Friday Night Family Dinner

This visit was close to perfect. Seated immediately and the server was there as we sat for our drink order. Order was taken quickly and correctly. French Onion Soup and Calimari are to die for. Kids menu was great (maybe a little too much food for the younger ones), with nice selections... read more

Their menu is so interesting, all based on a Belgian theme to go with the beer they make. We had a fantastic Royal Oak Restaurant Week dinner here in 2015, but 2-3 times now, we have been back & disappointed. Their food seems to fall short. Seasoning is lacking. If that were added to the dishes, it would bring them... More

This restaurant does specialize in beer, but you can get an acceptable class of wine and Fabulous mussels! The pommes fries are good and the specialized mayo a treat. Be prepared for some barely supervised children on a Sunday afternoon. Service was very good. The beer drinker in our party (who is a member of the restaurant's mug club) was... More

Hi Bookworm101- Thank you for reviewing Bastone and it sounds like you had a nice time. We apologize that your friend did not enjoy his beer, hopefully as a loyal Mug Club member he will come back again soon and try another one. Cheers! Liz More

the restaurant was dirty, we had to get a server after waiting 15 minutes, The food was mediocre and that is being generous. I have gone here several times in the past and it was outstanding in all respects. This is not the case now. It is just another trendy restaurant in Royal Oak with nothing to make it stand... More

Bev, would you be able to contact or General Manager, John Sleaman at 248.544.6250 or write him: bastone.gm@mission86.com. I just spoke with John and he is concerned. Bastone has very good reviews and we'd like to try and make this up to you, but we'd like to hear a little more about your complaint. We pride ourselves on running clean... More

I have been coming to Bastone's for years. I love the open feel of the restaurant that still feels warm and cozy despite the cold, windy Michigan winter outside. They brew championship beer here and have an assortment that could please anyone. The IPA is great and is my starter beer. Then i go to the Pilsner and enjoy the... More

I like Bastone a lot, just wish they didn't change my favorite pork belly dish, they made it so much worse that I will never order it again. Maybe they were able to save a few $$ Please reset your pork belly dish to how it was with the apple sauce and stoemp

Food was delicious, beer was good. Celebrated my sister's birthday and they let her choose any dessert off the menu. Great atmosphere too! Braised short rib sandwich was very tasty. Chicken and shrimp jams lay was perfectly seasoned! Try it, you'll enjoy it!

I had fairly low expectations but was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. I had the potato leek soup, burger and tots and it was quite good. Drink selection was awesome, of couse. Looking forward to my next visit! Great atmosphere and service too!

The place has a nice atmosphere filled with very friendly staff. We tried a couple of different beers they offered and both were quite good. We had their burgers and both left very satisfied. Certainly not the best burger in the world experience, but this isn't a cheap bland burger either. The fries were fantastic. It is worth the time... More
