About
Flat River Grill is a neighborhood restaurant located in the heart of downtown Lowell and is comprised of two unique spaces–the dining room, housed within the first floor of the Bergin building (est. 1931), and a four-season patio, which is situated alongside the Flat River and the historic Lowell Showboat. We serve wood-fired feasts with an emphasis on classic American cuisine. The space is comfortable, the service is warm and the people are like family. A special bond exists between our staff and the Lowell community. Patrons often choose to share milestone events like birthdays, anniversaries, and proms with us. Over the years we've enjoyed the privilege of watching both employees and guests

Disappointed again. We decided to stop at Flat River Grill today for lunch. I hadn’t been back in awhile due to poor service, so we decide to give them another chance. After waiting at the empty hostess desk for over 15 minutes we decided to...leave. While standing there multiple employees made eye contact then went about their business, finally after 6 or 7 or minutes a waitress said someone would be right with us. More people arrived behind us, still no one approached to seat us or ask us to wait. After several more minutes, more eye contact and no one even looking like they cared we decided to leave. The sad part is we always enjoyed their food, but there are too many places in the area that does both well, service and food. So off we went to Perrin Brewing, excellent service and food.More

So sorry to hear you didn't have a great experience. We'd like to get to the bottom of it. If you could send our GM an email at vsimmons@gilmorec.com, we'd like to discuss this more. Thanks.

This place has such great outdoor seating overlooking the water. The customer service was excellent and the menu vast. We really loved the salmon, Brussels, and Flat River Burger. Well Done FRG.

The food - flank steak, white chicken chili, salad, and desserts was perfect. We sat in the outdoor encased anteroom. At first, they had speakers blaring some kind of drum music. It was obnoxiously loud. So loud, we couldn't communicate with our guests. I would...have given the grill a 1* rating, it was so miserable. Happily, they turned it off, at our request, and our dinner was great thereafter. We stayed for dessert and coffee. 5*.More

The Flat River Grill is a part of the Gilmore Group and on your birthday you are able to have dinner on them. You need to go on your actual birthday and you need to be a member of their dining rewards club, which is...Gregslist. When we got there for dinner we were seated in their outside area. This was in November and it was a bit chilly, however we were told that there were space heaters and we need not worry about being cold. Well.....not all of the space heaters were working and our waitress really didn't seem that interested in trying to get the one closest to us in working order. I heard the gals at the table beside us ask about the non working heater and the waitress just explained that it wasn't working. When I asked she must have decided to try it, and lo and behold, she got it to work. It's too bad that it took two tables complaining to get her to do something about it. When we were seated I told the waitress that it was my birthday, but she didn't really tell me anything about the benefits of it being my birthday. I had to ask her to confirm that my meal would be free and I also had to ask what I was able to get. I have been there a number of times for my birthday, but I didn't want to assume that it was the same as it had been in prior years. When I told her that it was my birthday and that I was there to get my free birthday meal she should have responded with "Happy Birthday" and she should have told me what I was able to get, but she didn't. At any rate I got the Potato Crusted Walleye and in place of the broccolini I got asparagus and in place of the mashed potatoes I got rosemary garlic roasted redskin potatoes. Everything was amazing, I can't wait to have it again. While my dinner was great, it would have been much better if our waitress would have been more welcoming when I told her it was my birthday. I'm not so sure I care to spend my birthday there again as I was real uncomfortable asking about my free meal. Thank you Flat River Grill for my amazing birthday dinner.More

Wow, everything was excellent. The atmosphere, service, food & drinks. I got the salmon and it was cooked perfectly as well as the sides and salad. They made a great old fashioned. I can't wait to try this place again there were so much on...the menu I'd love to try. They have a wood-fired oven they use for many of their meals & pizza. They also had patio seating that was enclosed and heated for the winter with a view of the river. Even this was my first visit I know I will be a regular.More

Stopped here for dinner with my wife on way back to Lansing from Grand Rapids. Discovered on Trip Advisor, thought we would try it. Glad we did. Located right on the river in downtown Lowell, we sat out on the enclosed area that is used...for outdoor seating in the warmer weather. They have really nice heaters out there and they are placed in the right spots. Great atmosphere. Menu was fantastic, as was the service and food. Will definitely be going back.More

We decided on Flat River Grill for a late lunch/early dinner on New Year's Eve. Flat River Grill did not disappoint! The food we had - chicken fettuccine for me and potato crusted walleye for my husband - was absolutely delicious! We both enjoyed a...house salad with their homemade house vinaigrette. And the bread they brought to the table with it.....so tasty, especially with the dipping sauce! Our server was attentive to us, very competent and friendly. We didn't save room for dessert, but since we plan to go back, we'll be sure to leave room. :)More
