We stopped here for breakfast on a recent trip. It was located right on US 23 on a lake. There isn't much of a lake view from the dining room, but they did have an outdoor patio which would have offered a better view. The restaurant sits next to the motel cabins and there was an ice cream parlor in the next room. We had the stuffed french toast, which was really good and the chicken and waffles. The waffle was cooked perfectly. The service was friendly enough, just a little slow to refill the coffee or check on us. Overall good experience.

New owners Wayne & Karen have remodeled ALL of the cottages on this private lake front property. I enjoyed fishing off their docks! My friend & I rented the spacious "Flip Flop" cabin with 2 Queens (+ roller way), mini-fridge and microwave. May is off season, so prices were very affordable. Had breakfast at the conveniently adjoined restaurant. Food was fast, delicious and affordable! PERFECT venue for a wedding or family reunion! NOTE: Restaurant only open for breakfast & lunch weekends due to staffing shortage. Masks not required but outdoor seating is available.

Last minute stop at The Parker house for a quick overnight stay in one of their cottages. Very clean and comfortable - a beautiful spot right on the Lake! We also enjoyed a hearty, home-cooked breakfast at their restaurant! The Western Omelet and Sunflower toast were delicious and the service was top-notch! Highly recommend!!

Don't waste your time. Half hour wait (no big deal) but took us an hour to get our food and the food is canned/frozen. Ordered a breakfast burrito with no egg (because I can't eat them). Came out wrong the first time. Then just got a burrito full of hashbrowns and very little sausage, cheese, and onions. Will not recommend this place to anyone!

Food and service was good. They have outdoor seating. Too cold to use. Even though we didn’t stay there, we are planning a family reunion next year. The cabins look great on the outside. We will give them a try

None of the staff wears a mask. We were told ‘He doesn’t want us to’. Alpena has the highest number of covid cases and deaths in northern Michigan

I was here about 30 years ago with a friend. My mom was having her hair done just down the road so I thought I would take my wife for her first time there for lunch. We were greeted by someone that appeared to be cleaning tables and were seated. She took our drink order and really never came back. I don’t think someone cleaning tables should be serving food. The red hat ladies were there having lunch/meeting. 17 of them. Typically when I have attended these lunch meetings you have a choice of two items, but not 17 individual lunches in a place this small. The waitress was handling food constantly with her hands and the cook was not wearing gloves. There was constant cross contamination with food items. After waiting over 45 minutes we were told that five more of the red hats had to be served and then they would start our order. We got up and left. They are clearly putting some money into the place, but there is a serious lack of customer service, procedures and cleanliness. If you want better service, bar options and more selection go three minutes south to the Hideaway. I probably won’t be going back for another 30 years.

This is one of those places a tourist would drive past leaving the locals to enjoy themselves and smile. The wait can be long with a small kitchen but the meals are frightfully large. A great breakfast and homemade bread toaste. You can drive your boat or car. I hope they keep the cooks and note the cool new decor! A go to place!

I truly want Parker House to succeed - the local community needs good restaurants. Parker House started out strong when new ownership took over. However, slow service and poorly cooked food has become the norm in recent months. The “poached” eggs received on May 19 was the triggering factor in my wanting to send a message to the new ownership to right the ship. This food should never have been served to a customer

The outside of the building has nothing to do the great experience that awaits you inside. With a homey atmosphere, this adds to the great meal you are about to eat. I had the Palmer House special which included thick bacon, great sausage and tender ham. Home made bread is included. The service was fantastic, and the meal was well worth the trip. I am glad I found out about this hidden gem located just across the county line.

Though it has food for all meals, now including amazing dinner on select days, their breakfasts are fantastic. They have a wide variety for children and adults alike. Excellent toast. Family atmosphere.

Made a reservation with open table! Never checked us in! 2 waiters for more than 30 diners! One busboy! Food was tepid... they comped us one but very poor experience! I felt sorry for our poor waiter! It certainly wasn’t his fault! How could you charge those prices for that very poor experience?

Oh man!!!!!! Awesome breakfast and lunches here - portions are so huge you MUST share or take home leftovers (which is even better!) Owner/cook comes out to make sure everything is fine, wonderful retro atmosphere and hugely great value here. We will keep coming back and so will our kids who live in this area. A super little place with really great servers (local kids, well trained and very personable). Can't say enough about it - it's amazing, fun, delicious and more!

so non. sort of mid century modern breeze block fronted roadside building with strong orange mid century modern signage…decor fest ends there. enter and you're immediately facing the mens room. not so elegant. the dining room is small and suffers from trying too hard to be design cool when it isn't, but, just forget about that and order your meal. there were three of us and when the food arrived, well, we were SHOCKED! portions were enormous and they were delicious!!! over the top killer belgian waffle with fresh strawberries and whipped cream. 12 grain out of this world wonderful pancake loaded with nuts and seeds, great enormous delicious oatmeal and greek feta, onion and spinach omelette which was outstanding and enough hash browns for three. this is a place you go to eat some seriously good food and not wallow in high design or decor. it's about food. prices are great, cooks and waitstaff perfectly smiley sincerely friendly. without doubt, the best breakfast in the area and i must return to kind of joint. the photo does not do their food justice. enjoy!

Eggs were fine, hash browns generous, coffee hot. What’s not to like? The waffles, that’s what. They had an awful sour aftertaste and were inedible. Beware. The hash comes out of a can, but it seems to have a following anyway.
