Shocked by negative reviews...

I am completely shocked by the negative reviews and low ratings. My son and daughter-in-law come in from Chicago where they have their choice of wonderful restaurants, and this is their favorite breakfast place while visiting Portage. The food has always been wonderful and the waitstaff prompt and personable. Serving sizes are generous and substitutions are never an issue. The food comes out in a reasonable time, meaning if they are busy it will take another few minutes, which is reasonable. I highly recommend them for breakfast or lunch. Don't be afraid to give them a try yourself before believing any of the negative reviews.

Definitely the place to go

Loved this place our service was amazing Brianna was awesome waitress our coffee was always full .The inside is very colorful . Food was very good I got raspberry cream cheese French toast and my husband got a skillet the skillet meal was so big we ended taking some home the French toast was amazing too the price was reasonable for our breakfast it was around 30 .

Our Favorite Place

We have visited the West Main location several times. The menu has many great choices you will not find elsewhere. My favorite remains the Surf and Turf Benedict. We love the great food and prompt, friendly service. The awesome mint hot chocolate was a nice change from our usual coffee. This became a favorite place after one visit. We plan to return often.

I Should Have Listened to The Reviews. Shame on Me.

After reading the reviews, I thought, "how bad can it be?". Trust me, it is that bad and worse. Slow, rude service. It took almost 40 minutes for a meal that normally takes 15 to 20 at another restaurant. When we finally got our food, my Mom's was cold and mine was horribly put together and wrong. The fruit was almost inedible it was sliced so big. My eggs were practically raw. The rest of it wasn't much better. My mom got sick three times after she got home. I had to ask for coffee refills and chase them down to pay. Silly us for asking for a box. It was the first and last time. I will get them credit for one thing. They did not charge me for my meal, but miraculously made me new eggs in less than 5 minutes. Why did it take 40 then? Trust the reviews. They are accurate.

Waited 30 minutes for our food. When I asked the hostess to check on its progress, she checked and told me it had only been 25 minutes. My toast was not toasted, very little butter. Hash brown portion was skimpy and cold. Omelet was small, very skimoy on the cheese and sour cream, had to ask for the salsa that was supposed to come with it. Very expensive: 7.99 for 2 pancakes. 3.99 for a cup of coffee. Live and learn. Do not recommend and will never be back.

Good after church brunch spot

We had good food and a good time as a family eating brunch after church. One of the best brunch places we have found in Portage.

Pumpkin pancake special was awesome! The sauce and candied walnuts - yum! Liz was fantastic and took great care of us. Ask her to tell a joke!

Family brunch after church

We went out for breakfast after church, and it was fantastic! The portion sizes were very generous, and I loved my Oreo iced coffee. We will serve back.

Worst Brunch Experience EVER!

One of the WORST dining experiences ever. Long wait (expected that), never texted me that our table for 5 was ready- which they said they did- when we went in- they said that we could get in line Again! Now one 1 ½ hours later - after I said thst we had been editing- they reluctantly sat us down at at a tiny in the Horner table for 4. We asked if we could sit at a table for 6 and they thought that we were being rude! I said that there was not enough room for ourselves and our food on the table. Reluctantly they moved us to another table for 4 - but with a longer booth area. The staff never smiled, or checked on us. It took 10 minutes to get the menus. I understand that they were busy- but our service was terrible. And the Hostess was rude and as I accommodating as possible and said that we weee rude within our hearing. She said to us that she was trying to seat as many people as possible. So, we ordered simple breakfasts. I had wanted the Ricotta pancakes- but they did do not have any of their specials… The scrambled eggs were cold, the hash browns were poorly cooked and greasy- and also cold, the pancakes were plain - only one thing of butter and no I’ve ever asked if everything was Ok- or if we needed anything else. The bacon was greasy. I ordered coffee and had a very hard time getting a refill. No one ever smiled. When the bill came- the waiter had changed my daughter $10.00 for a full order of pancakes- that my Grandson had wanted a side instead of toast! So the bill for 5 people was over $100.00. I understand the issues with staffing and the post. - COVID restaurant issues. This was nothing like that. This was simply a surly hostess, an incompetent person taking my name and number, a waiter who should have slept in, and poorly cooked simple and tasteless food and staff. We were there on a holiday- and clearly looking for a nice meal. We were polite and respected the environment. I would eat at just about anywhere else before o would ever eat here again. I suggest you go to Another restaurant for brunch- I’m sure you can find one- Bob Evans is close, Berries is close. Even Denny’s serves a good pancake and eggs and bacon meal - No one should be treated like we were anywhere in a public situation. It was humiliating and frankly tasteless food- and a tasteless serving crew. Worst Hostess ever.

Poor front end/hostess service, management seating policy

I would like to give this nice restaurant more stars but we were treated poorly at the hostess station which left us and other customers baffled by the restaurant policy about seating people. We arrived with a party of four, followed by another party of four. We could see two empty tables for two right next to each other. Plus an empty table for six. The hostess told us we would have a twenty minute wait for a table. We asked if they could put the two tables for two together so that we could be seated without a wait. She said “No, we’re not allowed to do that”. Huh? The other group of four said they would be happy to split up and sit two by two at the two empty tables for two. The hostess also refused to let them do that. Huh? She also would not let four sit at the table for six. In the meantime other customers arrived and left seeing that we were having to wait. So, rather than easily accommodate the two groups of four waiting with the three available empty tables, management chose to let eight paying customers wait twenty minutes to be seated and let other paying customers walk away. Once we were seated we had a nice breakfast but the whole experience was tainted by the unorthodox policy of letting empty tables sit empty rather than exhibit some flexibility and seat us.

I had to take my food to go because it took so long for it to arrive. I ate it in the car which took the fun out of breakfast with friends. The meal itself was okay. My pancake was chewy but perhaps it was because it had been sitting in the to-go container. Don’t go to Tiffiny’s if you are on a schedule.
