The whitefish my wife and I had was some of the best whitefish we have ever had. Beautiful setting overlooking the harbor. If you want a special place to celebrate a special occasion look no further.

During our stay at the Island House Hotel, we stopped in the 1852 Grill Room for a drink. The bartender, Ryan, was helpful and friendly, but genuine. He offered us food recommendations on the Island with his strongest being the 1852 Grill Room (which we...expected, coming from the bartender in the restaurant). He was 100% dead on. Without a shadow of doubt, it was the best food on the Island, complete with excellent customer service and a beautiful view. With our stay coming at the end of season and an entire Island full of servers and bartenders ready for it to be over, the 1852 Grill Room rose above their collective exhaustion and provided an experience found nowhere else on the Island. Unbeknownst to us at the time, we happened upon the owners having a drink at the bar while we sat there as well. It was evident by their warm, welcoming conversation that this setting is unique on the Island. There's a reason reservations are strongly recommended by the staff and others. It's worth it.More

Really enjoyed our dinner here. I wish the weather had been a bit nicer as they have a really beautiful patio with a great view. Regardless, the food was excellent, the service was great and it was nice to have live music from the pianist....I would return again if we find our way back on Mackinac Island.More

Made a reservation for the next night that we stayed at Island house. We started off with the duck flatbread which was very tasty but had way too much arugula and the flatbread seem to have been overcooked. We also had the small beet salad...which should be renamed the arugula salad because it had way more arugula than it did beets. I ordered the walleye which was cooked to perfection, my wife ordered the rainbow trout and it came out stone cold, it was quite sometime before Jewell came back to check on us To tell her that the trout was cold. She did offer to have it re-cooked or something else made but my wife declined. After that it didn’t seem like she came back the table quite as much. We never did see a manager has one did not even come to the table. At the end of our meal with her Jewell complain to the host in the dining room that she had too many tables and somebody else should have picked up some of the tables. At the time she did have six or seven tables. We will definitely be going back because everybody can have an off night but we were just disappointed with the reputation that they had there.More

We called day of dinner (on a Saturday) and able to get a table. Our fish entries (Rainbow Trout and Sole) were excellent and staff did a great job of distancing tables and staff wearing a mask. Would also recommend the beet salad as well...- excellent taste and presentation. We arrived a bit early - around 5:00 pm and able to spend a few minutes at the bar. Believe that the dining room opened up at 5:30 pm so coming a bit early was perfect. Charlie was our server and did a great job and wore a mask during our interaction - (which is a good thing).More

We made a reservation for a celebration for my daughter, we had a beautiful view of the marina, but the sun was right in our eyes, and they said the shade was broke and couldn’t bring it down. The Prime Rib was good, but was...more fat than meat. It’s a nice place to eat, and the service was good, but we probably won’t be going back there.More

My wife and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary and the trip we booked was not possible due to COVID, so we booked a few nights on Mackinac Island. Our daughter and her husband were also celebrating their 30th anniversary and a few weeks before...the trip we discovered that we booked several nights on Mackinac Island that overlapped. Once ther we connected and agreed to meet for dinner at 1852 Grill Room. We arrived for our reservation and were seated on the patio overlooking the harbor. We all enjoyed a fabulous meal and shared stories of our experiences from earlier on the trips we each scheduled. What a wonderful memory we have from our evening on the patio. Great food, great view, great company and wonderful service. We even had a freighter pass between Mackinac and Round Island in the setting sun. Don't skip the desserts. They were worth the extra calories. While this is a higher priced restaurant than some, it is well worth it for special occasions and events. If you plan a trip to Mackinac Island and want a special meal, we recommend the 1852 Grill Room.More

The food is always excellent. Service is very good, server was very friendly and pleasant (Jillian). We stay at Island House and always have at least one dinner here. It's never disappointing. It has become somewhat pricey (most of the Island is), and I'd suggest...smaller portions and slightly lower prices. We just couldn't eat all the food we were served. But it was delicious!More

No, but it’s a very nice dining room, so you’ll have to use your common sense.
