Nice atmosphere, the beer is good and the service is quality. With the new restrictions in the world today a little patience goes along way for all restaurants. Enjoy the trip to a Rochestor, MI classic, we sure do!
We have been here in the past, and it was not as bad as our last visit. After being seating, waiting almost 20 minutes for our server, I had to get up as and someone to come take our order! Trust me when I say...I wanted to walk out, but my family didn't and they told me "they are always slow here". I found that unacceptable since it was a Monday night, I witnessed six servers basically walking around doing nothing, and only 10 total tables with mostly all couples eating. I will not be returning here until they can pull it togetherMore
Have come to Rochester Mills quite often and have always received good food, service and experience. During this pandemic, they have been trying to take as many precautions as possible which I appreciate (spaced out tables, masks, no common touch points, etc).
Food is pretty...good, not amazing. Average bar/pub food with something for everyone along with unique touches such as shepherds pie (which is huge) and fish tacos. Ordered the fish tacos once - build your own with fresh fish and good toppings.
Service has always been friendly and attentive and sometimes personable as well. Great selection of good beers that are constantly changing. Music on some nights as well is a nice touch. Overall, a reliable, good place to eat or meet up with some people.More
I ordered the salad with cherries, blue cheese, and walnuts. The toppings were so scarce, it looked like a pile of lettuce. That's what it was. I've ordered a lot of these salads at different restaurants and never had an experience like this. There was...hardly any toppings. Maybe a couple of teaspoons. I would of said something, but it was my daughter's birthday and I didn't want to spoil it. I paid $12.95 for a bowl of lettuce. Congratulations. You must of made a lot of money on me, but I won't be back.More
We weren´t able to try any beers because the waitress couldnt understand our id's because ther were in spanish. So my 37 year old wife, my 60+ father in law and I weren't allowed to have a beer, because the waitress and the manager only...accepted english written id's. If they expect not to serve tourists, then just say it from the start.More
Our party of four stopped in for lunch and a drink this afternoon, We stood awhile before hostess asked our party size and said to follow her (hardly a greeting). Once seated waitress brought out four waters and said she would be right back to...take our drink orders. Restaraunt was understaffed and it was 4-5 minutes before she got back, which is understanable.
Upon returning to take our drink orders waitress was not very knowledgeaable pertaining the beers made on sight. Once ww made our drink orders is was approaching 15 minutes and our drinks had not arrived (not acceptable). When the drinks got to the table waitress promptly and accidentally spilled the whole glass of red mine on me soaking my shirt, jeans and coat. She was remorseful and offered napkins to dry off. Accidents happen and I was ok to accept her apology. Problem was that her demeanor changed after the spill and she was avoiding us until she came over and stated she had talked to manager and they would take the wine off the bill. I said maybe take off my beer too since it had red wine in it and I was the one sitting soaking wet smelling like a wine cellar.
My biggest problen with this establishment is the lack of personality regarding the employees. After dinner we left and on the way out there were three employees standing at the hostess stand and not a word to us. We normally leave 20%-25% tip, however we thought 15% covered our experience since food was just ok.....average at best.More
Visited Rochester Mills Beer last night. I want to first say our server Allison was terrific and worked to overcome an absolutely terrible seating/reservation experience. First we made a reservation days in advance on to be called two days before our dinner that they would...not be taking reservations and the entire restaurant would be first come first served. So we chose to arrive before the dinner rush expecting to have an easy time being seated. We were told 45 minutes wait with empty tables all over the restaurant. When we checked back in a half hour later were told the open tables were reserved for dinner, interesting, as we were told no reservations. In addition this was 5 o’clock and they were reserved at 7. After debating whether we stay or go. Checked back in at an hour and 15 minutes. Once again were told the open tables were for reservations while they continues to seat people. After indicating our reservation was cancelled they looked at me dumbfounded. Needless to say we did eat there. The experience was awful with the one bright spot that was Allison. I don’t know Allison but she deserves a raise because if this is the way this restaurant is run, she is overcoming issues up front every night.More
My family was coming into town to see our new house and we made a reservation last Wednesday to be able to eat at Rochester Mills on Christmas Eve Eve. Sadly on Saturday, the restaurant called and cancelled our reservation, no reason given. We decided...to go on Monday anyways in order to still bring our out of town family. We show up at 4:45 and put our name in for 7 people and they said wait time was 45 minutes to an hour; seemed pretty reasonable. We decide to grab a beer and play some pool while we wait. As we play, tables all around the restaurant remained open. Finally the 45 minute mark approached and I asked about our seating and she said we were still waiting. Then the hour mark approached and she said we were still waiting; yet, tables remained open and other groups of our size were being sat. The hour and thirty minute mark finally hit and we were quite confused on the lack of effort to seat our party. When talking to the host about the over estimated wait and all the empty tables she claimed those were for reservations, but yet our reservation was cancelled by the restaurant two days ago? At this point we were very upset for the lack of service Rochester Mills was offering a party that had now been waiting for 90 minutes, with multiple tables that had been “waiting for a reservation” to show the entire time.
After a manager heard of the situation, we were seated and our waitress, Allison, actually redeemed the night. But if it was left to just the hostess staff then I can’t believe anyone would actually go to Rochester Mills. Even when they see a disgruntled party, they continue to shove them aside and not try to calm the situation. I understand the nights before the holidays is busy for everyone but it was apparent last night that Rochester Mills is not equipped with the staff to satisfy its many patrons.More
