We went for dinner for grand daughters birthday. They love their steaks. The food was good. Server was good but very busy. They were very busy that night.

I’ve been taking family and friends when Paul’s was half the size. Always a great experience. Service, food always the best! See you soon!

We have eaten here three times over the past several months. The first was great but our last two visits service were awful. Our last visit we had to ask for a server, our menus, and finally to order dessert. For the price the service...needs massive improvement. The food is goodMore

We had the pleasure of dining at Mr. Paul’s Chop House yesterday, late afternoon. The three of us ordered the fabulous prime rib. Outstanding. To make it even more memorable, we had a server who was exceptional. My husband and I drove 35 miles each...way to Mr. Paul’s for this wonderful dinner and we will be back soon to enjoy it again. Five stars.More

One of the best restaurants still after many years. Just a nice, classy place with a really good wait staff. We loved everything we tried except for the mushrooms. This is our go to restaurant when we want to have a really nice dining experience....Caeser salad is great, you pay for it, but it is worth it. Love the surf and turf. Oyster and other seafood appetizers are all good too.More

Son had dined here often. Wanted a nice restaurant for a nice dinner out to begin a surprise anniversary celebration. Restaurant has elegant interior that has changed little over the years. However food was excellent. Caesar Salad is prepared tableside. This is a steakhouse and...the steak was tender and juicy. Whole meal was exellent and the atmosphere perfect for springing a surprise trip to New York and Broadway shows upon my wife.More

From the moment you walk through the door you are in food nirvana. I started with a perfectly made martini (up) while we waited a brief moment or two for our table. We were greeted warmly by Chris and his brothers who own the place...and when seated Linda was there to insure that we would have the best experience ever. She succeeded. Everything was perfectly prepared, plated and delivered to our table piping hot but not before Chris did a Caesar table side for us. It was perfect. Can’t wait to go back!More

Can always expect a top notch meal with professional "old" world wait staff who pay attention to you as if you were their best customer. Porterhouse steaks and Duck are my two favorites. Prime rib is also fantastic. The place has been family owned and...run to the same exacting standards I recall as a child. My dad was a tool & die man and entertained there a lot and we were often taken along. Table side creations are fun to watch. Cesar Salad always a great choice. Oysters always fresh. I can't find a thing to complain about this restaurant about. Thanks to Paul and his family you will have a meal to remember. Mr. Paul's is not for the faint of wallet, but if you are going to get out the platinum card, this is the place to do it!~ Worth it and then some. I am so tired of feeling "cheated" by subpar meals at high prices... I have never felt this way leaving Mr. Pauls.More

Think about the old, manly steak houses of decades past - dark wood, red velvet...the kind of place where you might see Jimmy Hoffa - and you will have a sense of the vibe. It's the perfect place to enjoy whisky - an old fashioned...seemed to fit the ambiance, and the choice was a good one. Steak was very good, if a bit oversalted. Frog legs were a disaster. Our server, Sue, was a gem.More

Over salted and overrated. Seafood had so much salt that it was almost inedible. Steaks were good but not outstanding. Salads were fresh but small. Service was the standout. It was first rate. Atmosphere was harsh. Dark and the spotlights were annoying.

Not only the food but the atmosphere too. The surf and turf is great. Nice size lobster tail. The fresh oysters were great. The rolls and salad were good. Only which butter was softer or maybe make up a flavored butter. The shrimp appetizer was...good. Liked their zip sauce too. Only complaint was the mushrooms. Need to give them some flavor like maybe some Balsamic Vinegar or garlic. Wasn't impressed with these at all. The service is great but no reservations and if you want to eat early they open at 5 pm but were already full when we got there at that time so you might want to come between 4-5 to get a early seating. Got to try the Table side Caeser too!More

Mr. Paul's is a Detroit institution. Their forte is steaks, although there are other items in the menu equally good. Here's the deal. In all the times I've been there, not once have I had a bad steak - overcooked or undercooked. I can't say...that about many other steak joints. Definitely make reservations. It's crowded - always. You can wait at the bar, but that, too, is almost always packed. The decor is a little tired, but nothing that's distracting. If you want a little show, order the Caesar salad, prepared table side. It's one of the few restaurant that do it, and it's not only something to watch, but the salad itself is very good. Steaks are the order of the day. No matter which one you choose, they are some of the best around. The New York strip is thick and not dry. The small and large filets are a great choice. The gentleman at the table next to us had the Porterhouse. It was the size of Cleveland. He was a big guy and couldn't finish it. Meals come with a choice of sides and are included in the price. This is a departure from so many steak houses that make side dishes optional, and they are usually huge portions and dramatically overpriced. The waitstaff is friendly but not overbearing. They're efficient and yet respect that you are not there to carry on a conversation with them. Most have been there for some time, so they are experienced and very knowledgable. Go.More

The food and service is amazing. Every single time we go (which is often) everything is spot on. The cream puff is the best dessert they have. Get the table side salad. It's awesome.

My boyfriend and family members dined here on New Year's eve and couldn't believe how superb the food was. The selections included white fish, shrimp and filets. We have traveled to the west side to Morton's, Chris Ruth's and other fine dining places and they...did not compare to the quality of Mr. Paul's. This was our first time here, but plan on being regulars from now on. DONT'T MISS THIS PLACE!!More
