pastie you get chicken gravy and if you get a beef one it comes with a beef gravy. The crust of the pastie is nice and flaky. The pasties are their main focus but they do offer different things if you are not in the mood for a pastie.More

We had to try the pie to see how it compares with the real Cornish Pastie from the UK. Chose Bessie's out of those open. Foul night so the restaurant was empty, which was a shame. Pies were good, we both enjoyed them, and not...so far from the 'originals' in taste and consistency.More
