A cafe in Bellaire recommended Shirley’s when they were unable to serve anymore customers on Sunday. We called to make sure Shirley’s was still serving. They were up front about the wait time (20 min) adding on more time for an order to be served. It was obvious on arriving, they were busy & short handed. But… we were greeted warmly, the servers were attentive with coffee and water, and apologetic as we waited. Food was good, Rise n Shine eggs and bacon done just right. Hot roast beef sandwich, good portion and tasty per hubby. They make their own bread, yummy.

I had a meeting with a friend and the place was packed. We waited for more than 10 minutes but the servers were assuring us all the time. Our wait was all worth it. Food was fantastically delicious. We both had the Bacon and Blue Cheese Burger. Highly recommended.
The servers were very friendly. They made you feel like you were family.

Shirley’s Cafe now has a new name. Patty Melt was excellent. Hot turkey was very good. Small town place with local folks and owner.

I understand that this place has recently changed owners and I knew something was different as soon as I looked at the menu. We stopped for lunch and we wanted more than the sandwiches that were available. However, we were here and there are not many alternatives in Mancelona. So we ordered and were quite satisfied. The sandwiches were very good, but they were not what we were wanting. I will try again later and see if the menu has expanded.

We were looking for a breakfast place and stopped at Shirley's on our way home. We were pleasantly surprised. Both of our breakfasts were very good. The wife had homemade french toast and I had an omelet. Both were tasty, hot, and very filling. Nothing fancy here - but if you are looking for a solid breakfast or lunch, stop in.

We found Shirley's Cafe on our way from Cadillac to Boyne Falls. Did not disappoint. Great service (we were the only ones there) and great breakfast. I had an omelet with potatoes (the real kind) and rye toast. OH MY GOODNESS, the HOMEMADE BREAD was AMAZING! I had to stop eating the omelet and potatoes to eat this butter laden rye toast. And the coffee was great. Pricing good.

We arrived and they told us it would ups be 15-20 minutes for a table. We came back at 30 from the gift shop next door and I looked at the wait list. They seated several tables that come in after us that were big parties. Then people that arrived after us were being seated before us as well. Obviously this restaurant goes for the big parties for the bigger check. We did not stay. I was told they are always on a wait.

Had the Creole shrimp omelette with some decent sized shrimp - a couple more shrimp is warranted, however.. Pretty tasty and would defintiely order again.

We were passing through and stopped for lunch. I had a cod dinner and the wife had a hot roast beef sandwich. Mine was all I could handle and hers was enough to feed both of us! The quality was perfect and the house salad is among the best I have ever experienced.

We sopped a couple days ago at Shirley's in Kalkaska and it was good. Today we went to Shirley's in Mancelona. We didn't realize they were the same Shirley's with the same menu. The main difference was the decor. 50's vs. 60's. I let you decide which is which. The place was busy on a Sunday at 9am but even busier at 10am when we left. In spite of the crowd the service was good and the food was good. The kitchen was backed up. The Cranberry Walnut French Toast (crusted) was the best ever. Better than Mom's. I might have to go back later this week.

On way to Turtle Creek Casino we stopped at Shirley’s for lunch. All 4 of us ordered something different. Loved the lean corn beef Reuben on homemade grilled bread. Fries were perfect. Blueberry pancakes and corn beef hash good but eggs over done. Patty melt very good. Pitcher of ice a nice touch. Staff and customers were friendly and interesting to watch. Popular place with the locals. Enjoyed seeing Shirley’s picture and the “Shorts Cleaning” business card on the checkout counter. Recommend this as a stop for good food and entertainment.

We came in for brunch on Saturday and seated ourselves which we’ve done numerous times, this lady tells us, not asks, to move to a table in the back and if we didn’t like it we could leave, she proceeds to inform us that she is related to so and so and that was her first day! We moved and she brought our table 4 waters and a pitcher of ice, what do you do with a pitcher of ice? You can’t pour it, whatever. Waitress came and coffee was ordered, well there was no silverware on the table to stir the coffee with, so here comes this lady, and says sarcastically, “I should have guessed”, well you should have had silverware already on the table, we shouldn’t have to ask for it, but she is related to so and so and it’s her first day! We are talking and next thing we know this lady comes to our table and says that anybody disrespecting her staff will be asked to leave! We’ve only seen the waitress once and nobody was rude, so whatever crawled up this woman’s hind end being it was her first day, she’s related to so and so, it was a busy weekend was left unsaid, we’ve always had great food and service at Shirley’s till this chick walked in her doors, she’s definitely not a people person and if she continues in this establishment I’ll guarantee she won’t last long, customers won’t stand for it, maybe washing dishes, we left and went over to the Iron Skillet which is another excellent restaurant and will go there from now on, good luck chick that’s related to so and so
