Red Haven is the best restaurant in the Lansing area, by far! We are privileged to have it close to MSU campus. I am a foodie and pay attention to details. The chefs at Red Haven are creative and use the freshest ingredients. I highly recommend it. Thank you for allowing us to eat well in an area where high quality restaurants are in great shortage.

I visited Ted Haven for an event featuring Chef Hank Shaw. The atmosphere, staff, food and drinks are fabulous. This is a special place to visit and enjoy a wonderful meal full of unique flavors. Come for a special occasion or just because it looks interesting. I highly recommend choosing one of their custom cocktails.

Red Haven changed their business model during the pandemic, but it is as great as ever. They are no open every day, rather for special dinners several times a week. Look at their website for details of upcoming dinners. Last week, we attended a celebration of northern Michigan dinner and it was amazing. The food is so creative. Going back tomorrow for their their street food dinner. A must try for the foodie.

I have been here only once for business dinner. It's just not for me. I like my not-to-share individual plate with veggies and protein in one. We were a large group (more than 10) and only to-share dishes were served. I don't like sharing food with strangers (colleagues), even less during flu season. No other option was offered. Food was not good in terms of taste (and the taste is subjective, I know, I simply didn't like it.). This is not for me or my husband (we checked it another time for lunch, not better even with individual plates). Never coming back. Also, portions are tiny and overpriced.

Tried to book a reservation on their website the day before. Never got a response. On the following night decided to go in person. The restaurant is currently transitioning to catering and private parties and I have been considering them for a family event. My stepdaughter is a vegetarian and really likes this restaurant and visits often. When I arrived the restaurant had only a few diners, was largely empty, and I asked for a table for one. I expected to spend at least a hundred dollars for dinner because I was told the restaurant was pricey. The hostess looked at her list and asked if I would mind sitting at the bar. I said that would be fine. She left and a few minutes later returned with a man in an apron. She told me they were not accepting walk-ins that night. I was not happy, said so, then left. I had dinner in another restaurant down the way. Then a day later I was having dinner with a friend and told her about my experience. She was surprised and said she and her male friend had walked in a few hours later and had dinner at the same restaurant on the same night. It became clear to me that I was being discriminated against because I was a woman dining by myself. I will not consider this restaurant for my private event or catering again in the future because of thepoor treatment I was given there

We stopped on way to concert hoping to have a "farm to table" meal. It was late opening and it took 15 minutes before we had service. Menu is has very limited entrees with several sharables. None of the selections fit the "farm to table" menu. I ordered a bison burger without the bun due to food allergies and also asked it I could have a salad instead of fries. I was told they did not have side salads, but could give me a bowl of lettuce. Burger was more like a small meat ball served only with mustard. I asked for other garnishes and told they did not have them, only the mustard. So I paid $20 for a meatball and bowl of lettuce. Save your money and frustration.

Food and service were fine, really enjoyed the food, though could've used a bit more of it. Trouble was the noise level in the place was almost unbearable. Finally couldn't wait to leave.

My husband and I have been to Red Haven for dinner multiple times but never for lunch. When a last-minute lunch-date opportunity popped up, we both wanted to give Red Haven a try and were delighted with our decision. The menu offers a delicious and unique array of starters, soups (do not miss the Chestnut Bisque), salads, lunch plates and sandwiches. This farm-to-table restaurant is an affordable mid-Michigan jewel.

While I love the food, the prices are at the upper end for lunch or dinner. Order carefully or you’ll break the bank!

We dined here before going to the Wharton Center for "Hamilton", so we received a 15% discount on our food. I would agree that it is pricey, but I also think it is a fresh alternative to so many restaurants that are all the same. The cold asparagus soup was one of the best items I have had in a restaurant in a very long time! I like the small-plates, and the "sharing" concept better than my husband does, but we both enjoyed our first meal at Red Haven. I would definitely like to go back again. We are senior citizens, and I don't think that is their target clientele, but we were comfortable and enjoyed our meal. Just a bit rushed. I was told that 5:30 was enough time to be out by 7 PM, but I wish we had gone at 5:00 so we had had time for dessert.

Pricey, but good food in small portions. Nice location and good parking. Fun place for a group outing.

Im sure in NY or CA this restaurant would do just fine, but it was not for us. Food is expensive and very small portions that you were suppose to share. Not very good tasting and was not at all what I expected for the price. Everything is alacarte and most items are $10 on up. I really wish I could give a local nonchain place a higher rating but I cannot.

This is an eclectic menu with something for everyone. Vegan, Veg or Carnivor. I tried the Beet/Apple Carpaccio, Brussels flash fried, and Sunchokes. All good. The Scallop special was well prepared and flavorful. Try this place. It will make you taste everything differently. Very well prepared.

Red Haven looks like it is on the ground floor of a residential block. It so marketed as a farm to table restaurant. The best way to describe it is American tapas. There is lots if choice of mainly meat but some veggie dishes but no fish. The dishes are meant for sharing and can be split 2 to 3 ways. Although I wasn't paying it did seem expensive. It is meant to feel rustic by 2 to 3 hours sitting on a wooden bench is quite uncomfortable.

Being new to the area, friends asked us to join them at their favorite restaurant in the are--I now see why. This farm to table menu is not only unique but very well done. The "shooter" of soup was an outstanding bisque without any meat. The thinly sliced vegetables and fruits covered with a mild vinegar dressing was beyond description. The other 5 small plates we all shared were equally delicious . I did feel slightly pressured when the waiter preferred all small plates to be ordered at once. We actually ordered 1 then 3 then 3 more and it worked out fine. We had plenty to eat, so much in fact that we had no room for dessert --unfortuanately. They are blessed with having plenty of customers. However, that contributes to my only drawback, it is extremely LOUD in the restaurant!
