Food was great, but service sucked. Food took forever to come (at least an hour), and we had to ask at least three times for coffee and iced tea refills. Waitress was extremely unprofessional and didn’t have a clue. The host was indifferent as well. Total mope. The table he sat us out was filthy and never was wiped down. My brunch companion did it herself with pocket Kleenex.
They charge $1.50 for a credit card swipe, which I wasn’t willing to pay. Too bad the great food was tempered by such lousy, indifferent service.

Jackie Shen is a well known, celebrated chef from Chicago who wanted out of the rat race and moved across the "pond".
They can't be anything less than thrilled that she did.
She fresh bakes her bread, pastry, cookies, etc. every day.
This is a TINY, bright, clean place with a small, dedicated staff.
Don't expect a discount breakfast or lunch, immediate seating, or people fawning over your table (they're busy!). But if you're good with being patient, paying for your specificities and excellent food, this is the place!
I special ordered french toast (get there early if you want brioche - I missed it), added bacon, ordered a great tasting coffee, paid with a card instead of the preferred cash and got a bill for $19.55. And I am PLEASED AS PUNCH because it was excellent and just what I wanted!
Saving Jackie's for next time I make it back through and need breakfast!

Fantastic breakfast food - we ate out on the patio and enjoyed the outdoors very much. The restaurant was cute and seated us right away- no reservation was necessary. We had the specials...the daily special savory crepe and the frittata were fresh and had unique flavors that went well together. The staff was the disappointing part. Very slow and inattentive even after being asked several times for items or even just to get our waiter. You could tell our server was nervous and unsure of himself. Some additional training would make this establishment run so much better. I hope it was just an “off” day because it wasn’t overly busy that they couldn’t be more attentive to customers. I would definitely give them another chance because the food was so good.

First, The waitress asked if we wanted one piece of toast or two, she said the owner makes her ask because of the waste. Once we were finished and ready to pay my daughter and I wanted to pay separate so they split the check. Once our cards were charged, the waitress told us that we were both Charged an extra 1.50 because we used our cards ....... on a $10.00 breakfast. Food was ok, but not worth the aggravation!!

Had breakfast here for the 1st time. Service was great, quick, friendly and attentive. Portion size was good. Food was a little bland for me lacking that rich full flavor I prefer. Seating is limited and parking is lot and street. Price was $60 for 4 adults or $15/ person without tip.

We were excited to try this restaurant after reading all the great reviews. We arrived at around 10am and were the only diners there. The service was very good. The breakfast menu options were rather ordinary and we thought the prices were very high. For instance, we ordered a side of bacon and got only 3 pieces for $6.50. While it was tasty I felt that it was very high for bacon, and we live in Chicago so we are used to paying a lot for good food. All in all, our food was good but just didn’t justify the price. One last note was that they charge extra to use a credit card so if you don’t want to pay more bring cash.

This is the start of a great new food relationship. Our family devoured the key lime pies and inhaled the breakfast casserole, not to mention the coffee cake and cookies that disappeared from the boxes before I could present them. Thank you Jackie for being one more blessing to be grateful for in 2020.

Quaint little Cafe. Ordered the New Buffalo breakfast, 2 eggs, toast, hashbrowns choice of ham, bacon or sausage for $12.00. I ordered 2 eggs over easy, one egg came over hard and broken they other was fine. The ham consisted of 3 small skinny strips of lunch meat. The hashbrowns were inedible, as they seemed creamy, not sure what Jackie added but they weren't good, left most on plate. The coffee was incredible. My wife ordered the healthy pancakes. Wonderfully prepared and very tasty. We will return and try again. I should of sent the broken over hard egg back. Wait staff was wonderful, very clean bathrooms.

The staff clearly wasn’t pleased we came. There was one couple inside and 2 outside on the garden area so it wasn’t overly busy. The staff snipped at each other didn’t offer to refill our coffee, I was brought butter too hard to be spread on toast and I asked if some could be brought that was either warmed or margarine and was told it wasn’t possible. There was two young ladies waiting on the few people and they would be abrupt to each other in our company making it an uncomfortable dining experience.

After waiting 20 minutes outside we walked in and my first thought was "why don't I smell food?" We waited at table for 15 minutes for water and then another 10 for coffee. The workers were literally making circles. The food is absolutely nothing out of the ordinary. When I order the ham with my breakfast I sure don't expect thin lunchmeat heated in a skillet. Scrambled eggs served as a dried out omelet . My friends pork sausage patty was scarily pink in the center. Just all around disappointing . Breakfast w coffee for 4 people $60. Not going back, will try one of the "divier" places closer to lake.

Food Ok. Traveling through ,still had a 3 hour drive, was looking forward to a New Buffalo stop for An Experience. Not so much ! 2 people , we were looking to have a nice breakfast and cup of coffee. Restaurant only 1/2 full ...we were only ones waiting , many tables free and yet we were told 15-20 minute wait , with no explanation why. We said we would wait. We were told to go outside and wait. Again,no explanation. But we did. It was every minute of 20 before they called us in . We watched many tables pay and leave in that 20 minutes! Oh, did I mention only half the tables were full, when we got there. Now, they took our order , again another 1/2 wait for food, with no explanation why. So, food was just ok ...BUT EXPERIENCE IS A BIG PART..., and this was not ok!! We ended up there for 1 hour 20 min, for scrambled egg and toast 😩. . Oh, coffee was good.

We had been to Jackies for breakfast in the past and it was good, so we stopped in for a quick bite while we were out and about. We hit the door at 1:00 PM and noticed they were closing at 1:30. We were promptly seated. With dinner reservations elsewhere for 6:00, we thought a light bite was in order. The waitress seemed put out that we were content to drink water. When we ordered the soup for a light lunch she was even more put out. "Is that all? Really? Is that all? Yup, that's all. Maybe she was hoping we'd order a bunch of stuff we had no appetite to eat? 15 minutes later she comes out of the back with a scowl and drops two small bowls of soup on the table. We never saw her again. It was really good soup, but her lousy attitude left a bad taste. We left a 100% tip to try to brighten her day. Hoping she gets the message. In any case I won't be bother going there again. She can suffer through the rude tourists.

Loved this place for hearty breakfast. Benito was my absolute fave. A little spice, loved the cornbread, eggs cooked perfect, and a delicious cheese sauce. Will try to replicate at home since I live in WI. Classic eggs Benedict was good, lemony hollandaise. Blueberry French toast was beautiful, thick slices with a yummy crumble on the top of the loaf. Healthy pancakes were good, homemade granola a nice touch (I added fresh bananas).

WOW, Jackie's is the place for delicious food. It is small but the food is outstanding. I had the blueberry French Toast and Bacon. The blueberry bread French Toast was the best French Toast I've ever eaten. I'm in my 60's and love to cook, so when I say the best, that is what I mean. Jackie has a storied career cooking in Chicago at her restaurant on Lincoln Ave in Chicago. New Buffalo is our new favorite area to visit. We will drive up just to go to Jackie's!

Hubby and I had Eggs Benedict, it was wonderful. The sauce was light and flavorful. The kitchen potatoes were different from hash browns, creamy & yummy. I do like mine a bit more browned though. Coffee can put hair on your chest, like in Europe. We couldn’t resist taking some blueberry coffee cake and cookies home. Well with the price, we’re from chicago so we’re used to paying $$$. Next time we visit we’ll go for lunch.
