Apart from the fact that the restaurant is located in a beautiful garden full of palm trees and bamboo and plants, ambient lighting, suitable music and a really pleasant ambience, that's unfortunately it. We didn't even mind the cats or the mosquitoes as much as the service and the mediocre quality of the food. I expected much more from the restaurant itself.

The restaurant is set within a botanical garden which is a charming place to dine amidst the trees and crickets. The food is delicious (hake carpaccio and fresh fish) but the price tag was the highest on our week charter. Recommend if budget allows.

The setting is beautiful and unique. The food, just “okay” and one of the most expensive tabs we’ve had in Croatia. One of us ordered the risotto. The chef needs to look up in a cookbook “risotto.” It’s supposed to be creamy Arborio rice with flavorful broth and Parmesan cheese as a base. Then you can add shrimp, veggies, etc. This was plain rice with a few herbs thrown in for color. No flavor. The “chocolate cake” was a hunk of thick, hard fudge. Way overpriced for the quality of the food. The service was attentive. The wine was delicious.

Particular location, surrounded by greenery and, on request, they provide autan spray. But it doesn't end here.... There are also many cats that get a little too close to the table. Decent starter if you like vinegar, but for main course we ordered grilled calamari, which was really shocking as they were stuffed with innards and smelly. Upon our request, the owner came and, with great aggression and rudeness, ordered us to pay the bill in full. After a somewhat agitated moment, he sent us to hell and took away our uneaten meals. The entrance and atmosphere left us breathless. The multitude of palm trees provides a romantic and relaxing experience. Everything fell apart when we opened the menu, as the food selection was quite poor. For starters, we ordered a seafood platter which was a huge disappointment, not just because the portion was small, but also because the flavors didn't harmonize well.
For the main course, we ordered mussels and prawns which were oversalted and overly seasoned, a real shame for such good and fresh ingredients. Dessert was okay. The service was also a bit lacking as we weren't sure who our server was since different waiters kept coming to our table. However, the food arrived quite quickly. Overpriced and unoriginal dishes, despite the fresh ingredients. I wouldn't recommend it to friends, except for a stroll in the garden.

Villa Kaliopa holds a special place in my heart, as I've spent countless summers here soaking in its beauty. The lush garden surrounding the villa creates a serene oasis, and the restaurant offers not just delicious meals, but an experience for all the senses.

Villa Kaliopa is in an entrancing tropical garden. The tables are spaced out, under trees, and can be quite private, with lovely lighting. We didn't hear / see any mozzies, but had sprayed ourselves, & didn't get bitten - happy days!
It was our anniversary, & we started with a glass of prosecco while we looked over the menu. The prices were reasonable for such a stunning & classy location. We had the recommended cream of shrimp soup to start, & it was delicious.
We wanted fresh fish, & were shown a tray of whole fish. We decided to have the Scorpion Fish, which is local, but new to us. The fish was huge, & beautifully cooked, then served at the table by lifting the fillets off. It was delicious, with white meaty flesh - a bit like a cross between red mullet & monkfish. Couldn't finish it, as it was so big.
The service was excellent - we were never left waiting for anything.
Our server brought us free dessert (excellent creme caramel), & 2 free helpings each of local grappa, to celebrate our anniversary! We felt really well looked after.
Altogether, 2 glasses of prosecco, 2 soups, bread & oil, scorpion fish & fries (huge bowl) for 2, a bottle of Roki Vugava, & a bottle of sparkling water, re bill was 1200kn /€157

Well we finally returned to this wonderful restaurant. We first visited over 19 years ago when Vis was a fairly quiet town, we sailed there several times over the next few years and always had a great welcome and fantastic food. Our last visit was 17 years ago and we were worried that in the ensuing years the wonderfully quiet garden would now be a busy place. To our utter delight, the restaurant had hardly changed, even the owner was still around and after a long chat he admitted that many people have told him to put more tables in the garden, but that he had resisted. We had a first class fish with an excellent bottle of wine, all in all a perfect 25th wedding anniversary meal. We do hope to visit more, but with not being able to sail there ourselves this might not be possible. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough, if you are looking for that romantic meal, look no further.

Located in the beautiful botanical garden on Vis, this restaurant offers a lovely and romantic atmosphere. The Mediterranean seafood is fresh and flavorful, and there’s a nice selection of wines to choose from. The service is friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. It's a great spot for a relaxed meal surrounded by nature.

Overpriced. Menu worse than 99% restaurants in town Vis. Unimaginary couisine.. the basic pasta with frutti di mare is more than 20€ and it is so basic that makes one feel cheated.. The service was unbeiliavable bad.. Waiter brought fish and calmly told my wife that fish has middle long bone and that she can handle it.. For this price and level of couisine they aim this is unaccepatble..
Anyway the ambient was like the gardener resined at beginnig of year.. lots, i mean LOTS of wild cats wondering around.. from bad to worse in 30min..
Just go take a look at this garden, if you need but don't eat.

The restaurant was located in a botanical garden, a really nice place and very romantic, but the food was terrible - that was to be expected from an overpriced and basic menu and disinterested staff.
We ordered a risotto with prawns and squid with mangels and potatoes and it was very bad - the risotto was not risotto, it was boiled rice with a few prawns, and the squids were not cleaned, full of sand, the potatoes and mangels were overcooked and not seasoned.
There are many good restaurants in Vis, this is not one of them!

This restaurant was recommended to us by our cruise director, it was a beautiful setting in a garden had a very homey feel. Three of us had the lamb chops they were very tasty. We also got guidance on the wine and it was excellent. Friendly service and reasonably priced

Magical ambience and extremely friendly service. Fresh, local food, where I was particularly impressed by the Scampi cream soup and the swordfish, which was really prepared in a superb way. A place that I recommend and where I will always return and admire Chef Toni's skill again and again.

Worst place and service, I highly recommend not going. The owner and the staff were very rude and unpleasant.
First we made a reservation for 7 people and 3 kids. When we arrived the table was for 14 people, we asked if they could please remove 5 places because our reservation was for less people. They said no and when they brought the check we notice they charged for the places (they charged 14 even though our reservation was for 10 and they refused to take the places off)
After they brought the food that was regular, the owner approach out kids and started shouting at them because they were looking at some bricks (literally).
We had to leave the restaurant it was truly the worst experience.
Please don’t go!!
There are a lot of good options out there, this one is not worth your money or time.

However this establishment is a botanical garden from the 16th century and as such, it demands a high level of care and understanding. For this reason, we ask that every child is under supervision and well behaved. Your children didn’t follow the rules of our restaurant and that was brought to your attention.
