City Park Grill, one of Petoskey’s oldest buildings, was originally constructed in 1875. McCarty Hall, as it was then known was a malesonly billiard parlor that offered cigars and “intoxicating beverages.” Today, City Park Grill maintains a loyal clientele with house-made cuisine, focusing on locally procured produce, meats and lake fish, an awardwinning wine collection and house-made biscuits straight from the oven

I've eaten at the City Park Grill several times and each time it seems less special. The menu seems to get a little more dumbed down each time and the prices go up. Service was good although persistent with attempting to upsell with every opportunity....Ask to sit on the bar side, the other side is just a dark room.More
Went for a late lunch. Absolutely no atmosphere. No music playing. Bartender not paying attention to customers, busy chit chatting. Food was just average. Manager waltzing around. French fries were undercooked to mush texture. Had a burger that was just average. No one welcomes you....No one thanks you. I realize there are many new people but if these people are considered trained, they need a new trainer. Food is much better at Southwoods, Applebees or Bob Evans. We will move on.More
Excellent dinners at City Park Grill. We arrived just before the 6:00 PM reservation crowd. Thoroughly enjoyed dinners of the peppered oysters and salad. The wedge salad with blue cheese was terrific, too. Waitress was friendly assuring we had a fun and delicious dinner.
This was a hangout of Ernest Hemingway back in the day. His seat at the bar is noted. The food here is wonderful. We had house salad (best house salad I’ve had in a long time, with blue cheese, cranberries and walnuts), 5 cheese penne...with sausage, and salmon with roasted broccoli & corn along with truffled mashed potatoes. Everything was delicious. We don’t normally order dessert but couldn’t resist the carrot cake tower drizzled with caramel sauce & showered with chopped walnuts. To die for! Service was friendly and quick. Atmosphere is very inviting.More
One of our go to places when we visit the area.
I had fish and chips (perch). My wife ordered a whitefish sandwich and then deconstructed it and ate it with a fork. (It was 6" tall) We had a bottle of local white. Have...to have the local wines when in northern Michigan. Everything was great as well as the service. Tables were spread out well for social distancing. We felt safe.More
The City Park Grill has great service, great ambiance, good prices, and delicious food. We try to get up North for a quick ski trip every year. We had not been to Park City in a few years and decided to try it again. In...early February, they had a pop-up Cajun menu that. I had the Pork Chop, and my buddy had the Cajun pasta. Outstanding! We came back in early March, and both had the Monday Meat Loaf Special. Again, it was terrific.More
Good food, fast attentive service, and reasonable prices! We liked the attention to detail - excellent homemade biscuits before the meal, pickles made in house, very good unique cole slaw, and friendly staff! Will be back!
