After a lot of rain and wind we woke to a sunny day in La Roche Bernard and decided to take a short drive to one of our favourite places - Rochefort en Terre. I have never seen it so quiet and after a walk...round spotted Le Pelican was open for lunch. It's a very old traditional restaurant with a large open fire. They had a set 3 course lunch for €19 with a choice of two items per course. Everything was homemade and well presented and the service was excellent. I had haddock starter my husband had the pate. We both had the hake and a pear tart for dessert with a glass of wine. It was excellent. We visit Rochefort regularly and will definitely eat there again. Final bill €47 which was very good.More

Excellent food and service, in a beautiful 18th century hostel. Chapeau au chef, et le serveuse. Very well done.

We ate at Le Pelican several years ago and were looking forward to the experience again. It remains very good in terms of food quality and service and in our stay in Rochefort-en-Terre, we went twice.

It's a 100% tourist village it was 2 pm and we just wanted to drink something. The terrace was empty and the service employee just told us very unpolite this is not a bar! If you don't eat you don't get a table!! As I...mentioned the terrace was empty. I will never go back to a place like this and hope you neither.More

I have many memories of this place and it has a special place in my heart. The food and service each time I have been there has been excellent, which is a special thing in a place which is something of a tourist hotspot.

An excellent venue to celebrate a special day. Being a Sunday the restaurant was almost full and we would recommend you book a table in advance, particularly in the summer. The wood panelled dining room with open fire adds to the warmth of the welcome....The service was impeccable and the fixed price menu good value. The food was well prepared and excellently presented. For our main course we ordered lamb shank that was absolutely succulent and the meat just fell off the bone. The wine list offers a good choice within vintage and region. We chose a reasonably priced Cote de Bourg which was extremely pleasant. Certainly not the cheapest restaurant in the village but in our view extremely good value for money. We will be back.More

The dining room of this logis reminded me of French Hotels of my youth. Wood panelled dining room, hushed tones of the dinners. The food was average. Best part was the mise en bouche and the petits fours. Service very friendly and attentive

We ate at The Pelican last year and were so impressed we booked into the hotel for dinner and breakfast. The two female members of staff were very friendly but the meal was very disappointing.I asked about the lamb dish and was told it was...mince, in fact it was more like sausage meat and had no lamb flavour at all. My wife had guinea fowl which should not have tasted like a small basic chicken. The final straw was the wet smelly large dog which sat behind me in the restaurant and then again at breakfast. This is a Michelin Restaurant! The hotel is 2 star so no hairdryer maybe standard.More

This restaurant never fails to provide an enjoyable experience. Living close to the village we have eaten at many local restaurants but none match the quality and consistency of the Pelican. The restaurant offers several menu de jour with a price range to suit most...diners and a comprehensive wine menu to match. The service is always impeccable from two waitresses who have worked there for a number of years. They are very accommodating and provide a professional, caring and unobtrusive service. The food itself is well prepared and beautifully presented and includes a good selection of in season vegetables. This being a holiday month in France the restaurant was almost full when we had lunch but the food and service could not be faulted.More
