Great spot to get away from everything and enjoy a quiet lunch. We decided to sit inside at the bar and watch the cooks and the bartender work. The food was great and the drinks were even better.

It was a little chilly to sit outside but the heaters, great food and friendly staff made it wonderful. Highly recommend the Ice House BBQ

While we were too early to check in to the Island House, we were pleasantly surprised to discover this oasis in its backyard. Each table on the patio is shaded by an umbrella, and the surrounding grounds are beautiful. The food was really good, although...the drink menu was somewhat restricted at that hour. Overall, a really nice place to chill.More

My husband and I made reservations for dinner at the Ice House as their outside seating allows for dogs and we love BBQ. Only half the tables were full as they had limited staff to manage all the tables. Our waiter was friendly and food...came out quickly. We ordered the brisket sandwich and the brisket tacos. The sandwich was by far the better choice. Fries were so-so and should have just stayed with the chips.More

The Ice House has a private relaxed patio setting with numerous tables snd umbrellas. It is suitable for couples or families. The servers were very attentive and the barbecue was amazing. We would recommend this as an alternative to the busy downtown restaurants.

First off we had reservations for 2 30 pm. When we got there 2:27pm, there was a family waiting with no reservations. They were seated before us for some reason. After we were seated (at a dirty table) another party of 3 and a single...gentleman sat down. Finally after sitting at a dirty table for 10 minutes when our waiter came over to take our order I had to ask him to clean the table. We ordered our meal. Both parties that sat down after us were both served there meal before us even tho we ordered before them. The mojito I ordered was terrible. The server never checked back to see if we needed anything. I get the bill and he added $3 for fries to both of our meals. Me and my wife look at each other like “what the heck, he said it came with it” I looked in the menu and sure enough a $20 sandwich only comes with chips. Fries are $3 extra. Problem with that is our waiter said to both my wife and I, “your sandwich’s come with chips or fries which would you like” we both said fries. When someone says your sandwich comes with chips or fries that means in comes with it. Not, I’m going to tell you it comes with it and then charge you for it. The food was good, but for $20 a sandwich it better be. What you also need to give if your going to charge $20 for a sandwich is service. We received the worst service of any of a dining experiences on Mackinaw Island here. I would maybe go back here if we stayed at the hotel again but I am a little turned off based on our first experience.More

Honestly, not the worst, and I know price inflation on the island is bad so it should've been anticipated, but this restaurant would not survive like this if it was anywhere except Mackinac Island. First, the positives: - The food was delicious. It was all...cooked well, seasoned very well, and all around delicious. I was particularly a fan of the brisket, the cornbread, and the coleslaw. - The service was very fast! They seated us before our reservation time. Great! - the location is very beautiful! It was such a lovely day too - the service was fast! We didn't have to wait long for anything, and considering how we were a party of 10 it was pretty good. -the server was nice! he was very good! he did his job! A very nice young man. Now, the reason for 2 stars instead of 5 We were a party of 10 adults (all family). We had returned from hiking 6.5 hours in the woods. Needless to say, we were quite hungry. We had reservations, (large party) so we looked ahead at the menu and saw their family style package for 4. It advertised, verbatim, "Half Smoked Chicken, a Full Rack of Our Signature Smokehouse Ribs, One Pound of Smoked Pork Shoulder Or Beef Brisket, Coleslaw, Baked Beans, Macaroni & Cheese, Jalapeno Cornbread" We figured this would be enough for half our party, so we would get two. Mainly, the "full rack of ribs", the "half smoked chicken", and all the sides listed, we figured two would be enough. It is also worth noting, one of these portions was $75. Two of these was $150. Split 2 ways, this is $15/person before the included gratuity, which is pretty decent for a meal on the island. By the time we got there, we were very hungry from our long walk. We sat down, ordered, and then all took a double take when our food came out. The portion sizes were very small. Comically small. The half chicken was actually 4 pieces, with a chicken breast cut in half as one of the pieces. The brisket was 6 thin strips. The ribs were the shortest ribs I'd ever seen, the size of my pinky finger. There were only twelve of these per meal. The sides mentioned, save for the cornbread, would never have been enough to split more than two ways; imagine a standard ice cream scoop of mac n cheese, split 4 ways. Same with the coleslaw and the beans. Even for island inflation, it was ridiculous. Again, the food was delicious, but there's inflation and then there's near robbery. If you're a party of two adults, it'd be enough food, but a party of 4 no way.More

There were 4 of us, so we got the BBQ dinner for 4. Brisket was very good, ribs were amazing and the pulled pork was tasty. The chicken was moist but bland, not much seasoning at all and no smoke flavor like the other meats....Sides were decent as well. Service was ok, not the quickest. Friendly though. They need to sell their glasses with the Restaurant name on them as well. Would make a good souvenir. I asked and was told they did not sell them!!!!More

We stayed at the Island House Hotel, so this restaurant was very convenient. We had no reservations and showed up at 7 on a Saturday night. We were seated right away. It was a perfect evening for dining outdoor, and it was a beautiful environment....My 4-year-old doesn’t like waiting before or after the meal - they had a big Jenga set in the gazebo, so he used it as building blocks. Everyone was happy! There is no bar, which is a bit of a bummer. But they had canned cocktails that weren’t bad. We all shared the ribs and they were delicious!!! The fries weren’t our favorite, but we’re picky. The service was great. Maybe it was better because we weren’t constantly interrupted with “when will our food be here?” or “can we go now?” So refreshing! Our server checked on us frequently, but wasn’t intrusive.More

We had lunch today at the ice house bbq. it was recommended by our carriage driver. i wish i had tried it sooner as it was right at our hotel, the island house. the hotel is just a couple of houses past the park with...the fort, so it’s not very far from the main hub but it’s like worlds apart because it’s outdoors and it’s peaceful. I had a pulled pork sandwich and it was very good. a huge sandwich served with homemade chips. We did wait at our table for nearly an hour before the food arrived, but i really didn’t mind since it was a beautiful day. well worth the wait.More

Nice space off the path and when crowded island might be the spot. Had the wings which they say are smoked. Doubt it and 6 small wings where $17! Most definitely not $17 wings. do not get unless you have some extra cash. Service was...good. Food just ok and WAY Over pricedMore

This is an all outdoor restaurant right now, snuggled behind the Island House. There is a lovely dining area with umbrella covered tables. Hubs and I had the "breakfast burger" and fries. Both were tasty and there was no extra charge to share the meal....The beers we chose were good and the server was friendly and attentive. Its been almost a year since we've been but it's still a good casual place to eat and relax.More
