If DLB, as the locals know it, were in competition with bigger city steakhouses, it would still be at the head of the pack. Steaks here are perfectly seasoned and cooked--each bite packs flavor. Sides are generous, including a heaping helping of chive mashers you'd pay $12 extra per person for in Grand Rapids but here it comes with the... More

This is by far the best food in the area. We e been looking for a nice restaurant in the Mackinaw area and this is the one. Beautiful view of the lake. Planked whitefish was the best I've ever had. Steaks were wonderful. Desserts delicious. We will be returning. Also they take reservations.

We went with a group of 8. It was a busy night and service was overwhelmed and struggled - however - my rib eye steak was very good and done medium rare perfectly. French Onion soup was OK. I use this as a good judge of the chef. Their French Onion soup was a fast prep version with no depth... More

We ate at Douglas Lake Bar and Steak House to celebrate our anniversary. We had a super friendly waiter and great service. A restaurant owner once told me that to be excellent dinner there were three areas that must be good, 1. presentation , taste, and service..Douglas Lake Bar and Steak House met these three areas with flying colors! I... More

We find ourselves back in the great state of Michigan and visiting our favorite places to eat and stay. And in the eating department there is none better than Douglas Lake Bar and Steak House. We have been driving down from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada to eat at this wonderful restaurant for 8 or 9 years now from late... More

We had another great meal at DLB. I again had the Seafood DLB which is a pasta with shrimp and scallops in a parmesan cream sauce. I started with a truly great wedge with blue cheese, bacon, tomato, and caramelized onions. Others in our party had the sautéed lake perch, the ribs and the chicken marsala - all beautifully served... More

Great spot on Douglas Lake. Really great higher-end menu. The service can be terrible, but it is hard to find help up in the Northern woods of Michigan. People come here from 40 miles away..... and that is a testament to its quality and reputation.

When we walked in and said it was our first time there, they responded with: do you have a reservation. We were seated and had a really nice waitress. My adult kids and I felt like second class in our shirts and shirts. The menu dinners were $20-$30 but we were fine with that because we were looking for a... More

It is very hard to find a good restaurant in Northern Michigan. There I've said it--sorry, but it's true. The exception is the Douglas Lake Bar, up the hill from Pellston airport off Riggsville Road. We've been going to this place since I started coming up here in 1988, and it has always been very good. A bit pricey, but... More
