We are from Asheville, which is a foodie town for sure. Kate's is totally comparable to some of the fine dining in Asheville. Everything is incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, tasty. Just an amazing little cafe that prides itself on great attention to detail. Kate is friendly and watching over the business making sure everything is perfect. We had 3 breakfasts there when we were in town. We just kept going back for yet another fabulous meal. The quiche was so amazing. The crust was unusual, and the inside was creamy and delicious. Coffee is top notch. The fruit is so fresh the last morning I had to add a side of fruit. The little side salad included with some breakfasts was crisp and fresh with wonderful dressing. You have to go to Kate's!!!!

I was here for breakfast today. Kates was busy from my arrival at 10:05am right until I left around 11:15am. Staff was friendly but seemed really stretched. Food was good as always. I had a cup of oatmeal and a morning breakfast wrap. They brought all the food to me at one time which was unfortunate. By the time I got to the oatmeal it was nearly cold. The latte I ordered was excellent.
Most businesses are having staffing issues during these unusual times so I do understand the challenges. I will definitely be back!!

This is an amazing place to go! We went there for my mom’s wedding shower, we had tons of fun in this cute and comfy diner with family.

Delicious coffee, delicious breakfast and lunch! Love coming here with my daughters as a special treat. Cute atmosphere too! They try to cater to everyone and their food specifics.

Offered gluten-free options but is not Celiac friendly when you toast the gluten free bread in a common toaster…need a dedicated toasted for gluten-free baked goods. Service was ok but not fabulous.

My husband and I are visiting Port Huron for my cousin’s wedding. Kate’s was a cool coffee shop cafe downtown. Really enjoyed the Border Town Sandwich and Fall Ball Latte. Kate and the staff helped us discover local attractions. The atmosphere is really cool and aesthetically pleasing as well!

In the food desert that is Port Huron, Michigan, Kate's is like a shining star of good food. Fresh greens, homemade soups and sandwiches and decent coffee and tea.
The atmosphere is a sunny downtown vibe - very open and welcoming. This is a great spot for a quick lunch and the kitchen is very accommodating about special orders.

Kate's Downtown is located on Port Huron's historic main street just north of Black River. The interior is charming, and the food and service were very good. You can get a late breakfast or a lunch there, also a variety of coffee drinks; the menu is written on a large expanse of wall inside. Portions are large; both times we ate lunch there we split a sandwich plate, and felt pretty full. Ample free parking on the street.

We ate lunch at Kates's while we were on a long road-trip. Kates's is comfortable and nicely decorated. The server was busy because she was serving multiple tables, but she was friendly and helpful. The food was promptly served and was good. The price was reasonable. If one is in Port Huron, Kates's is an excellent dining option.

I only stopped in for an iced coffee. Service seemed fine, and my order was made in a reasonable time. The seating is somewhat cramped, given it is a fairly small storefront. I sat on a small sofa with a view of the street.
Next time I plan on trying food from the menu.
I wish they had outdoor seating.
They are only open for breakfast and lunch most days, so keep that in mind.

Reading the TA reviews; we came to realize there are multiple locations for Kate's.
Our experience with Kate's came about at the Maritime Center. Enjoying the information, helpful volunteers and wonderful views of the St. Clair river and all it's activity; we decided to stay awhile longer and have an afternoon snack.
The staff in the small cafe area were friendly and attentive; and the Huron sandwich (chicken salad on cranberry-walnut bread) was quite tasty, and amply portioned.
They also made a very decent Arnold Palmer (ice tea and lemonade).
Since our receipt said Kate's Downtown; we thought that was the name of the eatery in the Center.
Apparently we now have another location to check out, on our next visit to the area (though it's difficult to imagine the views would be as good).

I love this place. The staff is very friendly and the food is great. Sandwiches for lunch and the desserts are to die for. Each sandwich has an interesting name and some are veggie. I particularly like the “Grown Up Grilled Cheese”. The coffee is very good,the atmosphere is nice and they now have other locations in town!

Needed a breakfast bite before hitting the road and we found Kate’s. Wonderful quiche (garlic and cheese) and the breakfast wrap. We bought a couple breakfast bars for the road and found them delicious too. Friendly folks!
