A good BBQ makes the whole neighborhood smell good. We didn't even get a whiff when we got to the door. I got the St.Louis Ribs, they were edible, but lacked any smoky flavor. The sides were, again edible, but nothing to write home about....My friend ordered the brisket and sausage by the pound. He is from Austin, TX and knows his BBQ. He claimed the sausage was Italian sausage and the brisket was tasteless. BBQ is never cheap, but this wasn't even good.More

When we walked in the door you could smell a great aroma of bbq goodness. We started with the smoked bbq wings for an appetizer and they were very good. Juicy, meaty, generous portion and a nice delicious char on them. We then had the...3 meat combo of tri tips, brisket and 1/2 chicken. The flavor on the beef items was very good however the meat was a little on the dry side. We think that was because our main order sat under the heat lamp pickup area for awhile. Timing is everything and the server should have waited a little bit before putting our main meal order in with the kitchen. The chicken needed more smoking and seasoning. There was hardly any flavor but it was moist. It would have been nice if they would have cut the 1/2 chicken in pieces to put on the tray. The chicken wasn’t fall off the bone and a butter knife wasn’t going to cut through it. That made it a little more messy to handle and separate. hey had a very nice selection of different sauces and their original sauce was very good. The corn bread was simple but had a nice moist flavor to it. Server was very nice.More

The real deal and possibly the best chili I’ve ever had in a restaurant. Brisket, pulled pork, and chicken were all very flavorful. Plus, they gave hush puppies!!!

I'm new to the Detroit area, and was looking for decent bbq. This is decent. It wasn't inedible, but I knew it wasn't great when I tried the sauces on the table-not good. The service was great, and the beer awesome and cold. The sides...were excellent, but the ribs-meh. I've had a lot of bbq in large cities, and it can be done. Look else where.More

Came here on black Friday after walking around Royal Oak. Shared chips for the table, and respectively ordered: bbq mac Shepard's pie, salad, the rice beans bowl, and meat plate with sides. The bbq mac Sheppard pie was really good and the portion was huge....The brisket is mixed with bbq sauce and then topped with Mac cheese and baked. The bean rice bowl was very good and reminded me of a Chipotle burrito bowl with rice, jalapeno beans, pulled pork, corn, cabbage, and avocado. The salad looked good, and friend said that she enjoyed it. The meat platter was devoured by the other friend and he enjoyed the sides of sweet potato fries along with his smoked sausage and pork. You can buy their bbq rub for a reasonable price-- $5 for 8oz and $10 for 16oz.More

Got a BBQ feast to go - my wife was two days out of the hospital (knee replacement). Rather than leaving her home we brought the party to her. Everyone ordered what they wanted and we placed the order for 12 meals. Picked up the...meals on schedule and everything was ready including sauce as requested by each individual. The meals from Lockhart’s always exceed expectations and the party was a huge success. Lockhart’s has become a family favorite and is the most requested place to dine for family events.More

I stumbled on this venue as a result of area construction and parking issues. After reading the posted menu from outside, I ventured inside to seek a carry-out. The smells were sensational! Justin, my greeter/server, made me feel that I was a regular customer. I...informed him that this was my first time in the restaurant, and he graciously spent additional time helping me navigate the menu. He explained his favorites, the most requested items, and the the items that I might want to consider during my visit. The Gumbo was outstanding; the chicken wings were the best, and the ribs were well seasoned and falling off the bone! Meeting and having the opportunity to compliment Chef Rene was the highlight of my visit. I shall return!More

My husband and I went to see John Crist and this restaurant is right around the corner. We split the pick 3 meat meal. It was good. We got the brisket, 1/4 and pulled pork. We both really enjoyed everything. A little pricey. We got...one meal and one drink and added a corn muffin. It was $30. We would go back though!More

I recall that the beer prices were reasonable which made it tempting. I had to go to a meeting afterwards so I ordered ice tea. I will go back again for the beer and bbq.
