Our first visit here was in December 2021 and we were delighted by the service and meal. This was our second visit and ordered the roti canai and roti telur that we really enjoyed previously, as well as the Indian Mee Goreng. The roti telur and Mee Goreng were very good. Only complaint was that the roti with the roti canai was dry and seemed to have been sitting around for hours. The server was the same one from our last visit - she is so good. It is not her fault the roti was not as we had hoped. All said, another stop at Satay House will happen on our next Detroit trip.

Start with the satays and Indian poti bread, followed by the stir-fried noodles or rice dishes. Desserts and boba teas also available

I went here with a large group of people (in town for kids sports) and we all thoroughly enjoyed the food. The service was great and the food was fresh and authentic tasting! While they do not sell alcohol, they allowed us to bring it in (BYOB)! Made for a pleasant lunch and afternoon with friends.

My wife and I stopped in for lunch, mainly because I saw that they served my favorite Malaysian food, that being roti canai. The restaurant is small and clean. Service was excellent. Our lunch meal was roti canai, roti telur, papaya salad and mango salad. Serving sizes were generous. We had to pack up the some of the very good salad to go. Roti canai and roti telur were both excellent. I've had outstanding roti canai before, and Satay House's was just as good. Roti telur was also excellent. Nice crispy roti with onions and egg. We will definitely stop by here again.

Slightly Overrated, but maybe I just didn't get the best dish. The appetizer was a roti that was a great and the chicken satay was oily. For my entree I had the shredded chicken and shrimp noodle bowl that lacked flavor. 2 of 3 of their dishes were bland so in my opinion the 3.5 star average this place has is to high.

This is a "Thai, Malaysia, Singapore" restaurant. The lady who runs the restaurant is from Ipoh, Malaysia. Decor is very simple, with Malaysia tourism posters plastered on the walls.
Couldn't order much food since I was alone. I ordered beef satay and mee jawa (something that I have never come across in any overseas Malaysian restaurant).
Verdict:
Beef satay - not even close. Peanut sauce didn't come close to what I'd expect for satay sauce. Not grilling the beef over an open charcoal fire probably didn't help with the taste either.
Mee Jawa - tasted a bit more sour that I expected. It actually tasted pretty OK after the first few mouthfuls. There definitely is a bit of modification likely due to availability of ingredients locally. I would rate it a 3⭐️.
They probably are well known for other dishes. Need to check out other dishes. It'll have to wait till my next visit.

Second time here. Service is good, food was just ok. General tsoa chicken was very bland. It was much more flavorful first time we went a month ago.

We meet once every month for lunch with several of my former colleagues from General Motors. I try to select restaurants with a variety of cuisines that are highly rated and moderately priced. This time, Satay House caught my attention as another Review of the Day. So it was our choice and four of us showed up.
First of all, Satay House serves what I'll call regional dishes; Thai, Malaysian, Singaporean, but also Indian and other influences. While I normally like to have more focus (going to a Thai place for Thai food, an Indian place for Indian food, etc), at Satay House this regional cuisine approach works.
We arrived Saturday at 11:30 am and it was not busy yet; it was when we left. We were quickly seated and served tea that was hot and flavorful; great for a cold and snowy day. Since there were so many pictures of it on Yelp, we had to order the Roti Canai Indian Appetizer, and our friends ordered the Malaysian Poh Piah steamed egg rolls. They were both excellent and well worth reordering in the future.
For our main dishes, I selected Chicken Redang with Rice, a slow-cooked Curry Chicken in Coconut Milk; I really enjoyed this dish with chunks of tender chicken in a curry sauce. And I used the remaining sauce from the Roti Canai to finish my entree rice (a pro tip). My wife chose Hainanese Chicken with Rice. She said it was as good as she had imagined and the pieces that were on the bones were especially flavorful. The Hainanese Rice added subtle flavor and she is a big fan of the Grated Ginger Sauce that came with this dish.
Our friends ordered a Curry Beef Noodle Soup (the name pretty well describes it) and Malaysian Fried Noodles that seemed to contain almost everything including pork, shrimp, egg, squid, bean sprouts...you get the picture. They thoroughly enjoyed their choices and we will definitely all be back!
But wait! There's more...we actually had room for dessert! Well, we would have ordered the Coconut Pudding even if we were too full! I mean, how could you not order Coconut Pudding served in a real Coconut? In fact, we ordered two...that's how good and unique it was. In all the excitement, I forgot to take a before picture, but there are plenty of them already posted so just look at them. When I thought we were done, one of my friends said no, keep digging until I hit brown! So it's Coconut Pudding inside a Coconut Shell with a layer of additional Coconut Pudding around the inside that looked like a perfectly-smooth porcelain. Mmmmm!!

Nice little cozy place for some Maysian, Indonesian cuisine. Very nice and distinct flavor to the food. Clean, good service, reasonable priced. Not fancy ambience but good for a casual lunch or dinner.
Some reviews talked of it being pricey; but at most dishes in the $8-10 range, I didn't feel so.

Had lunch here last month, food quite taste but quite skimpy on the quantity... Ordered satay chicken on a stick, quite small pieces and like 3-4 pieces each of onion and cucumber? Sauce was good. The roti was also good with the curry sauce but quite skimpy on the quantity. Would recommend to everyone, but keep in mind the cost and quantity factor.

Love the satay and peanut sauce. Ended up eating there 4 times in 3 days!
Ordered spicy string beans with shrimp and belacan. Very spicy and very tasty.
Don't really have any places like this in South Florida, wish we did.

Some of the food here are worth trying out, some just so-so. Been here a couple times. Tried their curry mee, char kueh teow, roti telur, roti canai, javanese noodles, hwa tan hor noodles, satay, hainanese chicken rice (you can also sub it with roasted chicken).
