We visited Freighters for a few drinks and dinner before going to a theatre for a play. The location is great: right on the river and close to the bridge. We were there in the winter and a part of the restaurant has a view of the river which was great. The staff were friendly and helpful when asked about... More

We sat at the bar to eat. It took the waitress at least 45 min. before she took our order. She was busy I understand that (but not that busy); however, took other peoples orders that had arrived after us before ours. When the second bartender arrived, she took our order. The couple that ordered two seconds before we did... More

Went to Freighters in the Double Tree. My Husband and myself were looking for a nice place to eat with a view. Well Freighters is the place! My husband got the Southwest Grilled Chicken Carbonara, fresh vegies in the dish, chicken tender and the sauce was great. I got the Galley Perch, this was an excellent dish; the perch was... More

This restaurant is mediocre at best and definitely over priced. The hostesses, had to physically walk away (after several even failed to acknowledge the line) to see if there was a table available, in an almost empty restaurant. They didn't seem to have any seating chart system at the counter so would walk all the way to the back, come... More

Checked out the restaurants as we were staying in the doubletree . Went just after 6 on a Saturday night . Were seated right away . The decor or ambiance is a little cafeteria / lower end . Lovely fireplace though and the view of the river and bridge is pretty . Went with the servers recommendations . Started with... More

This restaurant is located in the Doubletree hotel, but gets plenty of outside business as well. Wide variety of local beers, as well as some local liquors. Great Lakes fish. Local beef. Friendly and knowledgeable servers. Fair prices. It's a win all the way around. If my mother had cooked green beans like these folks, I might have become a... More

Our first time dining at Freighters during the Shipshewana On The Road show. The service was timely, friendly and pleasant. Food was tasty and presentation was good. Atmosphere was warm and inviting.

I'll get to the view soon. The food at Freighters is quite good, not a wide menu, but all done very well. Now the view, It is spectacular! You have the St. Clair River in from of you, to your left is one of the largest fresh water lakes in the world in Lake Huron and above you have the... More
