Always come here for breakfast, ever since I was a small child. Food is consistent and plentiful. Don't let your eyes get bigger than your stomach. Two pancakes (which are malted so they are fluffy and huge) fill me up I don't even get hungry until after normal dinner time. The servers are totally old school and on top of things - always refilling your coffee, making sure your meal is good, and making suggestions for things they think you will like (if you let them). The place has not been updated in decades, which is good in some ways (nostalgia) and not so good in others (feels unclean - but isn't - and dimly lit). Lots of offerings on the menu and they don't rush you. The server took our cash and made change right at the table like they did in the old days. Love this place!

Finding a small-town restaurant that maintains their same staffing over time can be difficult to find in the era of mega-chain restaurants. But the Old Hamlin is the exception. The staff are plenty busy, yet still attentive and friendly. The menu prices are still fairly reasonable, and the food is prepared fresh. The restaurant has been in Ludington for a long time, so don't expect to find modern decor. Instead you'll enjoy viewing some fantastic art work on the walls, and if you think you've seen a tiny bathroom, you haven't seen one until you've been in theirs! The food is good, and the homemade bread is really good with breakfast. I opted for the thick raisin toast. I asked if it came with icing on it. It did not, but our waitress offered to bring some icing to make it ever better! WOW! Coffee was delivered with a carafe at the table. This restaurant can get quite busy during the summer tourist season, so plan your trip during off meal times and you'll be happy.

Had lunch with my friend of 40 years and his friend that I just met and I kind of told them what to order and they were just floored with how great the food was and how friendly our waitress Charlene was. It's nice to go to a family restaurant where the waitresses are actually friendly they're very blessed to have her working for them. I get the half order of roast beef and it's just enough and the price is great couldn't be better I've never had a bad meal here and I've tried different things in the parking in the back is very ample enjoy when you come to Ludington go into downtown it's on the north side at a corner parking is around the back or in front whatever you want.

Our innkeeper identified this restaurant as a local institution and highly recommended it to us; thus, we were optimistic. Generally we did not like the experience. The waitress was somewhat assertive, and the food, hailed as homemade, was mediocre at best. My son had chicken alfredo, and the chicken was processed cubes rather than fresh meat. My husband's pasta dish with marinara sauce and vegetables did not taste good.

This restaurant is an over priced dive. Very Dirty A salad bar full of old food, and dirty looking. The station that held the soup was horrible. No one in the restaurant was maintained it. The steak I had was flavorless and full of fat. My husbands chicken was over fried and dry. The mash potatoes were fake, and grainy. The only positive about this place was our waitress, and I am sure she is not payed enough. The Manager didn’t even have the nerve to come to our table to see what was wrong. My fault in all this, I should have turned around the moment I walk in the door.

Came for breakfast. Didn’t disappoint. It’s an old school family eatery but I happen to like those types of places. Ordered a farmer’s burrito. I thought the menu was just using commas poorly but turns out your American fries are inside the omelet. Would have asked for them on the side if I’d known. Also would have asked fir the gravy on the side. Can’t believe I’m saying this, but there was too much gravy. The toast was incredibly thick. So good. Would definitely come back and try other menu items. Service was incredibly friendly too.

We chose the Old Hamlin because of the charm and historic feel outside. The menu was full of great offerings. The waitress assured us e bread was made that morning in house! Yum! I ordered a bottle wine, affordable, and after one glass they corked it for me to take it back to my hotel. I also took a homemade dessert back for later and part of my huge club sandwich!

On a recommendation we visited Old Hamlin for breakfast, specifically to try the Homemade French Toast. The French Toast is made with their homemade bread, dusted with powdered sugar, and it delicious! I ordered the two slice version, ate 1 3/4 slices, and the server said I ate more than most. It is thick and filling! Coupled with their homemade hash browns and a side of bacon, it was a fantastic breakfast. Don't visit Ludington without trying the Old Hamblin French Toast!

Our family visited Ludington for a one day while taking a round trip on Badger. Had to find some food, didn't feel like waiting in line at a busy place down the street so found a spot that looked promising. Walked through the back with our maskson. We were seated right by the buffet that was open on our side. Again with our masks on and hands behind our backs we got up to take a peak not realizing that we are doing something wrong. "Hey, you! You two, get out of there! You can't be there! " was a loud voice coming from a way back . She clapped at us and scream so the entire place could hear. My daughter and I were treated like dogs. Embarrassed in front of everyone. My husband calmed me down because I was ready to walk. I have worked for 30 years in a customer service and would not even imagine treating anyone like that. food was good but atmosphere was ruined by some horrible, unhappy old witch in charge.

Overall the food was very tasty and the soup and salad bar had tasty offerings. The place just feels dated though. If they updated a little bit then they could probably draw a better crowd. Don’t get me wrong food was great and service was very hospitable. I would definitely eat here again.

We had a lunch there, found the menus quite complicated but ended up with good sandwiches (great bread) and salad with lots of flavour. I would like to have tried some of the local dishes eg stuffed cabbage, for dinner - but portions are large so not for lunch. Pleasant service but clearly things are busy, it is a local institution.

Found this great little spot today as I was trying to go to a different place and was looking for a place I could get a late breakfast. I sure was in for a treat. A very nice waitress served me, and I had a great breakfast, cooked just how I like it. The best part of the whole experience was the service, she was outstanding even with all the other customers. It wasn't really busy, but it was hopping. Her level of service and being personable made the experience all worth going out my way to go there. The others working there that I had chatted a little with made it seem very comfortable. They gave me the feeling that they were my friend and really enjoyed chatting with them. Whenever I'm in Ludington I'm definitely going to stop by hoping to get the same waitress even if I have to wait. Prices were fair and the servings were good.

We stopped here for breakfast before driving home. It reminded me of a good old fashion mom and pop place. The waitress was very friendly and prompt. She made sure to bring us freshly brewed coffee and a carafe of water. The food was hot and plentiful. The French toast with homemade bread was wonderful. The pancakes fluffy and the omelettes large!

Not the first time visiting the Old Hamlin Restaurant. Waitress, Stacie was very good in all aspects of her job. Pleasant, knowledgable on the menu, efficient. While waiting for our food the owner (who had her back to the door) stood up and yelled at her employees for not watching the front door. You could hear a pin drop. My husband and I were not the only ones who felt uncomfortable as several of the patrons made a face and talked with others near by. I also need to say that all of the employees were extremely busy! It was very uncomfortable and awkward. The owner was way out of line. If she had a problem with the employees talk to them in private. That would be the respectable and courteous thing to do. We asked questions and found out this lady was the owner and the HOSTESS that morning. A suggestion. When playing hostess don't sit with your back to the door.

I apologize for my reaction to my employees in public. Yes I can hostess if they need me, it is not my job all the time, especially when I have a full crew. At that point in time they were all in the other dining room talking, and not about business. It was not busy at that time. They know that someone must remain in the front dining room at all times. That is why we have two computer stations. All my employees have been here beyond 6 years. They know better. I am sure if I was the bad person that you portray that they would not be working here for so long. I am sorry you think I am such a bad person.
